  1. sorry, I tried to put this elsewhere, not sure why it wound up in 'benchmark'
  2. Hi, I am new to this hobby and a commercial diver and recreational scuba diver (also an amateur radio operator KB4ETT), has anyone been able to have a successful submerged geocache? I was thinking of an underwater writing slate for a log (cache maintenance would be crazy... marine growth etc.) A cache of this type would require gps navigation from shore to cache site, then perhaps underwater compass navigation (not that hard guys) This idea may be more feasible on the East coast of FL due to ledges(hiding spots) are closer to the shore (3-5 miles for good visiblity, as opposed to 15 miles+ for the west coast of FL Naples) also thinking of fuel costs for such a trip... Anyone done a submerged cache on a freshwater lake where distance (fuel) and visibility may be be better? The cache could be an ammo box painted bright orange or whatever suits the feasability of such an endeavor in a particular environment. (I have performed searches underwater for many items, believe me that once a diver has gotten close to the spot it would help to make the target more visible, i.e. 70 feet deep with 5 foot viz there is a lot going on in your head) I have worked with a few divers with Navy experience, have heard some stories of scuba wrist mounted gps, but I think basic gps nav to geocache that has obvious underwater landmark and then perhaps compass nav info this would be workable. any takers? I would be willing to set up a submerged geocache just off of Naples (1.75 miles from Gordon's Pass, the St.Lucia wreck) Captain Corey
