    Nearest TB

You don't even need to use Watcher... Using a pocket query you can select just caches that have TB's in them. The TB info doesn't show up in the GPX files (A gripe of mine...) but at leat you can tell what caches to look at for bugs. I myself get a daily GPX with all the TB's in a 200 mile radius just to watch them move around... ---------------------------------- ---------------------------------- "The number you have reached is imaginary, please rotate your phone 90 degrees and try again... <beeeeep>"

  3. My guess, based on what you've said is that he was doing something with a slurper... A Bot that, when fed a URL, follows all the URLS on that given page down to a certain depth... Say something like this... Set the recursion level to 3... 1. Starts with "Closest Caches Page" 2. Loads all the cache pages on that page 3. Follows all the links on the cache pages.... Which, if you happen to be the cache owner, includes ALL of the "DELETE THIS LOG", "Disable this Cache", etc, etc...... 4. Two things: 1.) Check out the discussion that was Here What you want can be accomplished thru the website (for Premium members like you guys) 2.) No, the biggest problem with software harvesters is that they a) Put a big drain on the website resources Can often lead to your IP address and/or account being banned. If you want GPX, use a Pocket Query. It's already configured, and all you have to do is check the "Not found" box under the types of caches you want.... ---------------------------------- ---------------------------------- "The number you have reached is imaginary, please rotate your phone 90 degrees and try again... <beeeeep>"
  5. quote:Originally posted by bthomas:Grab and re-drop. I'll occasionally do it for cute or famous bugs. The website tallies finds not moves (travelling), so I don't find it too unacceptable; some owners do. Grab and re-drop happens at geo-events, too; I personally do not grab all 10 at an event, just a couple. I'd also like to point out that a "Post a Note" log accomplishes the same thing. As bthomas correctly points out, thew website tallies bugs 'found'. Since you need the tracking number to 'Post a Note' it IS counted as a FIND. Presumably, the logic being you have to have found the bug in order to get the number.... Also note, as hard as you try and as many different Have it/Note/etc time you log on the same TB, the website still only will count is as 1 bug found in your count..... ---------------------------------- ---------------------------------- "The number you have reached is imaginary, please rotate your phone 90 degrees and try again... <beeeeep>"
  6. What about Multi caches? As a test I went to rate the multi I have out, but the terrain and container descriptions for the different stages of the multi are quite different.... ---------------------------------- ---------------------------------- "The number you have reached is imaginary, please rotate your phone 90 degrees and try again... <beeeeep>"
  7. It certainly seems like geocaching is getting alot of press in Minnesota all the sudden. A number of MNGCA members have been contacted by a reporter from the Rochester, MN (Home of the Mayo Clinic) area who is researching for a story.... I'd actually be tempted to leave the cache alone... Yes, there might be a few geomuggles tempted to find it, but who's to say that isn't the first step into transforming them into GeoCachers? ---------------------------------- ---------------------------------- "The number you have reached is imaginary, please rotate your phone 90 degrees and try again... <beeeeep>"

The easiest way to completely filter out caches that you have already found is to use a Pocket Query (since you've already done the "Charter Member" part). You can then either use an eBook reader for the PC to look at the file or use one of the GPX utilities that everyone seem to be be talking about. (That part I don't know much about, since I use my Palm IIIxe & EasyGPS)

  10. I'm still trying to dig up the original log, but the farthest off I've heard of is a find when the coordinates were off over 2 miles According to this thread... <Edit> Found it!Buttermilk Cache (GC42C) ---------------------------------- ---------------------------------- "The number you have reached is imaginary, please rotate your phone 90 degrees and try again... <beeeeep>"
  11. I think that there's going to have to be a little give on both sides.... The Bomb Squad is going to have to get used to even more false alarms than usual. Recently we almost had the same thing happen Here as happened to Caching Toddler, Hidden Tupperware. Even though the cache container was marked, when the container was hidden, the markings weren't visible. Somebody found it and called the cops. The problem is that Bin's Boys have widened that fuzzy gray area of doubt in people's minds. So, in that regard, I agree with Team 360. I sure as H@#$ am not going to let them win. Our wedding anniversary is 9/11/93. This year we are going to be celebrating our 10th wedding anniversary, not the anniversary of a terrorist victory (which is what it would be if we were) We have 364 other days for remembering those who have died, and I sure as H@#$ am not going to forget them, but I'm not going to crawl into a hole and let Bin win. I am going to continue my life, same as before. I am going to be happy on 9/11. I will continue to geocache. ---------------------------------- ---------------------------------- "The number you have reached is imaginary, please rotate your phone 90 degrees and try again... <beeeeep>"
  12. Well, here's my thought.... I wanted to stock a new cache I was putting out with useful things. I had acquired a number of "pocket multi tools" (some pliers style, some 'traditional'). Since they were all in their original packaging, which is MORE than child proof (where's a chainsaw when you need one [] ), I wasn't to concerned about putting them in there. The only drawback was that they took up quite a bit of space in the ammo box.

quote:Originally posted by RichardMoore:Sorry, guys. If you don't move it you shouldn't log it. I can understand posting a note to the travel bug's page, but just seeing it doesn't count as a 'find' for travel bugs. Actually, posting a note to a bug's page DOES include the bug in your 'find' count and TB's found list. I suppose the point being assumed that you supposedly have to have found the bug physically to get the tracking number. So if you want to 'count coup' on a bug, it IS better to just post a note, because that leaves the bug where it is and accomplishes what you want. ---------------------------------- ---------------------------------- "The number you have reached is imaginary, please rotate your phone 90 degrees and try again... <beeeeep>"
  14. You can set up a pocket query to get the specific cache list you want. If you don't use a PDA, you can either use the eBook viewer for the Wintel PC (available at the www.mobipocket.com website) or you could use one of the many apps that can handle the .loc or .gpx files.... Since I use my Palm, I'm not so familiar with those tools, but I know they exist... Perhaps someone else could post a list for you (or check the 'links' page) ---------------------------------- ---------------------------------- "The number you have reached is imaginary, please rotate your phone 90 degrees and try again... <beeeeep>"

  20. I was just quickly going off what's on the screen captures... TJ-Tigger: You could generate the list of missing logs using Dan's Stats Page (like welch mentioned before) Right now it looks like either the TPTB or somebody with access to your account.... Did you login from somewhere public recently? 21. Hey Welch.. It looks like watchtower (revisited) is one of the posts that dissapeared. That's one of your caches. Any ideas of what's going on?
  22. TPTB: The Powers That Be... aka site admins From your screen capture and a little poking around, it doesn't look like the caches in question were all owned by the same person... You didn't happen to annoy several cache owners recently?
