If Groundspeak changed the rules to prevent people logging the same event several times then yes they changed the rules. They have never cared about this in the past. Also curious what this May mean for a nearby monthly event that has been reusing the same gc for a decade, lol.

So a local cacher just showed me a link to a cache page that said Groundspeak will no longer allow people to log temps caches at events. I do not really care either way but I am curious as to when they decided this and why. Does anyone know anything about this?

I am located on the OH PA border and know of several such caches in each state.

Don't bother deleting the finds. I had the same thing happen with one of mine last month and in the end Groundspeak just gives them the find any how when they complain. So if I were you I would just remove the other cache make a mental note and move on as it is not worth dealing with the childish antics of a cacher who feels they have been wronged, lol.

I would love to see a sub section for geotrails and not only for the up to date list. It could offer a place to discuss the creation of these trails and how to get local organizations involved. I also like the ideas of the cool cache container and extreme caches sections. A sub forum for GSAK could also be handy.

Once again I am hosting the annual GeoMaSh End of the Year Chili Cook Off. A major part of this event each year is that the members of GeoMaSh collect non perishable food items for the local shelters in the Mahoning and Shenango Valleys. As I have done in pervious years everyone who brings an item is given a raffle ticket for each item they bring. One that I have seen at local events and had at mine is a timed event. You take a nano put it inside a film can inside a pill bottle inside a lock and lock inside an ammo can. Picture a Russian nesting doll type cache. You then time how long it takes each person to open all the caches, sign the log, and repack the caches as they found it. Fastest time wins. Lots of fun and very competitive.

Around here, Youngstown, we have the occasional issue of new cachers coming along, wanting to hide a cache. They notice that their are some neighborhoods that do not have caches so they rush out and hide a few caches in the nearby park. They never take into account that maybe those areas are empty for a reason. Not much of an issue though. If they are not archived after the local FTF hounds report the problems they tend to wonder off and stop caching which results in them being archived after some time. The big problem is that when people from outside the area come into town and go for these caches not knowing what they are in for at GZ.

The gc is great if your going to use the gps mostly for geocaching as it is set up with geocaching being the main focus. It also comes with a code for one free month of geocaching.

My brother, several local cachers and myself all signed up for these on the first day. As of now only one has received theirs. Getting really tired of this sort of deal.

I have the same gps and have never encountered that issue. Since you are not a premium member I am guessing you are loading the caches one by one. This may be the source of the problem as premium members can run pocket queries for several caches. Also are you looking at the cache information under the cache tab or the way point tab?
