  1. Back in 2005 I attempted to place 3 caches along a trail in a 80 acre park. They were denied because it was called a power trail. So the answer is 3.
  2. How does the touch screen work with those gloves on ?
  3. Just remember those mirco SD cards have a habit of jumping out of their fixture when you change batteries. A little bit of tape holds it in.
  4. Yup When I travel around the world that is what I use.
  5. I went to see a big hole in the ground Barringer Crater Earthcache
  6. One thing to keep in mind is not all Nuvis treat the POIs the same way. When my 265WT recently died I had to try out 3 different units before I found one that worked correctly. I now have a Nuvi 2598LMT
  7. This one. Of course you need to have that stuff loaded into your database. I haven't looked at that one. I've used always used This One
  8. I find field notes to be useless. I have always kept a small notebook keeping track of finds, imputing even a small amount of text is painfully slow on the Garmin. I tested that out once, I wrote a complete paragraph vs my friend getting a few words in his 62s. Using the proper GSAK macro I get the full cache description and as many logs as I want to see in my 62s. Automating GSAK I can update my POIs quickly so even marking it as found on the GPS is not needed.
  9. Staples recently had the Surface Pro 2 on a big clearance sale. It is a 10 inch PC based tablet. It runs GSAK just fine and interfaces with my Garmin 62S. I don't know why the Surface has had such bad reviews but I find it a heck of a lot more usable than iPad. One thing I hate is the glossy screen.
  10. My 265WT recently died. I had to buy 3 garmin units to finally find one that still does the Garmin POIs correctly. I now own a Garmin 2598LMT and it works good for me.
  11. Using garmin POIs i still have not reached the upper limit as of yet. I can load all of Oregon and Washington on my 62s about 60,000 caches.
  12. I just downloaded "MyFinds PQ" to check it out. My finds in Greece still show the states. But the cache listing doesn't.
  13. Back in the good ole days I tried to place 3 caches in an 80 acre park along along a trail. My caches got denied because the reviewer said I was putting out a power trail. So the answer is 3.
  14. Some people consider McAfee a virus/malware since a lot of adobe products will install it without your knowledge (because you didn't uncheck it when installing an Adobe update.)
  15. The Confederation Trail is actually one power trail I would consider doing, it is strictly a walking/biking trail about 273 km long. I briefly stopped by the Island a few years ago collecting provinces. The Confederation Bridge was impressive (it cost $45 for the round-trip).
  16. I always load all my previous finds on my GPSr. If I'm out caching with a friend that hasn't found a cache then I have it on mine. I also use my finds for placing new caches that way I know I'm not to close to an existing cache. All using Garmin POIs you can load unlimited caches on your unit.
  17. The attribute gif use to have a number associated with it. I had a puzzle that used that information.
  18. Unfortunately fotologging is quite prevalent around the world. Fotologging Worse than throw downs?
  19. Say hi to my buddy Cumil while you're in town. I'll be staying a kilometer away thanks for the intel.
  20. Taking advantage of some creative mileage tickets I’ll be heading from Seattle to Vienna this October. Will take the train up to Warsaw Poland stopping in Bratislava Slovakia then head back to Vienna. Next leg will fly to Bangkok (hopefully not flying over Ukraine) a pit stop in Bangkok and then to Taiwan. A couple days in Japan and then back to the Emerald city.
  21. So if a geocacher places a cache right where a well established letterbox is, the letterboxer should trash the geocache ?
  22. The 62S has 1.7 GB of internal memory I tried to install maps to the SD card but they were dreadfully slow.
