  1. There recomendation is going to be whatever they have in stock..
  2. I'd tell the guy his kid is going to be a sissy if he's always protecting him from thorn bushes.
  3. But a Glock 23 is such a fine piece of combat gear.. I drool thinking about owning one to carry.. God help the bad guy on the other end because that's who he'll be talking to.
  4. The short answer is no. Step up to the the HC. The HC supports maps(free maps : ) and comes with a USB cable. Unless you get a screaming deal on the H.
  5. Seems like poor form by the cache owner. I could care less if there are ticks out there. If you go in the woods you can get ticks. Where bug repellant to keep them away. Check yourself when you get home. NO TICK FEAR!
  6. One reason to choose a Garmin is the free maps at: http://www.gpsfiledepot.com/ Another is that Garmin has a good reputation.
  7. Stupid is as stupid does. If you don't want to appear ignorant then YOU should take it upon yourself to learn basic grammar and spelling. Nobody is perfect but some of the kids now days are just pathetic. English as a second language is NOT a excuse if you are a US citizen.
  8. So you got a new job and your boss laid you off two weeks early? I'd file for unemployment. Might only get a week but it's money in your pocket!
  9. Cabelas is a great place to buy items on sale. I have to agree that shipping is way to high but I think you mentioned that you are getting a store bye you soon? Sometimes Cabelas has free shipping. Haven't seen that promo for a few months. The store is great, they accept returns on just about everything. They also allow you to ship to the store for free. Sometimes their website has better prices than the store. I don't think I've been to the Cabelas store in over a month.. Having withdrawals!
  10. I would check online and see if there are any free top maps of your area. I was able to get free topo maps of my area for my Venture HC. Made that GPS a excellent value vs a non-mapping model.
  11. If a coat doesn't look durable it won't be. Light weight nylon will tend to snag on bushes and thorns. Thick cotton or the thicker nylon will be the most durable. I've seen some reasonably priced work coats like Riggs and others that are much cheaper than Carhart that should work well.
  12. Thanks for the heads up on those lake maps. I'm going to go check them out as we speak. The crappie are going to start spawning soon!
  13. Do not be looking inside electrical boxes. Electricity is dangerous and kills "profesionals" every year let alone geocachers hiding stuff where it doesn't belong.
  14. That's when you get ready to draw your Fox Labs pepper spray and make them cry like a little girl. If that fails there's always your trusty EDC Spyderco in your back pocket.
  15. Thanks for all the help guys. I do have the NW Trails and the gpsdepot Topos. Can't thank whoever put those together enough. I actually used both of them last weekend. They were great. I was hoping someone might have a water depth map or be able to easily make one. The $$ for the Inland Lakes it pretty steep for the few lakes I'm planning on fishing this year.
  16. Was wondering if anyone had a topo map of this lake that they could email me in a format that I can upload into my Etrex? I know this is a long shot but it's worth trying. Thanks!
  17. You could look at a map and drive near the cache then use the gps once you get there. Be careful staring at the gps and not paying attention to your surroundings. A guy fell off a cliff here a while back while geocaching.
  18. You could put up a cache with a juicy coin in it and then put a hidden game camera pointed at the cache. You probably would have to put something in it so the perp would be caught actually taking it. Might be hard to see on the camera though.
  19. I'd leave the salt out. Not really a survival item. I'm sure a condom would be useful but I don't see myself packing a condom full of water down the trail or whatever.. Something like a tinfoil space blanket could really save your hiney out there.

  21. Just wanted to say that I really appreciate all the work done on this! I downloaded this last night and it has trails for a area near me that I like to hike. Big kudos to the person that made this happen!
  22. Thanks all! I decided on the economical Venture HC. The free maps are more than suitable for me. I'll watch for a good deal on some Inland Lake maps or find a free source for some in Eastern WA. I do have a source for basic paper topo/bathimetric? maps of the lakes around here so I've got a idea of what's under the water.
  23. Most places the cell phone service will triangulate your call and give emgergency services your location.
  24. I'd watch craigslist and look for a good deal on one.
  25. I would not get one that uses a serial port unless you are computer savvy. Some new computers do not have one and if they do they can be finicky.
