  1. Just downloaded BaseCamp for Mac and ran through their tutorial !!! Thank you so much we are back in business!! Appreciate all the help !!! Our kids have been waiting for 2 days for me to figure it all out again THANK YOU THANK YOU!!!
  2. I always used my GPS for paperless caching before when I was running it off a PC. True I don't believe I drag and dropped anything at that point. (there was GSAK (i think it was called) that I had to use.) But When looking on my main screens of my GPS there is a place for waypoints as well as one for Geocaches. I can download BaseCamp for Mac and see if that makes a difference. Thank you.
  3. Sorry I am so new to Mac it hurts (now i understand what my mother in law use to feel like when she would call to ask me PC questions) I open a finder window and see Garmin under devices but I don't have anything listed in (or as a subfolder) there except the Plugin I downloaded and ran. I can not create a folder under Garmin?? Am I looking in the right place? I try opening a second finder window and I do see the downloaded files from my query but cannot just drop from one window to the other? I went to college for computer programming in PC lol... I feel so useless in Mac Still adapting Thank you
  4. I have taken a breather from Geocaching for the last 2 years... I updated everything this weekend and thought i was good to go. I've missed it so much! Problem is I have since bought a Mac (only a week or 2 ago) I am very new to mac and learning as I go. I was able to generate a query. I have had the query emailed to me (therefore able to download it) I was able to find and download it to the Mac. I downloaded and launched the plugin for my Garmin 60CX. I can transfer each cache to my GPS individually with no problem I want to be able to send my query to my GPS and am stumped. I guess i have been spoiled with the plug and play aspect from phone etc. I use my iPhone but my battery dies too quickly when it is cold(and I don't want my kids to drop it as it's not as durable as my GPS) How do I transfer?? I See the 2 files get downloaded to my Mac I think I want to transfer both, I don't need to download more software do it? Stumped....and not the good kind. Thank you in advance for all the help.... I even just cross my fingers that I can make it back to find this topic once I get a comment on it.. lol sigh! SINCERELY, Tracy DARMA 6
  5. We cache as a family of 5 so 2 GPS are always on the go, and our son already owns a ipod touch, so we figured everyone could take part and do something to get us to the cache if we downloaded the geocaching Groundspeak app. we did but can't figure out how to use it. I'm mom of 3 kids and have always been able to figure out the "Technology" but I just dont seem to be able to get this.... We just bought the Garmin 60 cx (LOVE IT) and figured out how to download cache coordinates into it. So much easier than copy and pasting EVERYTHING! But would love to be able to bring all the readups and clues and some comments-posts with us without spending 30 miinutes copy and pasting these too. Do I have to be a premium member to take the paperless route with my IPOD TOUCH? Would really just like to plug it in and download to the Groundspeak that we bought...or did I just buy it for nothing? thank you for anyhelp. knight_tracy@hotmail.com Absolutely. $10 and you're done. Granted, it's intended for use with an iPhone, but the only fuctionality you'll lack with a Touch is being able to browse for caches online while in the field. If you get the GC app for your Touch, you'll have the same benefit as a GPS unit with paperless caching. The only difference is you carry two devices instead of one. This seems like the path of least resistance to me. You don't have to covert files and funnel them through several apps. Just one app.
  6. I just purchased this GPS (Roadmate 1340 by Magellan) for my 12 year old son, On sale 98.00 It was recommended by the man at the store, for the ease of use. I`ve never geocached before, but am soooo excited about joining the game as a family. I consider myself a pretty computer savy lady, but... I"m getting NOWHERE!!! HELP I was able to download the cache's coordinates from the website to my pc. (.log format) but nothing shows up in my GPS (ANYWHERE) I downloaded a "Vantage Point" program, but that is not recognizing my GPS *shesh* No software came with my GPS, Am I suppose to be looking for a program that works between computer to GPS, or what? Or did I get taken for a fool buying this GPS even though the sales man knew it was for geochaching? Thank you for any help possible, even a reference to another place to look. Feeling a little desperate here Tracy K. Mom of 3 Am completely ready to return this model if I've made a mistake, Can I get some suggestions about what you recommend? I only have about 100- 150 to put towards this tool.
