  1. I follow the arrow, but I do pay attention to how far away I am on the same screen and try to guess which way to go around large obstacles such as ponds, etc. My map screen still doesn't have the neighborhood next to mine that was built two years ago, I doubt it is going to alert me to every little ditch, pond and ravine that I have to cross.
  2. I would like the ability to toggle waypoints on and off on my map screen. With 500 waypoints in a 20 mile radius it can be hard to see the map due to all of the waypoints, until you zoom in quite a bit. If this is something that can already be done, just slap me and point me in the right direction.
  3. I've only recently started posting here, but I have been posting in different formats for years and years... USENET and before that BBS's. Eventually you just learn that some half the people who come across as jerks didn't really mean it that way and the other half I feel sorry for if they are taking some ASCII text from some invisible person that they don't even know so seriously. I learn a lot in forums and find them beneficial for just about everything in life (how sad is that?)... from learning how to drain my waterheater to gapping the spark plugs on my jetski, etc. Besides, I've spent some time posting on religious forums and if you can take the brunt of some of those folks you can pretty much handle anything.
  4. On Yahoo, if I type in brad angela geocaching... We're the first and second hit!
  5. You brought a tear to my eye! That's just beautiful! I like the term muggle, I like Harry Potter, I am definitely a geek, and I don't care. Didn't these guys see Revenge of the Nerds? The Nerds won!
  6. I'm going to be buying a Meridian Gold within the next week. I know Wal-mart sells it for $199.00 and I've seen it on the internet for about $170.00. Are there any good deals anywhere right now where I can get it for $170 or lower?
  7. Uper, that sounds pretty similar to the way it works in Texas. Since I am recently married I have had to stop carrying a gun in the car, otherwise I have to remember to move it back and forth when my wife drives the car since she does not have her license.
  8. My Magellen GPS 2000 actually seems to be more accurate sometimes than my friends newer GPS's. I just have to round off the last digit to .XX instead of .XXX. We still plan on getting a newer GPS soon so we can download waypoints, etc.
  9. Out of 19 finds, I've found one without a GPS. It required triangulation and I hate math so I just did it all in Microsoft S & T and it got me within 100 feet or so of the cache.
  10. Discussions like this are what make those cavemen commercials so funny. Announcer: "It's so simple even a caveman could do it!" Caveman to other caveman: "Did you hear what he just said?" Other caveman: "Unbelievable!"
  11. I just had an epiphany but it probably won't make sense to anyone but me - cuz that's just the kind of guy I am... I like vanilla ice cream and don't mind if other people eat rocky road ice cream, but it would annoy me if they kept rubbing their ice cream in my face... for that matter it would annoy me if someone kept rubbing vanilla ice cream in my face, even though I like it. I'm not judging anyone else for eating rocky road... but I don't understand why they keep sticking it in my face and forcing me to look at it.
  12. Why is it that you feel that you can make a generalization such as this one, yet if I did the same thing from the opposite end of the spectrum and used words like glory holes or tossing salad it would probably be too offensive for your delicate sensibilities? Yes, I admit on behalf of the entire heterosexual community that we have gerbil parties when you are not looking, and pretend to be wholesome and moral the rest of the time. Feel better now?
  13. Regardless of whether the slogan has been used by one party or another... you cannot police a phrase that doesn't even say anything negative. You can imply that there is something negative in the intent, but not in the phrase itself... and you cannot police intent (or thought). It would be different if this person was leaving a Bible verse such as Leviticus 20:13 everywhere they went. In today's society that would be considered intolerance. If someone started a movement against a minority group and "Don't Worry Be Happy" was their slogan... should we then regulate the phrase "Don't Worry Be Happy"?
  14. Without knowing the sticker placers intention (and none of us do - you can only make an assumption), you are trying to police "thoughts". All I want to know is, where can I get some of those stickers?
  15. I'm going to be selling a mod-chip for these later. $29.99 for a little metallic sticker that is guaranteed to increase your Antenna Frog performance by 65%.
  16. I just went through this as well and these kind folks helped me figure it out. You just need any mapping software that supports NMEA v2.0 compatible GPS devices, and I'm sure your Meriplat is compatible. I hooked a friend's up to my laptop with Microsoft Streets and Trips 2004 and it works great. Kind of fun too! One catch, if you are using a program to download waypoints to your GPS, you might need to exit that program so that it will release the com port and allow your map software to use it.
  17. I considered a photoprinter and decided not to buy one. I can go to my grocery store or to Sam's and get 4x6 prints for .10 to .15 cents each. If I did buy a photoprinter, a year from now it would be obsolete, or the replacement cartridge for it would cost $50 - $100 probably. I'd rather let the corporations take the loss on obsolete technology than doing it myself. I can always choose to have my photos developed at a place where they just recently upgraded their processing equipment.
  18. Here are two Texans and two doggies that are not upset... I guess we haven't been around long enough yet to develop any biases/complaints.
  19. Maybe you really did travel that far and back in an instant, and now that you have your GPSr, you actually notice it. Did you experience any dizziness or anything when this happened?
  20. I'm no expert but I wouldn't consider my 802.11b router to be high powered since the range is 300 ft. maximum (not counting walls, etc.) I imagine my mobile phone generates a more powerful signal than my router, but I could be mistaken.
  21. Good point, I've never used that either. It would be nice to know if it actually works.
