  1. I solved it kind of. It turns that my palm handheld's sync software was loaded, and it kept fighting with the GPS over COM4. I quit the software, and it worked on garmin's site, BUT THERES STILL AN ISSUE... It still gives me the error on the gc.com free pm thingy... How can I fix THAT?
  2. I would, but 1: it's a used GPS, and 2: they specifically say on their website that they do not give customer support for serial connection trouble...
  3. OK, so I recently bought a Garmin eTrex Venture. When I got home, I took the unit and cable out of the box. UGH its SERIAL!!! So I dug out my serial-to-USB converter, hooked it all up, installed the drivers and Garmin Communicator, went into GSAK, set it up, and it surprisingly worked. I transferred some caches, and it worked perfectly. BUT NOW HERE IS THE PROBLEM. It's been about a week, and I went to claim my free trial premium membership. So I hooked up my Garmin, the PC went "da dunk" like it does when you plug in something. I turned the unit on, registered it at the garmin website, and then went to the gc.com garmin free premium membership trial. I hit "Activate your trial" and it says this: "The Garmin device is either not connected or to isn't registered at My Garmin." So I went to the Garmin Communicator test page, and it says that the plugin is installed, but it does not detect the unit... Could someone please help me?

  5. Because, Like the OP, I cracked a tough puzzle in my area, and I am looking forward to searching for the cache.
  6. OK, I have a question... How do I send my database from GSAK 7 to the new GSAK 8??? Wait, never mind, I'll just clear it and rebuild it from new GPX's.
  7. Don't you have the Copy tags? The numbers should be the same. I think they are other people's TBs, not his.
  8. I have no clue how this has even been open for this long. By the way, IBTL.
  9. I used a car mounted GPS for my first DNF, and my second. Then I switched to an Apipsphere Geomate.jr, and it worked OK. Now I use a garmin eTrex venture ("the type hikers use")and it works great. Oh, I never found any with the car GPS by the way...

  11. Thank you very much!! ^ Did I not mention in my OP that I was already using GSAK? But thanks anyway, I figured it out on my own. You text doesn't indicate that you are using PQ's but are using LOC files. ^^
  12. Well, most of my threads get replied within about 10 mins, unless it's a "do not post" thread. Then it gets a reply in about 1 minute.

  14. Go to the thread "GPSR Question". I COMMAND YOU to answer it !!!! (Please?)
  15. Here's a quote from the cache's description: Deliberate means "carefully weighed or considered; studied; intentional" So what I'm saying is Ryan intentionally chose to place a micro where a larger cache would fit. Plus he choose a container (glass vial) that can potentially be hazardous. Ryan asked for opinions on his hides and I take it that means he wants constructive feedback in order to improve them and create a good caching experience for others. P.S. I am old enough to be Ryan's grandmother (i.e. I am not a guy - not that that's a bad thing ). I think Ryan is in his early teens. Kids sometimes need some guidance. Plus my caching radius includes Ryan's area so that means I would be searching for some of his caches and I'd like it to be a win-win experience. 1: How do you know my name? And 2: The glass vial is quite thick, and GZ is far enough away from a hard surface that the cache wouldn't break if dropped. If you are implying that you don't like my cache, that's fine. But from what I've seen, (correct me if I'm wrong,) most, if not all finders did not complain.
  16. Hello. I just recently bought a used Garmin eTrex venture. It connects to the computer fine, and I can send caches to it from the cache page. 2 questions: How can I send PQs to it thru GSAK, and how can I delete the last person's waypoints from it?
  17. When on an iphone, keep in mind that it may be very inaccurate. Also, I use the Official Groundspeak Geocaching app when I'm on an iPhone.
  18. Didn't you read the post? Two things; 1 ) Lone R is not demanding an explanation. He is asking a question. If you had read the post, you would know that Team Krammer asked for feedback. Generally, when someone asks for feedback, they are asking others for their honest opinions. Lone R asked a question so he could offer a valid opinion. There is nothing rude or uncharitable about that. But you jumping down his throat, making baseless accusations, is certainly uncalled for. 2 ) Had you done even a modicum of research you would have learned that Lone R doesn't dislike micros. A kwick glance at his favorites list, (which contains micros), or a peek at the very positive logs he has left on micros would have shown you that. I think you owe Lone R an apology. I read the post and I don't owe him anything. He has his opinion and I have mine. To use words like you deliberatly placed a micro where a larger cache would fit is rude and uncalled for. It's part of team Kramers series. Also I've been around these forums long enough to know that Lone R doesn't like micros. Anyways, I dont think the series will happen until I either A: find more or B: archive one. finding a few more is a much better idea, so I better get out there!
  19. GSAK Will do it plus MUCH more. Darn1 Beat me before I could link...
