  1. Wait, you're saying that you're actually supposed to go outside and find these things? Isn't the whole game hunting down the URL's of the cache pages?
  2. Right - I would just contact the local reviewer with the coordinates and ask if they were acceptable as per the saturation rule. I was just unaware that reviewer contact was available outside the scope of an official submission. If the coordinates are acceptable, I would setup the physical cache and go through the official submission process.
  3. Thanks for starting this thread, as it's shown me a very useful useful tidbit of information - That you can submit coordinates for approval without having to actually set up the physical cache. I plan on setting up my first cache soon, and even though I'm a PM, I am worried that my site location would be rejected because it might be too close to an unmapped Multi or Mystery cache. Seeing as though my proposed cache is heavy and complex, it's probably going to take several hours to transport and setup. It would be a disaster if I found out after-the-fact that it wasn't in compliance and that I would have move it somewhere else.
  4. Funny that I caught this thread, because the other day I hid my very first geocache! Here's a picture of the area where I've hidden it. So.. am I doin' it rite? Now I'm not going to point out exactly where it is in the picture, but I assure you that I didn't use any pointed tools at all to hide my cache. However, while I was there, I did see a bunch of guys all decked out in green who were using pointed tools to hide their circular green Lock&Lock caches! Shame on them! I yelled sternly over to them that they need to refresh their knowledge of the geocaching rules, especially the saturation rule where caches have to be placed 160m apart from one another (another rule they seemed to be "conveniently" forgetting about..)
  5. I actually found out about geocaching through a headline on FARK.com (a humorous user-submitted news aggregate site). The user-submitted headline said, "Newest fun activity that could kill you (*throws dart at list of hobbies*): geocaching", and the article itself was about police fears that people could get suckered into opening bombs or anthrax, or you could be busted for trespassing when searching for an illegally-placed cache. The FARK article generated 150+ comments, some from geocachers themselves, so I decided to download a free geocaching app for my Droid phone and give it a shot!
