  1. I just got a Lowrance Endura Sierra and was told that I could get micro SD cards with topo maps for it. I have only been able to locate Garmin topos, and the microSD fits in the Sierra, it says "loading maps" but they don't show up. The maps that came loaded on the Endura claim to be topo maps, but don't show any contours or land features, even with the contour option selected. Can anyone recommend a website that has the correct microSD cards or maybe a tutorial showing what I am doing wrong/not doing? The pre-loaded map looks like my vehicle GPS maps. Thanks
  2. Wow. Last week I spent 5 days canoeing in the boundary waters. It was awesome...a little overwhelming when I realized I HAD to depend on the GPS to find my way out of the 'big water' into the rivers and to the portages...LOTS of benchmarks, but many not accessible. Anyone else been out there? I found a survey marker at the Beatty Portage, which is on the US/Canada border, but can't seem to find a reference to it. I shall be persistent!
  3. I have just started looking into whether I want to buy a new GPS unit (currently have a Lowrance NAV212) or a GPS for my Palm Tungsten. I have read all about the software for the Palm, but what kind of GPS unit do you recommend for the Palm Tungsten? I have looked into the bluetooth GPS, but it would be rather awkward to try to carry both the PDA and GPS units and keep them facing each other....
  4. Another oddity for benchmarks: There is a mark on the top of the water tank that serves the Grand Hotel on Mackinac Island, MI. Obviously, I could not photograph it--I could not even get close to the tower. If you are not a registered guest, you pay $10.00 just to be on the property, and after 6 pm, only registered guests are allowed on the road that leads to the hotel....so poking around the back of the hotel was a real no-no!
