  1. Gee. Makes me wonder if I want to do the upgrade. The only thing that I can think of(that makes it bounce around) it that it takes LESS speed to get out of "AUTO_AVERAGE". Before when it averaged it took like 1-1.5 mph for it to stop, now it must be super sensitive.... I am still going to try it. 4. I try to put in a 7+ GOOD items. Sometime to the brink of stuffing the cache. Unfortunately I have only a few item that I use so repetition sets in. I get most of my stuff from the doller store or Wall Mart. Misc tools, and or some type of out door equipment. 6. We have a cache in our area that was H2O'ed BIG TIME. It had been full of water on a couple of occasions. I finally went to hunt for it (after reading all the logs saying it was yucky (sp)) and had brought some new stuff to put in it. Thrown out just about everything. Rusty keychains, slimy toys, messed up contracters book ect. E-mailed the cache owner and he thanked me/us for doing it. He had planned on comming to fix it up this summer but it seemed to be sort of popular so he was thankfull I helped out. So now I ALLWAYS carry "SPARE PARTS" with me... 7. Sorry oregone, doesn't look good. BTW, I like your Balence Beam Cache. Not to long, not to short, it was JUST right. Of course I got confused about "WHAT" was the "balence Beam". "My gps say's it RIGHT HERE". http://www.geogadgets.com 1240 plus miles and only 8 caches?
  8. I was at my local Army Surplus store, (I can rememebr the name but not how to spell it. Is the third grade considered a senior year?) and the gentlemean who runs it was telling me the the army is starting to destroy ALL of it's surplus stuff. Reason being that they dont want militia (sp) and other hideing/storing/haveing weapon caches outr in the woods. Can anybody elaborate on this..... Researchers do this all the time with other dangerous items like SUVs, eggs, coffee, and cell phones. I understand that Harvard is a fine institution, but being in Massachusetts, it's doubtful that its researchers are truly unbiased. I don't accept the results of this study any more than I would a study published by the NRA. I own hunting weapons and several handguns. I _am not_ a member of the NRA because they frighten me as much as the anti-gun lobby. I keep my weapons in a _locked steel cabinet with trigger locks on all of them_. I plan to introduce my son to responsible gun use when he is ready. Until that time, the guns are unloaded and inaccessable. Having said all that, I rarely take anything with me for protection beyond a heavy stick. Most of the caches I've visited are in city or regional parks and I have little fear for my safety from other humans. If I have to worry about my safety or the safety of my family while geocaching, I'll give it up. -E -- N35°32.981 W98°34.631 http://img.Groundspeak.com/user/avatar/13914_200.jpg Could not agree with you more. 15. I am glad to pay (as soon as my wife gets around to it) 30 dollers to support Geocaching.com, but I am not in favor of paying to play. M.O. caches I think have there pros and cons also whiche have been voiced and beat to death, of which I am not in favor of, but do see the security reasons (for some area's). Oh, and I will get my membership..... "My gps say's it RIGHT HERE". http://www.geogadgets.com 1240 plus miles and only 8 caches?
  16. Jeep, JEEP! If a Jeep was the prize for the first finder (which we seem to have frist finder prizes in most caches) I'll be the first to BAG it. Sorry Goss, but you'll just have to settle for second. Or should I just call you Number Two? "My gps say's it RIGHT HERE". http://www.geogadgets.com 1240 plus miles and only 8 caches?
  17. Tere are two caches in my zip that have never been found. They are more then likly to have to be done during the summer. I am watting for better weather to go BAG them because they have been out for a long time. Over 4-6 months. I am planning one myself that will require a 3hr hike in and a 6hr hike out (depending on what physicle condition your in. Me, air lifted). But it has a monument of a WWII airplane crash at the site so it has Great history behind it. Plus it will have something special for the first couple of finders, just as a little incentive. Leave the caches there. Some of the best caches are the ones that don't get much traffic, which makes them more appealing to some "hunters". 18. Magellan is the only GPS in this house so far. A 315 and a Maridian. I would like to try one (Garmin) that has an external antenna, so I can pot the antenna on a pole, or on my hat, on the roof of my car, so I dont have to have the "UNIT" in sight of the sats. I would like to free up my hands for other things. If Magellan made a Meri-Gold with an external antenna, I would more then likely get it. 20. My wife RedwoodRed took a couple of spills on out trip to Hillsboro. The Meridian wento flying through the air about 10-15 feet both time. Rugged little unit. I still like the 315 but the maps on the Meri are cool (except the soft I bought was written for the 330). I do have a question I could used answered. When I have it pluged into power, the batts seem to run down. Now I am useing the power cable from the 315 to power it. Does the Meridian take moew "juice" than the 315? I have not gone to the Magellan web site yet to check on my answer.... "My gps say's it RIGHT HERE". http://www.geogadgets.com 1240 plus miles and only 8 caches?
