  1. We have hundreds of caches in our area. So I go by: does the cache have an interesting name? I avoid macho seeming types. I will want to see something in the description that piques my interest, such as something interesting to view. I avoid multicaches because on our first and only one, the description did not say that we could either walk a rather long and rough hike, or drive to the next spot....we hiked, it rained, we could not finish the cache. I like virtual caches if the payoff is worth it. Next I read the logs and see what people have said about it. I am not terribly interested in the stuff inside though I think that is a worthy area of development. I'd like to see more imagination there, plus more in-town caches I can get to on the bus.
  2. I have a Magellan 300 which only reads (as far as I can tell) four numbers after the initial two or three, instead of five. i.e. 47 1441 instead of 47 14417. When I input the cache onto the website, the last number came our "0." Which I thought was all right, but the logs are saying the point is off by 60 to 100 feet. I did four readings, coming up to the zero point from different directions. Now I am thinking that I should triangulate???? (how?) So I can at least put a "5" in that last spot? What's your advice, I don't want people to be off by 50 feet on my next hide.
  3. I saw a clip on geocaching on Evening Magazine TV in Seattle. EdO and I needed a reason to go out on walks. He doesnt mind strolling with no purpose in mind but I like having a destination. He got me a used Magellan for Christmas cause I asked and thought it a little odd at first but liked the find.....I like that we are learning all the parks in King and Pierce county. I am the one who supposedly knows how the device works....lol. I tell everyone about it....the best response was Jake who picked up the Magellan, walked about five feet, and asked, "how far do I have to walk for it to change?" a natural. Others mostly go uh huh uh huh....
