  1. What I do is load my GPX PQ files into GSAK, and then transfer the whole database from there. The same should work for you, just use the LOCs instead of GPX.
  2. I'm not 100% certain, but there is probably a GSAK macro for that!
  3. How did you sign up here with the same emails? Doesn't the email here have to be unique? In any event, I monitor the girls as well. I own my own email server and they have their own email addresses but I get copies of every message received or sent from any of their accounts. They have strict rules as to where and what they do on the internet. This site is clearly child friendly but that doesn't mean there can't be things or people to be careful of. They are responsible kids or I wouldn't allow them here so thats not an issue. I am simply trying to follow the rules and I can't seem to find any regarding families or kids other than in the TOS: By using the Site, you represent and warrant that you are 18 years of age or older, or under the supervision of your parent or legal guardian. If we believe that you are under 18 years of age and not under the supervision of your parent or legal guardian, please be advised that your account may be terminated without warning. She is, obviously, under 18 but is under my supervision. I don't want her account suspended for being under 18 and using geocaching.com, say when they are out with a group from the neighborhood without me or out with her girl scout troop and she logs a cache. So, how do you go about monitoring your kid's logs here? Are there settings somewhere I can flip on to allow me to do that properly? If you are using Gmail, there is one way. Say your email address is geocacher@gmail.com. Sign up for your account with that. Then say one other family member is bob. Sign up with geocacher+bob@gmail.com. All email sent to geocacher+bob@gmail.com will be forwarded to geocacher@gmail.com, without creating a second account. See here for more info, and for ways for other email providers. Linky
  4. Wow, another reply! Thanks, but as I said in previous post, figured it out before I looked back.
  5. Hmm, I would never assume that. Just because the locals don't post here, it doesn't mean they don't read the forums. Anyway, I did the latitude calculation, and got the wrong answer (as expected). I worked backward for both, and your bogus coords should be 23.480 less on the latitude and 0.022 less on the longitude to make it work. I've avoided mentioning any absolute numbers in case you want to edit this topic to remove any spoilers. Thanks for the reply, but I looked back a minute too late. I already moved some brackets and numbers around to get it working, and changed the bogus coords. It is now 100% more solveable!
  6. OK, I have hidden a puzzle cache, where you need to get a set of numbers, and then plug them into a formula using bogus coords to get the real coords. It worked when I derived the formula, but now it doesn't. I will post spoilers here, as it is my own cache and nobody in my area uses these forums. The instructions are like this: The numbers are these: [redacted] And the formula is this: The final coords you SHOULD get by doing the math are these: [redacted] You do the math as per instructions. Does it work for you? I didn't think so. How can I make it work? The bogus coords can be changed, but the numbers and final coords must stay the same. Help me PLEASE! Edited to remove coords, as I have fixed it. Edited again to remove letter values.
  7. Personally, our family uses one account (this one). It makes it easier if you ever get a PM and wish to find PMO caches. It is cheaper to get a PM for one account than 3, obviously. I would stick with 1 family account, but that is just my opinion. Edit: I see you have a PM already. I would keep the one account and log everyone's finds as one "found" log to each cache under it. Edited again: Welcome to the hobby, the adventure, the addiction: Geocaching! I really should start being more friendly to new members. This shouldn't make a difference... non PM's can still log PMO caches online, they just can't view the description and read the logs like normal. The one PM account could get access to the caches you find as a family, and everyone can still log it as a 'find'. Edit for clarity. It's just an annoying process though...

  9. I know it can't compare to most of what's already in this thread, but I like my own cache GC2YX6B because of some of the logs I have gotten of people's adventure finding the cache. (scroll down through the logs to see the good ones, and the FTF. Most of the newest ones were from a large caching group that found a lot of caches that day, so all the logs are short)
  10. The reason for the UV lights are because some special types of multi and puzzle caches use coordinates to the next stage written in UV ink.
  11. I want to imbed a small (emote sized) offsite image in my forum signature. This is the image: How do I imbed it? Ooops wrong image, finding new
  12. In the geocache there probably was a number/code that started with "GC", such as "GC123ABC." Do you have that?
  13. http://www.anandtech.com/show/4483/motorola-droid-x2-review-a-droid-x-with-tegra-2/8 Quote from the site: Finally we have GPS on the X2, which locks extremely quickly and shows similar performance to the original X. I’m not entirely certain, but it’s possible the X2 is using Qualcomm’s GPS on the MDM6600, or at least it would make a lot of sense to. Again, fixes happened extremely quickly on the device when given a good swath of visible sky. Even indoors, the X2 frequently was able to get a good 3D GPS fix, which is more than I can say for a number of other Android handsets. From Verizon: "GPS Location - Motorola DROID X2 MB870 Caution Satellite GPS requires more power and will have an effect on battery life. " From the Manual for my phone: "GPS & AGPS Your mobile device can use Global Positioning System (GPS) signals for location-based applications. GPS uses satellites controlled by the U.S. government that are subject to changes implemented in accordance with the Department of Defense policy and the Federal Radio Navigation Plan. These changes may affect the performance of location technology on your mobile device. Your mobile device can also use Assisted Global Positioning System (AGPS), which obtains information from the cellular network to improve GPS performance. AGPS uses your wireless service provider's network and therefore airtime, data charges, and/or additional charges may apply in accordance with your service plan. Contact your wireless service provider for details." I can only deduce that it does indeed have and use satellite based GPS using a GPS receiver and antenna in the phone. I think you deduced right. You have one of the phones that are good better than most others I have seen for geocaching. I have found quite a few caches accurately with my ZTE phone, with an internal GPSr. Edited for spelling and rephrasing.
  14. I will bet you anything that the actual GPSr (the one that is 20 years old) will be much more accurate than the phone, UNLESS the phone contains an actual GPS chip. Look at your phone's specs. Some use an actual GPS, while others triangulate with cell towers, which is often highly inaccurate.
  15. Also, if you are using HTML and need to hit e n t e r , You can't. You need to put <br> wherever you would normally hit enter, if you want empty lines in your cache description. I just figured I would tell you, because it took me awhile and then a post to the forum to figure it out.
  16. I believe it is either the eTrex Venture H or Legend H that has the averaging function. I used to own one, but I forget which of the 2 I mentioned it was.
  17. If leaving it out does not work, try disabling WAAS. On my GPSr, in my location (near Toronto, Canada), The GPS REFUSES to work with WAAS on. I let it sit for hours without it getting a lock. As soon as I disabled WAAS, it had a satellite lock within minutes.
  18. Another thing which I'd reccomend, to the OP, is to search for caches that are Small, Regular, or Large sized for your first time. Also, search for a Traditional type cache first. To have the website automatically show you easy caches, first go to the geocaching.com homepage, and enter your address in the box around the middle. Then, scroll to the bottom of the list and check the box "Highlight beginner caches." Any good starter caches will be highlighted in the list.
  19. Did you just call either me or Ambient Skater an "it?" Edit: Realized you were referring to the website.
  20. If it does not stop running when closed, I wouldn't know. But I have 35$/month unlimited talk, text, and data, so it isn't a worry for me.
  21. I know that you're probably joking, but in case not, those coords were bogus for the sake of the video... Edited to change wording.
  22. I'll make it repeat the coordinates, but I can't slow them down. Edited to fix spelling...
  23. OK, I will remember that. I just did not want to edit my OP and THEN bump, for whatever reason.
  24. Because I wanted to have the video at the top, and editing my post would not bump it.
