  1. Oh how I wish I could make something like that but alas, I have no tools!! Following a past forum thread detailing exactly how to build one of those cryptex tubes, I rushed right out and spent a gazillion dollars on tools and parts. After about a month I realized that having the right tools wasn't helping, as I gots no skillz. I have some skills but more machines that will pretty much get me there. However it's still not a fast process. The right tools makes this project easier, but patience is really the best thing...my dad and I got together a year ago, and put one of these together using a handheld drill, hacksaw, pocketknife, sandpaper, and a workbench vice. Incidentally, it's in use in the above-mentioned Poe-themed cache that I'm slowly putting together.
  2. What's the theme? I had been working on a multi based on Edgar Allen Poe's The Gold Bug, but I never could find a suitable skull, (or tree for that matter, [you'd have to read the story to understand...]) so I scaled back a bit.
  3. You store the pictures on photobucket, image shack or some such place. Then on your post you put (img)url of picture(/img) and your picture shows up. Only use a "[" and "]" instead of a "(" ")", I had to use the parens to get the syntax past the forum software. thanks Actually, I prefer to store them in the gallery of an archived cache of mine. That way they are always accessable. As you look through this thread, you will find many posts where the pictures are no longer viewable because the photobucket, image shack, or whatever account has been closed. Images saved to a geocaching.com gallery will always be accessible here. Agreed...for reference, simply visit page 1. Regarding labels on the cryptex...I've recently completed one, though I have yet to put it out. I used letter/number stickers from the local craft supply store, and covered with 3-5 layers of clear spray paint. Only time will tell whether or not that will last, though I've been intentionally rough with it to test it, and so far it seems to be working...
  4. Here's some pics of my version of HHH's evil ant hill in it's original placement. I've since moved, and moved it with me. http://headhardhat-geocache.blogspot.com/2010/06/very-nice-modification-of-my-evil-ant.html
  5. Problem with HHH's evil ant hill video is that it only works in a few states. Here in washington we don't have ant hills like that, but hills three times as big. Same for me, which is what inspired me to modify HHH's original design to the resin-based one he blogged about, and inspired him to do the evil nano ones from the second vdeo. I will try to post pics of my cache in the coming days. Regarding altoid cans...I saw one not rusted once. It was ujder a lamp post skirt! :-)
  6. What did you use to glue to the Lock-N-Lock? I used hot glue (i hope thats right in english). Regarding your pink photos...look in your camera's settings for something related to White Balance. I believe that is where you will find a solution.
  7. Personal observation --if I came across this, I'd really freak. I'm terribly snake phobic. Could cause some people (like me) I agree. While im not phobic of snakes, I don't like dealing with em, and avoid them unless there's a glass wall between me and the snake. Unless, of course, the snake was clearly and obviously fake, but I guess that would defeat the purpose of the camo, eh? I guess its like the fake poop camo (which I also dislike)--it may be fake, but who REALLY wants to risk finding out?
  8. I dont beloeve it's a rule, its just that some here REALLY frown on electricaltype stuff that has the cacher poking around such...
  9. Haha wow! There's NO way I'd be man enough to go for that one! That's worse than the fake poo ones, cause you can at least poke those with a stick
  10. Uhm....It has a foot on the end....that helps, right? In on-topic news; I've created a reflector cache, but haven't placed it yet. I got a set from the hardware store, popped the red part out of the white case, and used resin to secure magnets to each half. And oh, em, gee, sorry bout them huge images!
  11. No, a lock-n-lock is a tupperware-type container, where the lid has 4 "tabs" that fold down/snap to the base: one on each side. This is a lock-n-lock container... Oh my GOD! Are you OK? Should we call someone? Man! Your leg just came right off when he pulled it. *checks* Call in the search dogs! One of my legs is missing! I'd help search, but....seeing as I've got limited mobility at the moment....
