  1. Vielen Dank für die Beratung. In English:
  2. The only real issue I have seen is that YOU must take the original coordinates.
  3. No one but the reviewers can view your listing until it is published.
  4. Yes they are saying just that; it's in the rules. ...also Geoaware (representing the GSA) and other companies must make protective statements or the courts will consider their claim to the icons as not strictly prohibitive and thus the owners lose the strength of their claim over their intellectual properties...so expect this type of response from most any business entity which has a logo. Trust me if you try selling hundreds of Ground Speak's logos on t shirts you will get a kind letter from their lawyers...that GS allows us to have limited use of their logo is very generous on their part.
  5. To clarify...we do not get to vote on a design.
  6. I would think not....unless there is a clear and good reason geologically speaking as to why the survey took place. If the survey took place for the purpose of measuring a unique geological formation, then if you explained the formation and it was significant enough then I could see it having a chance.
  7. Great advise. I'm guilty of too many words most all the time. My son was recently assigned a 300 page book to read. After the reading his assignment is to tell the story in 4 sentences. Therein lies a real challenge.
  8. Right there with ya. The folks who need to pick one will have a hard time. There have been some great designs so far! I'd be proud to attach several of these to my cache pages.
  9. Great designs...but I think using the word EVOLUTION is a bit too charged. EarthCaches don't promote evolution.
  10. Great start MJSDB. It's a bit big but otherwise I love it. I hope some other folks try their hand as well...
  11. While there is no official minimum distance for an EC to be from a traditional, the EarthCache folks will not allow an EC and a traditional cache to share the same coords. To be safe I'd recommend offsetting the coords by at least 50 feet. If the feature is pronounced enough that should not be a problem.
  12. Keep deleting his finds and if he escalates turn him into Groundspeak. They will provide him a nice vacation from the game if need be.
  13. Thanks for being open minded Gary. I'm decent at these things but by no means an artist so I will leave it up to those with real skill. I look forward to seeing what we as a community can come up with. -LB7
  14. It’s been pretty quiet in here since you posted the image...OK I’ll go first. I don’t like it. While I am not a graphic artist, I do know a pleasing image when I see it and this one falls short. The blurred image is very distracting and I don’t even know what is in the second tile. Also the size is way too big (yes I know that some of us know how to reduce it but many do not). Have you considered letting the forum take a stab at this...perhaps offer up a coin for the winning design which includes the elements you specify? Also I’m not sure what Groundspeak’s take is on the banner including "SUBARU"...I applaud their support and would like to give them the proper recognition...I just want to be sure that it is OK with Groundspeak. Again I don’t mean to be overly critical, I just want us to put our best image forward.
  15. That would be nice...I see a lot of ECs which have a HUGE (ugly) "EarthCaches Rock" banner. Something a bit smaller would be great for those folks who need to print these out.
  16. Sure they do....in certain situations...how bout this: Photograph a fossil impression; include your GPS for the purposes of scale determination.
  17. Are you waiting for them to say "I accept your answers, go ahead and log it"? Don't bother waiting unless the cache owner is overly sensitive and has posted specifically that you must wait (which is really not up to him to decide to make you wait to log BTW). Log your find and send the answers / photo and if there is a problem the Cache Owner will let you know.
  18. It is ok to delete a log when the finder does not meet the logging requirements (provided the logging requirements are valid). That said, I have had on several occasions gotten answers for someone elses EarthCache mailed to me by mistake; I direct the finder to email the correct person...perhaps this happened? In the end though if they totally missed the point and lesson you put forth then they failed to meet the most basic requirements of an EarthCache find. I have deleted several logs for many reasons...normally though if a reasonable attempt is made the log will stand. I find very often that folks are just plain lazy...and being lazy on the logging requirements show that they likely did not bother reading the information you put fourth and that they came to the site for the sole purpose of a smiley....well ECs are not the place to look for an easy smile on your stats page.
  19. It's usually as easy as this to provide proof you were there...most folks in these parts know me by the yellow hat.
  20. A good rule of thumb would be to separate the two enough so that the icons don't "Stack" on the map.
  21. WOW...I had no idea how much this was costing (not to mention the volunteer time). Thanks for all the hard work you and your helpers have put into this project...It is sad to see the pins fade but the adventure remains in their wake.
  22. Getting wind powered features published is tricky...it is possible but normally you will need to base the listing on the geology and then "casually mention" that there are some wind turbines here too....
  23. ECs may be within mere feet of each other provided they explore distinctly different topics...
