I am new to the Waymarking side of the house but I understand the concern. Technically, putting someone else's writing in your own words without attribution is still plagiarism. I have been placing the information from markers in quotes with the source below.

We routinely geocache with our dog Millie. Along with the required vaccination tag, I attached one of my military dog tags for identification. At a recent event, a geocacher mistook the military dog tag for a TB and then suggested I should attach a TB to the dog. Seems like a good idea, I could log her in and out of caches and allow people to "grab it" at geocache events. Just trying to avoid pitfalls and see if anyone else has done similar.
