  1. The fire is contained, and many of the trails have been reopened, although I'm not sure the Belfast is one of them. The fire started in the Marbleyard, and I hope it didn't take out a cache with it! If you are close by, check in with the ranger station on 130 for a more accurate list!
  2. The fire in the James River Face Wilderness has grown to about 1,100 acres and is showing no signs of stopping soon. If it burns to the edge of the containment area, it should burn closer to 2,000.
  3. The Beale treasure is one of those local legends that doesn't make too much sense to me, but is widely believed. If you search for it, WATCH YOUR STEP! You may find yourself staring down the barrel of a shotgun, as the landowners are getting sick of "treasure-hunters" tromping through their fields/woods. But good luck anyway!
  4. Visited the JRFW today as part of work. Foresters took myself and cameraman out to one of the backfires. The whole park is indeed closed, and will be for at the very least a week or two. Right now, the fire is about 500 acres and growing fast... You can check out pics of my experience on the backburn at... http://www.geocaching.com/seek/cache_details.asp?ID=18647
  5. The Christmas Tree Cache is on a small island on Smith Mountain Lake in Southwest Virginia. The lake is beautiful this time of year, although still a little cold! http://www.geocaching.com/seek/cache_details.asp?ID=14929
  6. Christmas Tree Cache (1 Find). Placed this one this winter... Most of the caches around here have about 10 finds in 2 weeks, but this one seems difficult enough. Too far for a canoe, but just right for a nice day on the water in a BOAT!
  7. I am desperately trying not to be a celebrity... Unfortunately, work keeps making me do studio, microwave, and satellite live shots...
  8. The general consensus of something like this is to contact the cache owner and get permission. However, if you are replacing with the -EXACT- same type of cache, it shouldn't be too much of a problem... Most cache owners are gracious when someones helps them out!
