  1. I think it sounds like a good idea...funny too....every time i read your handle i think the law is on our side...should i get stopped for a ticket i believe i will start asking if the officer knows what caching is?
  2. i thought we were talking about what people are free to do? dont point fingers at me...i am just saying that some folks idea of freedom has limits on it, which isnt freedom at all. true freedom is anarchy. i just dont hunt the lame ones...there are six in our area that have been placed that i wont touch...destrying a cache is foul play but you are free to conduct foul play if that is what you do "because you can".
  3. If it is not private land it will eventually have to be voted on to make it law not to place caches in an area. Those who care should get out there and not take this sitting down. VOTE...make stink, write a congressman/woman. Someone will listen, someone will do something if you become the squeaky wheel. I know few will do this because few have tried to use the system to get something...they are generally complaining about it.
  4. There is a YJTB here in Charleston, SC but it is stuck in the cache "Gator Bait", not a very visited cache due to the requirements. Maybe it is safer here. That way the cheap cachers that keep the YJTBs cant get it unless they are desperate?!
  5. maybe we could form city cache unions and you have to get our permission to place a cache in our area. it is a shame for folks to ocme to an area and place several micros that are not welcome. as you can see there are several that were placed in the Charlesotn area that arent doing so hot...they arent welcome.
  6. they should make micros as hard to approve as virtuals...there better be a good reason to get it approved.
  7. they should make micros as hard to approve as they do virtuals...there better be a really good reason why you are wanting it to be approved.
  8. I was wondering who in the Charleston area would participate in a CITO event if one was scheduled for two Charleston area caches? If you have logged either one of these you will knwo what i mean. The second one is only recognizable if you take the hike through the woods and not the easy way in. The two caches are Here Fishy Fishy - GCKMVY Strip Mall Sanctuary - GCMD0C I think that they should be seperate events but both spots could use an event like this really bad. I would be willing to set this up but i need to know how to get rid of all the trash. Would we have a dump we take it to or just dump it in a nearby dumpster? If anyone has set up one of these please give me some advice.
  9. huh! i never knew about those...thanks for the info...i think i'll make a dash for one..one day
  10. I need help from the Knoxville, TN area to complete a locationless cache called Where's In A Name? (GC3153). If you can intersect me on the W 83 26.74 i would greatly appreciate it. Please e-mail me and we can further discuss this.
  11. I need help from the Toledo, OH/Detroit, MI/Flint, MI area to complete a locationless cache called Where's In A Name? (GC3153). If you can intersect me on the W 83 26.74 i would greatly appreciate it. Please e-mail me and we can further discuss this.
  12. i have logged a fair bit of caches but i have never heard of an earth cache. what are they and could you provide a link to one?
  13. print out the cache and i write all info on that paper...
  14. i was wondering...there are Jeeps, geocoins, TBs, moun10bike coins...what other ideas do you have that Groundspeak could make as a new icon to be tracked? it seems getting another icon is pretty exciting especially if you have figured out a hard mystery cache or if you found a Project APE cache. what other great ideas are there?
  15. give them to my wife to put in her scrapbook...
  16. quad helix antennas all around or some sort of GPS in line amp to boost a weak signal...this would be great for heavy tree cover.
  17. is anyone using this in replacement for printing out hundreds of caches on paper? what software do you use with it to tracks your caches? I am looking to purchase soon and was wondering who uses what with this model of handheld?
  18. working with GPS in the military now for ten years and have used several models and ancillary equipment i have come across two factors that work hand in hand with each other. one cannot be affected by technology the other can. one is the area of sky visible to the GPSr, two the ability for the antenna to receive a signal from any point. either you can grow another 100 ft to ensure a really good look at the sky from almost anywhere or find a GPSr with a good antenna design. after using several factory test models from all the major GPSr makers i have found that in my most recent studies that the new Garmin GPS60 and GPSMAP60 with the new quad helix antennas have gotten better reception in nearly every test over the ones we have tested. unless you can afford a 5000 dollar professional GPS, i would personally go with one of the aforementioned ones. i personally use e-trex legend c, only because i bought it and than they came out with the GPS60.
  19. put this in off topic and it is still there but i fugured i would post it here to. this is a great web site to make a map of all states you have cached in and how many in each state. http://monarch.tamu.edu/~maps2/ enjoy
  20. what are some of the hardest puzzle/mystery caches you have tried or completed?
  21. there are so many lame micros because people are lazy and lack creativity. it is such a dissapointment that such a great area like Myrtle Beach is flooded with meaningless micros. i cant understand it whatever it is. The only cache i will pick up in NC is the Tube Torcher because the rest of the state is filled with micros from the likes of several cachers that are trying to spread their lame micro caches to Charleston, SC. some people are going as far to destroy public land when they hide caches. for the love of the game/sport/hobby...if you find an awesome spot to goto, find some place nearby and hide a regular than try and cheapen the experience with a lame micro. there are very few micros that we have around here that are worth hunting...mostly put out by swamp thing, btw if you want to learn about a good micro...check his out... but the lame micro epidemic is spreading...just boycott finding them...i wont die and neither will you if you never have over a 1000 caches completed.
