  1. You will be limited to only about 25 milliwatts.a few hundred feet.FM.and only on a "empty"frequency. No CB,of FRS.you would block legal transmissions on these channels if you did. Many real estate agencies use "micro-watt"FM transmitters to advertise home sale descriptions when you pull up in front of the house. These transmitters are legal to use if you stay within the FCC rules for use.I have a low power FM transmitter that I use to "broadcast"my serious radio player over my property so I can use any old FM radio to listen in my barns and such.Just read the FCC rules and build it,and broadcast from your home.Short distance.Hobbytron sells nice low power AM and FM transmitters that would work fine.
  2. there is also a free one called blackstar for the blackberry
  3. Is your unit upgraded to the latest firmware? Also when I load pocket querries to my unit some of them wind up in my waypoints catagory. These have wound up being parking places.I dont know how the unit knows that but it does.
  4. I dont have the same unit as you,I have the Out&Back, and I use my mp3 players usb cord.Just check which size the unit uses and you can pick them up at discount stores a lot cheaper.Your unit appears to use a serial cable,so no usb.You can still buy those cheaper an electronics store. You can also just load them on an sd card on your pc and pop it in your gps..no data cable needed.Card can be no bigger that 512 mb.
  5. Go to geocaching.com main page and select "trackable items" and read the directions.
  6. I just got a new one and it was already updated.works great. After you get the unit, power it up and hold down the menu button for a few seconds and it will tell you the firmware version that it is running.
  7. I found this post today. July 9, 2009 by jbierfeldt (7 found) Wow! Great hiding spot! Took nothing, Left Burgerking Receipt and 16 cents in change. Team K.A.S - Killer Awesome Squirrls View This Log
  8. And that's perfectly OK. Everyone is entitled to their own opinion. Heck, there are still folks out there that insist black & grey film cans make good caches. Go figure. Not from my perspective. Total # of PVC pipe caches I've found = between 30 & 40. Total # of PVC pipe caches I've found with dry contents = 1 Based upon my experience, I would say "No". See above for my personal statistics. I think the biggest problem with that type of fitting is that there is no gasket. The fitting relies on plastic threads to repel water. If the fitting is loose enough to allow removal by the next cacher who finds it, it is loose enough to allow moisture in. If you tighten it enough to keep water out, it'll require a sturdy wrench to open it. I should note that, of the 30 to 40 PVC pipe caches I've found, only two included a wrench. Both of those were moist inside. I'm thinking that mailboxes keep stuff dry only because the contents are of the short term variety. If the mail stayed in them for several years, like a logbook can do in a cache, the letters would absorb enough moisture from the atmosphere to turn them soggy. As for tackle boxes, it seems that most folks around here have realized that they make terrible containers, as I've only found 3 of them. All 3 had standing water in them. True..Not the best examples I could have used, but I think air or water tight has its own problems with condensation.I think venting on the bottom could help a lot.Maybe an experiment?
  9. Take out the sd card and plug in the unit into your pc.Drag and drop,or copy and paste the map files into the endura root directory.that works for me.remember to select the map you want to view on the menu.base map, imagry, hybrid ect.let me know how that works. Did you "unzip"the maps?
  10. I really hate hearing about those.Looks bad for the game.Makes me wonder if permission was given to place it there. Its so important to get permission and follow guidelnes.
  11. I have the same unit but have not had that issue.Have you updated the unit?
  12. Map Select map prices have been lowered from 5 bucks a map to 99 cents.Much better deal.
  13. I havnt heard anything new. But,the mapselect maps price has been lowered to 99 cents!
  14. Sometimes I think too much emphasis is place on making the container "air tight" or "water tight".This can cause the humidity inside the container to condense,"sweat".Sometimes its better to let it breathe,or vent.Drill a small hole in the bottom of the screw on cap that you have on the bottom of the tube.Rain should stay out but the tube will be able to breathe, keeping the contents dry.Might be worth a try.Mailboxes are not water tight but the contents stay nice and dry, same with tackle boxes. This is not for all situations, but it may work for yours. I only posted this again because it got buried in an arguement. I think it would be informative to do an experiment to see what works and what doesnt.Vented versus non-vented.Rubber plug thing versus threaded.

  16. I was a bit surprised at what my kids found interesting enough to trade for. Before going out i informed them about trading and that they need to trade up of at least equal. They filled a small bag with some pretty nice goodies. The cache we found had an old, kinda dirty weeble wobble toy in it,my daughter just had to have it.My other daughter wanted an old skeleton key,she thinks its real cool.I thought both were just junk.So I feel that the kids really decide what is garbage and what is cool.I do think that broken toys are better left in the trash.I think Mctoys are fine as long as they are not broken, little kids like them.People just need to practice trading up or equal, and teach their kids to do the same.
  17. Check out the Lowrance Out&Back. All the features you need and a great price.
  18. I would like to see a pic of your mount.I am disabled and walk with a cane,I thaught a hicking stick would serve me better in the outdoors.Sounds like it would be the ticket for me.You have a great idea there for the disabled.
  19. and try not to let it spoil the game for you and your family.
  20. Thanx.I dont know why I couldnt find that before
  21. I have always found being polite and courteous to work best. When they ask for something I give it to them,no questions asked.I have nothing to hide. They usually ask for ID to check for wants and warrants. It makes their job easier and my day better.Refusing to give ID just raises their suspicions and puts them in a mood that I dont feel like dealing with.Plus around here its the law. They ask,you give.
  22. Any way you could post or e-mail me a screenshot?
  23. About the tracking thing..Will it leave the last coordinates should the cell phone become inoperable?
