  1. Supposed to be fixed with the 3.52 update. See the 3.52 beta thread in this section.
  2. Hopefully those same Gremlins don't make it into your GPS Anyway, to the OP thanks for the heads up. I just DL'd the 3.51 the other day. Time for another upgrade.
  3. just ordered 3 Ugly coins, and added an extra white Carousel Lion for the heck of it.
  4. What I read in this thread has to do with people worried about the Mystery Coin givers stopping the mystery giving because of someone else that just wants to make money. For example, the current coin on ebay is from an active Ebayer. Obviously they are in it for the money. No matter how they got the coin, it IS for sale. Acceptable or not from the maker/givers point of view, it is still for sale. And, I'm just using this one for the example, because it is the topic of this thread. Now going on, as far as "tradition" with MC's, it may(or may not) wreck the MC giving from any of the "givers", or even 1 of them. Which, I see it as the topic of the drama about selling MC's. Wrong? Now, if I ever got 1, I wouldn't sell it. Heck, I won 2 so far from cointests, and wouldn't get rid of them, as someone was generous enough to gift it to me for very little reason. Neither of the 2 may be the favorites of my small collection, but they won't leave my collection either.
  5. I assume you mean Rino530HCx. No, you cannot get "hints" or any other paperless features on it. If you want to load more caches than 1 at a time, use pocket queries. I was loading 500 at a time on mine. Have since gone to a Oregon450 for caching because of the paperless, and Birdseye imagery.
  6. If your worried about being "unfair" to your daughter, yes I can understand, buy another tag for the time being. Travel bugs, should be LONG lost before being re-released.
  7. Looking at LadyBear's profile, it looks as if the icons are up and working. May have to activate one of mine now.
  8. I've got a Lil' Buck, to trade for a Lil Hiccup, or Aussie Fire. I just got mine from whomever I bought them from. SO NICE!! No activation code included, but I'd have thought they'd be on coincodes...... Haven't looked for them, as I'm starting to learn to only activate a select few.
  9. Maybe the Rino 530 HCx has comparable sensitivity, but my regular 530 does not have the fancy chipset. After some reading and the recommendations here, I've ordered one. Here's to many more geocaches in the future! I was going to chime in about the Rino530HCx, as I have one. Good GPS, I never had any accuracy problems with it. I've used it very little since I bought my Oregon450 about a month ago though. Will be using it more for camping now as my Bro-in-law has one, and my children can use my motorola's for communication.
  10. Hey, thanks. That is exactly the answer I was looking for. Now to wait it out, for the "server issues" to get back to where it was(size wise, that is).
  11. Hey, thanks for the tip. I just went that route, and set up 4 to DL at this time. I hadn't even thought of doing that. I sent an email to Garmin Support asking about this problem, as I find it absurd that I can't DL sizes past 106mb because when I started I could do around 400mb. The 400mb would take around 8 hours to do, but I found that convenient. IE: less maps to name, larger sections, etc.. Now with the tip of adding some to a queue, I guess I can still DL a couple hours worth, but...... However, I'd still like someone else to confirm the size limitation of 106mb on High resolution, to compare notes.
  12. I guess I can understand that, but like I stated, I liked being able to leave my computer work while I was away. Kinda think that's a bummer if that's the case. Can you verify that 106mb is max? My current download on high limited me to 106. 107 was too much. Now, if you changed resolution to Very High, the map area would be REALLY small. Not that I wanted anything other than Mid resolution myself.........
  13. Alright, I've been downloading Birdseye to my SDcard pretty constant since I've signed up for it. As of the last couple, I can only get approx 106MB/5300 images before it states that the limit is exceeded. Where as in the past I've gone up to 400MB and 13000 images on one map. My resolution setting has always been High, not Low or Very high. What do I need to do to get back to downloading larger areas again? Could it be that the latest Basecamp update changed this? Although, since the update, I think I had a download at near 400mb/13000+ images. Or maybe I need to clear my list of already made maps to do larger areas again? Of course, then I wouldn't know where my areas were, and my be downloading the same images again............ The smaller downloads are obviously quicker time wise, but I like to let my computer work for me while I'm sleeping or working, as the download times are around 8 hours that way. Any help please?
  14. Thank you Chiroptera. I got my Creatures of Nightcaching Bat today. Very nice coin and, once again, very generous of you to send it to me. Now, to decide, what i'm going to do with it. Send it traveling, activate it for my collection, or not activate it...........
  15. I got mine from buydig.com . Shipped quick without paying for upgraded shipping. Was one of the better prices at the time. Note: rebate does NOT apply to Amazon purchases!! I havent used the free maps as I have access to Topo2008.
  16. Just in case you didn't know, you can get more detailed maps for free at http://gpsfiledepot.com. That was the site I was thinking of. Thanx for the tip though. As through my researching and browsing, I saw a post pointing to that site. So maybe your post will benefit yet another.
  17. I wouldn't see why, you already have the icon if that's what your after. Of course, if the software allowed it, it's your coin, do it if you feel like it. It might not even let you, but I haven't tried it.
  18. The 450 is a nice unit. Can get maps for it off the internet. I haven't, as I have access to Topo2008. Also, check Garmin's site as there is a mail in rebate of $50 on it, not the 400. Rebate is for Oregon 450, 450t, 550, 550t, and Dakota 10 and 20. I don't know if you factored that into your pricing or not, but it's worth the mention. Amazon is NOT included in the rebate though. Can get similar/better pricing at other suppliers.
  19. Kinda odd that it was logged as being in the cache unlogged by a FTF... Cool to see your coin is traveling again.
  20. Didn't know that. Thanx for the tip. Still learning, my Oregon is only a couple weeks old.
  21. I just learned that with my Oregon 450 yesterday. SO nice. Had put in 2 fieldnotes so I remembered where I dropped off travelers. Helps with logging all the found caches also.
  22. That is what I mean. The whitening of the images. My home area is dark all the way zoomed in to around 80 feet. The other maps have significant whitening to them below a certain zoom level. It appears dark at 1.2 mile zoom like my home base area map. It whitens at .8 mile zoom, unlike my home base map that stays dark. Can still see and make out the images, just harder.
  23. I've searched all over, but haven't found my answer. The first Birdseye I downloaded of my home area, no washout problems, loaded on the internal memory of my Oregon 450. The next 3 were to my SD card. All washed out below a certain zoom level. OK, so tried my 5th map to the internal memory once again, and same thing. Does anyone know why? Every map has been on "high", the middle resolution level for space constraints and download times. I can still decipher the images, but the images around my home area are SO much better.
  24. My wife and I got lost in the woods on our ATV's once. Ended that problem the next day with a Magellan Meridian Gold. Decided to upgrade that to a Meridian Color a couple years later so it was easier to differentiate the markings on the loaded Topo maps. Used that for ATVing, marking off-road trails for the truck, geocaching with family(before I had an account) while camping, etc. Still have the Meridian Color. Probably let my 3 and 5 year old daughters use it till it's demise. Have a Nuvi660 for the automotive nav. Christmas present from my wife and daughters this last, was a Garmin Rino530HCx that I wanted. Love it. Last couple days, because I like "cool stuff" I got an Oregon450 for paperless caching because I started running 500 POI cache pocket queries. Was walking around in the woods with the Rino and my Blackberry looking up cache pages for cache size, description, hints, last found logs, etc. Figured there "had to be a better way"....... Actually, as I type, I'm running a Birdseye download to add to the Topo for the Oregon. I wanna see how cool it'd be to have Satellite imagery on my handheld.
