  1. There is always the 12 days of Christmas or cache-mas (too bas that's already been done).
  2. Looked mine over during Heather's cheer practice...BEAUTIFUL book...CONGRATS!
  3. Next year, we could have a multi event at 08:09:10 on 11-12-13! This looks like a winner for next year! The following year, 12-13-14! wow a 13th month ?! Us Americans write our dates like this...month, day, year.
  4. I thought that events could only be published 3 months in advance?? If an event expects to attract out of town visitors, it can be published up to 6 months in advance in order to allow extra time to book lodgings. Since I had people drive up to 4 hours for the 11-11-11 event I asked for the advance publication this time. Of course, it is up to the reviewer to make the call. I haven't even considered where I am having our event yet!
  5. I am so sorry to hear this news. Prayers to his family.
  6. I know this is a random fact, but I had to share... December 12, 2012 is 6 years, 6 months, 6 days from June 6, 2006, or 6/6/6
  7. I still collect...but am VERY selective about what I collect now...opposed to back in the day when I bought anything and everything, either because I liked it or hoped I could trade it for something better. When I lost some interest was when folks started make 20 different versions of the same design. I miss the old days in the forums when there were lots of design discussions...lots of trading...lots of personal coins (non-trackable or trackable...it did not matter)...back when geocoins were more of a personal momento or a souvenir from an event....when there was chatter about mystery coins being found in caches instead of mailboxes...back when I had more disposable income (LOL). Over time, I have most enjoyed the people that geocoins have brought into my life, rather than the actual coins themselves, and the memories. I imagine myself sitting in a rocking chair telling my grandchildren about the time I hiked 20 miles, uphill both ways to find a cache with a particular geocoin...LOL.
  8. Count us in for SWPA (aka Pittsburgh). In regards to it being in the middle of the week...I don't think it will matter. The 999 event was on a Wednesday night, and we had 150ish folks show up.
  9. There have been MANY dates that are supposed to mark the the end of the world. I don't really see the significance of this one more than any of the others (except that it is probably a good excuse for an event, esp. since it is on a Friday - a little too close to Christmas for my taste, though). I am more interested in the 12/12/12 (esp since we have hosted one of those events since 8/8/8), and would be very disappointed to see 12/12/12 merged with 12/21/12 on one coin. None of the other event coins (8/8/8, 9/9/9, 10/10/10, 11/11/11) shared a design with another event on a different day. I see the 12/12/12 event as a culmination of a series of events that the end of the world date/event has nothing to do with, except that they share the same digits. I might be in the minority, but that is my opinion.
  10. I guess I got the first No L...LOL

It is still pretty early in the Christmas card season...but I have received a few. So, When I grabbed today's mail, and there was a card-sized envelope with the catalogs and bills, I thought someone must be more on the ball than I. Then I looked to see who sent it and was surprised to see that I did. Hmmm...wonder what it could be. Looks like a holiday mystery to me! Edit to add...THANK-YOU to the mystery sender!
  12. Reminds me of my geotechnology class...except we sliced our rocks a lot thinner Cannot wait to get mine in the mail!
  13. I use mine to make buttons for most of my events and give them away to my attendees since they are so inexpensive to make.
  14. I agree. I have my own badge-a-minit system, so I would probably opt to make my own if I wanted a trackable button.
  15. I tried to order, but I can't find the link to order. Am I missing something on that page? They look really great and I like to buy one. I couldn't find it either So I sent an e-mail to LadyBugKids. Hopefully they will post here. Ditto (but w/o the email) The links are usually the text that say: Inside the United States Outside the United States ....?? They are stunning as Drneal indicated. We were able to snag them at GCF SC. Nothing comes up when I hover over those...

  17. Welcome to my world! Each time, I try to find a bigger venue, and each time I am seriously pushing its limits. From what I am told, our event went well. Brian, Heather and TMOCM hosted it for me, while I worked at the drama booster's table at Brenda's high school production of James and the Giant Peach (she was the silkworm). Our coins sold out at the event and I was told there were over 125 folks there.
  18. I like the design...but we are not hosting 2/29 event. Someone else is from our area.
  19. I don't think that matters, as long as you know what the different activation code is. Once the coin is activated, the activation code will never be used again.
  20. We've minted 2 personals - trackable and non-trackable...and many of those "other" items. I prefer the non-trackable coins...the trackables seem too commercial to me, and hold less meaning (except for the milestone and event coins). I do not think a coin needs all the bells and whistles to be a good design. My favorite coins are the ones that hold a special meaning to me because of the memories associated with getting them...and most of those are simple designs and non-trackable. Brenda has a chibi dragon (her caching name) design in mind, and we may follow thru with it, but that is the only coin we have considered minting recently. In regards to trading for personals...I've traded with many folks that I do not personally know, and will continue to do so. My prefered method of trading, though, is face-to-face.
  21. Me too. I got so excited I almost wrote count me in for 2/29, 12-12-12 and 13-13-13!!! I spoke to Bryan today about the 2/29 and Groundspeak are looking into ways to get the word out. I came up with: "Leap into Caching" "365 366 Caching" or "366 Days of Caching" How about "intercalary leap event" or "intercalary leap challenge" or "leap to the challenge" or "leap challenge" or "366 leap" or "366 intercalary challenge"- just some versions trying to get in the idea that the calendar "challenge" is probably involved. We called our last one a "Quadrennial Celebration"
  22. I thought this thread was about 2/29...not 12/12/12
