  1. I started caching with a phone - so I learned to start looking 30-40 feet out as I was approaching where I think GZ is. Even though I now have a 'real' gps - I still start looking for likely hiding spots 30 feet out as I approach GZ.
  2. Do you know if they sell nano containers? I have a cache that is in a unique location and have tried containers larger than a nano but they've gone missing several times. It's currently missing so I need something to replaced it and a nano is probably the best container for this location. Since I don't cache much locally anymore I'm not hiding new caches so I really only need 1 and can't see placing a mail order for a single nano cache container. I assume you're referring to the NH store. I don't know, as I have never been there and have no relationship with them. You can find contact info for them on their facebook page (https://www.facebook.com/GoneCachin) or web page (gonecachin.com). They aren't open every day, so check the hours. Actually, I was thinking of Groundspeak HQ. I'm going to be in Seattle in about three weeks. The Gone Cachin store in Nashua NH - definitely has all types of nano's. Somewhat nearby is an awesome cache also (top NH favorite) called Nashuan's First Cache - GC1D56C. Springcat
  3. My poor son (9 years old) got attacked by yellowjackets today. Got his first IV at urgent care to help with the allergic reaction. I'm never gonna be able to get him to go in the woods with me again!
  4. I have left a blatant hint in one of my logs - the cache was a tribute cache to a local soldier who died. There was a nice memorial stone and plaque and a little garden around it at the base of one our ski areas. Many people had logged DNF's on this 1.5 difficulty cache and also mentioned in their logs they felt disrespectful disturbing the garden area. My geocaching friend and I put blatant hints in the logs so that this memorial site wouldn't have to be disturbed by people looking under rocks and plants. We directed them directly to where it was hidden so that they could see the story and pictures of the soldier that gave his life. One of the only times I've done it, but felt it justified.
  5. I'm in NH - have a few challenges I'm working toward - we have the 234 challenge - which is to find a cache in each of our 234 cities/towns that are incorporated - I'm at 196. We have a covered bridge challenge - to get a cache within 1/2 mile of each of our covered bridges. I finished the "17" challenge - where 17% of my finds needed to be puzzle caches. Now I'm working toward filling in my caching calendar for a challenge and another challenge called "20" where you have to have your calendar filled in but to qualify you can only use 20 traditionals to have filled the calendar and you must have at least 20 multi's, puzzles, letterbox hybrids, virtuals, events, earthcaches, and benchmarks and at least 6 rare icons. Will take me another year (at least to finish) but I lean to trying to find a non traditional over a traditional to replace traditionals for that calendar day now.
  6. I have a new geocache and though it has had 6 finds today - have not received any logs in my email. Appears this issue of notifications is still ongoing.
  7. Thanks for making the App! Just downloaded it yesterday and used it today on my quest to find 20 benchmarks for this challenge I'm working on in NH. Came in handy!
  8. I'm able to correct coordinates and have them saved on the website, but they don't save to the phone. I don't always have my gps with me and would love to know that corrected coordinates from the website show up on my phone. Thanks! Springcat
  9. I'm using Chrome and windows 7 home. When I use Internet Explorer (which I really don't want to have to use), it is able to detect the plugin and send to my gps. Springcat
  10. I just got a refurbished Oregon 450 back from Garmin and went to load a cache and getting the same error described above. However I do have the program listed in programs, but geocaching website doesn't recognize that I have the plugin already. I updated all the software and drivers on gps unit. Have latest plugin. Garmin test page does recognize my gps as plugged in as well as my computer seeing it as a F drive. How can I get it to recoginize the plugin? Thanks!
  11. Sure wish we lived in your area! That is amazing! I went out and found this cache on Monday - it was truly amazing!
  12. Sure wish we lived in your area! That is amazing! He has one of the top favorite caches in NH - a multi. It's truly a masterpiece. I highly recommend if you are ever in the southern NH area - make a detour for his caches. You won't be disappointed! And after watching this spoiler video - I now need to make an effort to solve this puzzle! (I'm not much of a puzzle person). Springcat
  13. Just tried signing up for this website but I can't get the find button (step 2) to work for it to look on my computer for the myfinds query. Springcat
  14. Just looked - seems like CO is giving FTF to someone who posted he didn't find it. Leads me to believe that there really is no cache. I take it you have reached out to Rich? Come close to meeting Team Yianni a couple times but he always beat me to GZ and is long gone by the time I get back to my car. LOL I don't like this cache either.
  15. I agree! Volunteers here in the forums to keep us on track and nice and proof that nice people do exist out there! Springcat
  16. http://userscripts.org/scripts/show/125926 This one seems to work with Chrome. Thank you thank you thank you! Hated the new maps! Springcat
  17. Could you run me through how to do this? I tried again and none of the premium cache's I want to look for are populating on my search. Sure, when the app opens and you are at the screen that shows you the coordinates of your current location and has find nearby geocaches or advanced search. Tap on the menu button at the top left corner. Then click on change settings. Click on change user. This will basically sign you out and you sign in as yourself again. Once I did this, I was able to see premium caches. Springcat Ahh they should definitely post this "tidbit" in the iPhone app area more predominately. It leads me to believe if you sign up for premium after setting up the app it doesn't show premium caches. By resetting the login you can see them. Thanks so much Springcat, now I don't feel like I bought premium for nothing! Your welcome! Springcat
  18. I have found over 230 geocaches premium included with my iphone. I can search premium member searches also. I used the advanced search features if I want to search within a zipcode. Try logging out and logging back in and you should see the premium caches. I would like a gps just so I can do longer in the woods searching as battery life on the iphone can be limited. But right now as long as I don't stray too far from my car charger for too long of a period, the iphone works great! Springcat Could you run me through how to do this? 20. I was out geocaching with my sister a few weeks ago. Both of us on our smartphones - hers a Droid, mine an Iphone. Her distance reading would be more accurate than mine -.11 miles,.12,.14, .16.... mine would only show .1 or .2 or .3 miles and didn't have the more detail mileage. It would be very useful to have that on the iphone so we can tell quicker if we are actually going in the right direction. Thanks for considering this feature request. Springcat
  21. You need to log on as different member (even though you put in your own info again) from the settings page. I realized that last week. So I essentially logged out and logged back in and the premium caches showed up in the search results.
