  1. Unfortunately, it looks like the POC has gone the way of the Dodo bird. Also, I'll be in OC on Saturday, so that is out... Hey now! We resemble that remark! I'll have to do something about that resemblance and come out of extinction. I for one am ready to get sumptin' going on! BTW Shuky the multi in Paso I adopted from you is alive and well. Just checked on it at lunch today at a visitor's pre-visit request. I love that cache! I work in Paso a few days a week now and enjoy the downtown even more because of the history you shared. I really enjoy history of small towns/cities that I live in, so that is why I did it. I really did have fun putting it together. If you want help to put another one together, let me know. I should be here until at least mid-June. BTW, check out the Historical Society in the Carnegie building. It's really cool! I'm trying to maintain the status quo on the caches I have. I have a personal rule - no new caches until the existing are all up and running. BTW, I'm a member of the Historical Society in SLO. I love the archives in the downstairs of the Carnegie. Some of my research comes from there.
  2. Just posted my first post on the POC Blog. That was waaaaay easier than I thought it would be! OMG Google Rocks! So do you Jen! - now I can be a geek too (a high heel geek on weekdays & a hiking boot geek on weekends).
  3. Hit me up on Saturday & I'll join you for a few around A-Town if we're both available. I'll be out & about but we'll be able to coordinate something, I'm sure. Anybody else up for some group caching? We could hit some of the new ones in SLO or Morro Bay or whatever.
  4. Unfortunately, it looks like the POC has gone the way of the Dodo bird. Also, I'll be in OC on Saturday, so that is out... Those guys have a way of rising again. Now that's what I like! Faith. BBBee & I are getting together Fri-nite. Something interesting will come our putting our heads together - other than a few caches being revealed by our skill and cunning (stop ur laughing Gylfie!).
  5. Booboo- Great recitation on the POC webpage & blog. You're such a geek! And I mean that with the utmost respect! See you Friday..... L'Oreo

  7. I use CacheBerry and enjoy it as well. I'm sure looking forward to Verizon opening up their lockdown on third-party apps utilizing their GPS capabilities. So far I've only heard mention of Omnia opening up and the new Tour write-upsthat say: "[on Verizon] ...the GPS is unlocked so third party GPS applications should work fine on the Tour."
  8. It's been a while since we all got together - so a few weeks ago I set up an event for this Friday the 31st. Bonfire Event in Avila Beach
  9. Welcome ackamp to this great sport. The forums are an awesome place to learn, laugh and stay in touch.
  10. There's been a Meet & Greet Event scheduled for January 13th at 7pm in Arroyo Grande by Foomanjoo & F22. Central Coast Pizza Avalanche. Hope to see you there.
  11. I've volunteered to take three down here. I believe OP has volunteered to pick one up, haven't you OP? Anyone else up for adopting a local cache? I adopted three: Celtic Hills - which Steve had adopted from Snow White and Two Random Dwarves; Nipomo History Lesson and the GPSr Accuracy Check Station. I need to do some maintenance on them it appears and will attempt to do so this weekend. I tried to see which caches were left to adopt, but was unable to run a check.
  12. Steve was an awesome friend to geocaching. He and his computer knowledge will be sorely missed. He taught me a lot about code writing, answered all of my questions and pointed me in the right direction when he didnt know the answer. I believe this logo and the first POC website were started by him. He encouraged locals to use the logo to give our area's caches distinction. It's worked. Sorry John for your loss.
  13. Well let's throw out a date. SLMSLO you go first with all the dates you are available in the next four weeks, say.
  14. That definately sounds like fun to me. I am, I've decided, a terrible hunter of caches. Maybe we can encourage one another not to give up in four minutes, eh, Jen?
  15. We'll be there - what time? Also, Alan - can you send us the link to the PGE site. Hey Jen, wahappens if you hit the RSS at the bottom of this pg? Too much info? Its a thought. L
  16. Yeah, I need to do sumpthin 'about that cache, don't I! Maybe I'll go w/ in Nov.
  17. Hey there sweetie! Glad you're back! We sure enjoyed your blog. I'm green with envy at your being able to take such a long extended trip. I waannnna gooo! I just chatted with Jim last Monday and he was headed to Big Sur this weekend and next. He'll probably chat with you early next week. Well, back to work for me. Take care - Hope to see you soon. OP
  18. We're back.... Right? Seems like GCing on the Central Coast dropped off again. But for a trickle of travelers through, we don't have too many new cachers in our area. Economy? Fuel prices? Humph! I think folks need a creative and fun outlet in times of media frenzy. Join me and let's get the word out about geocaching on the Central Coast. I'm on the OSHER schedule to give a talk and lead a hike at Cal Poly on the 18th to the members of OSHER. And I'm going to reserve a conference room at the atascadero library for the 25th of Oct. for a meet n greet. Anyone care to join me at either, pm me.
  19. It sure was a beautiful weekend, A. I'm glad you got your primo spot. Wish the kids and I could have come out - Hubby was on a "Labor Day" painting frenzy (before the rains come don't you know). Great weather to be outside & we got a lot done. I even hiked Pine Mtn. early Sunday morning just to get in some lung exercise. I've reserved the Atascadero Library conference room for Saturday Sept. 13 from 11:00 a.m. to 5:00 (or is it 6:00?) Anyway, I'm going to write a note of invitation to all the local frequent flyers - we've got a lot of new cachers in the area it seems. Hope to see you there. OP
  20. Thanks for the invite! We'll bring the get-together up at the next POC gathering. OP of the POC
  21. I'm game. PM sent. Does this mean I need to make special effort to find it? I normaly don't load multi or puzzle caches while travelling. Yep. And on your way from Nipomo to Paso, stop by Avila Bay Estates and do the Innocent Avila multi I've got. OP
  22. July 24th is the date I reserved for a meeting of POCers at the Polin Martin Room at the Atascadero Library. ["Poison Oak Cachers" our tongue-in-cheek, loosely held together group of San Luis Obispo and Santa Barbara County Cachers]. I'm going to list it on an events page in the local papers so who knows who is going to show up. The more the merrier.
  23. [see what I mean Moosemob] Saturday there's a hike I found on the Sierra Club website. Looks a little too much for me - haven't been out for a while, but I thought I'd throw it out there. Sierra Club has a number of interesting hikes I'd like to join - I'll post them soon. Meanwhile here's a link to our Poison Oak Calendar of Events and the Santa Lucia Chapter of the Sierra Club.
