  1. There are some full sized caches in Bowers park search from this one: gcptjj There are several full size and micros along the riverwalk you can start at the capitol ruins cache gck7em. My little girl really liked this one: gcj4xr You can take a tour of the University Campus, there are some full sized, virtual, web cam and micro caches all over the campus. Hope this helps.
  2. "the Micro Spew™ explosion" is the game now, not much that can be done about it..... Happy Cachin!
  3. Hi folks, I hope you all are doing well!
  4. I have enjoyed each episode, its kind of like caching from my desk at work. Keep up the good work!
  5. There have been similiar events in Alabama and Tennesee. You can contact folks at alacache.com and the East Tenn geocaching groups for info.
  6. Just an idea, but you could allow finders to log both caches, two smileys might equal more traffic....
  7. I found about 300 caches with old yeller, enter cordinates--select goto and follow the arrow.....
  8. Take a look at the garmin gps V deluxe edition, comes with all the cables, mapping software and mounts for around $200. I have been using this unit ever since I started caching about a year ago and have been very happy with it.
  9. Most folks will look for anything you hide, hide it and they will come.....
  10. your unit is just as good as anyone elses. Go out in your yard and mark some waypoints walk off 100' or so then using the little arrow go back, notice how far off it is over about ten times--under trees it will be worse.
  11. I guess the most important thing would be to take your time. Try not to get caught up in the hunt and just enjoy spending time with your kids. If my daughter wants to play at that playground instead of going after another cache up the road thats fine--they are only little once ya know......
  12. I have done much longer with my 4 y/o, half a mile would be ok I think. All the multi's I have done have been all micro containers until the final, so several large ones would really thrill my little girl. But some days it doesnt take long for the dreaded words "my feet are tired" to be uttered. She is perfectly happy to cache all day atop daddies shoulders.
  13. We have brought our dog with us several times, and once she even found the cache. The only times I bring her is if we are doing caches that require a lenthy hike, she always comes back but I have seen dogs take off after things while hunting and that sort of thing. I guess one way of looking at it is if she doesnt come back she wasnt much of a dog to start with....
  14. I havent been caching long but for a long while I used an old mop handle while hiking, worked like a charm and was free. Recently I was clearing some land and hard to cut down alot of very large boxwood shrubs--took a couple of the really straight ones dried them out for a while and they seem fine too but probably not as durable as some type of hardwood.
  15. My first unit was an etrex yellow-- bought it at Walmart for about $89, found 140 caches with it entering the coordinates manually--it took some time but it wasnt that bad. I then purchased a gps V for the auto routing and such and have been very happy with it. I think I gave about $190 for it but it was the deluxe addition with the maps and all. I would reccomend the gps v because of the auto-routing and maps. I have never used a magellan so I cant give an opinion on it.
