  1. I've been to work and now the third one has been published and found! I am happy, thanks for the help!
  2. I've emailed the reviewer, so I've done the right thing then. Thanks for your help.
  3. I do make sure I hide caches aswell as find them otherwise the hobby will never grow will it? I do like the sort of secret member part of it too ... but anyone can google geocaching and find out what it is, that's how I got hooked a friend posted on Facebook about caching and I googled and got hooked. When I post on FB about caching I often get asked what it is etc .. why peeps didn't just google like I did I dunno! lol
  4. I tell lots of people about geocaching, most people think its fun but they wouldn't want to do it. My daughter took a geocoin into show and tell cos it had done so many miles and we printed off the maps for her to show, I thought it was amazing and no-one else did! My brother caches cos I got him into it and we are plannig a trip to go caching together soon. I got my new boss into it .. that's about all ... but we love it and we've met a couple of other cachers when we've been out and about and they are all friendly and lovely. There are cachers around my area that hide and seek and I love to see their user names crop up and I'd love to meet them. Every time we find a cache we learn something new, how many other hobbies are that cool?
  5. Hi This time last week I hid 3 new caches in a local recreation area. I was pleased with all of them. Then my internet went down. I checked on my phone and they were not published and I popped a note on one asking why it was taking so long. The next day 2 out of 3 were published. It never normally takes this long to publish and I now have 2 out of 3 caches published. I am checking and no notes have been added to my listing. I don't think its too close to the other caches and I am at a loss as to why it hasn't been published. The people who have found the first 2 caches will now have to travel again to get the third. I only hid 3 cos of petrol being so costly I thought it would be better if people had 3 caches to find for their travel costs, if you see what I mean. I have contacted the reviewer and asked why this one hasn't been published but got no reply. Any ideas anyone?? Nicky
  6. Well I've submitted them! So we'll have to see!
  7. Yes, you are right about the caches. Thank you for doing the leg work for me, I appreciate it, I will acknowledge everything on the listing, after all I don't want credit, just don't like the idea of such good caches from such a good CO to go to waste. I really enjoyed Wayward Wanderer as it stumped me so many times! I would like to think that someone else would do the same for me.
  8. Thanks for that, I had already decided to make them sequels! Thanks for all the advice, it is appreciated, its such a nice day me and the geokids will go back down and replace the logs, we already took the co-ords yesterday so I will publish now as it takes a while for them to go 'live'.
  9. I have cats and no dogs but I take the geokids and geohubby caching now. Have finally got the hubby hooked now which is good! Trouble is I am impatient, so often hog the GPS device, which isn't good! But if I spot the cache quickly I will do the old hotter and colder technique to help them find it. Trouble is they don't like to get dirty, so I often have to do the getting stuck in bit!
  10. I think these are Geo-Trash then, as they have obviously just been left. This is another reason why I would like to take over. The CO had 4 caches near me and they were all inventive and nice hides, unfortunatey I only found 2 out of 4 so I think the other 2 will just end up Geo-Trash. I will definitely replace the logs and re-list them. I assume I have to acknowledge that they are replacement caches on my listing though? Just so people who have already found them don't make a special trip to find its the same one.
  11. I assumed that as I found the co-ords from here that it would only be listed here, I didn't know that there were other lising places, so thanks for that. What is Geo-Trash then? Never heard of that ...
  12. I don't take spares when I go caching, but its something I will start to do now I think. As a camper I always take spares and help people out if they need it as someone did this for us once and saved our camping trip. I think a litte bit of kindness goes a long way, as long as you can keep the CO informed in case they want to replace with their own logs etc I think it a really good idea.
  13. Thanks, I defintely think one is far too good to be lost. It took me 4 goes to find it, its sneaky! I will do it, thanks.
  14. Hi I'm quite new to caching and I found 2 lovely caches very well hidden and very popular. Unfortunately the CO has moved out of the area and archived them. I contacted the CO and offered to take over as CO but got no reply. I was out walking yesterday and checked them out and they are still in situ. What is the protocol or etiquette here? It seems a shame to deny fellow cachers these excellet caches. Can I just take over? Can I just call them a different name and re submit them? Is that likely to upset people?? Any advice appreciated. Thanks
  15. OK, that's great, had no idea I wasn't in a UK forum!!! Hahaha! You live and learn! Thanks for the heads up!
  16. I describe what my cache is in my listings so even if I get the description wrong I am clarifying it. Seems to be the done thing in the UK.
  17. I like swag but admit I think its more for the kids. I am going to start putting some of my hand made jewellery in caches just cos I think it will be a bit different! I can't see the point of swapping and then just collecting swag unless it has memories attached.
  18. I'm new to caching and live in Birmingham (UK) so I mainly find urban caches which are nanos or micros. Me and my geokids were over the moon when we found our first cache large enough for swag the other day. The cache owner had left postcards of the oldest canal bridge that the cache was nearby and my daughter was over the moon with it. My eldest daughter picked a badge and wears it everyday to school so that people can ask her about it and she can tell them about geocaching. I want people to continue to trade as I think its nice. I have some really nice tiny cars and bouncey balls and some pretty pin badges as swag. I also have some Geocaching wrist bands as swag cos they are fab.
  19. I am 40 on Wednesday. I am also a bit strapped for cash! So I'm having a Travel Bug and giving it the mission to travel to places with 40 in them, so like the M40, I40 etc etc. So, I have next weekend off work, I want to go caching with hubby and 2 kids under 10. Has anyone got any ideas of where I can go that won't be too far from Birmingham (cos of the petrol prices) but will offer me a cache big enough to start my Travel Bug off and some interesting caches please? I don't mind nanos or urban or rural caches. I would rather have a nice area to visit and quite a few caches to make it worth our while. If you have any suggestions then I would welcome them. Probably anywhere within an hour to hour and a half driving from Birmingham would be ideal. Many Thanks Nicky
  20. Hi I am just starting out. Have uploaded the geocaching Live software to my hubbies Nokia 5800 but it is very very slow and we're on PAYG so don't want to use huge amounts of credit. And we're can't seem to get it to work! So far I have been using my NavMan s90i ... but its tricky cos the only way I have found of displaying the latitude and longtitude is by taking a picture. Then I have to try and work out where I am going from there. Its OK for urban caching (I'm in Birmingham) but its time consuming and frustrating. Does anyone know how I can do things easier with either the Nokia or the Navman?? Any help appreciated ... I am bidding like crazy on eBay for a suitable GPS device to fix this but until I win an auction I would like to keep finding caches. Many Thanks Norma Stitz (say it out loud! lol!)
