  1. In fact, this seems to be quite a common problem. Many counters (TB3159V for example) show over 500km less than they actually travelled. Groundspeak knows about this general problem (since three years), has heard many complaints, and isn't doing enough about it. A simple operation, like auto-refreshing all mileages in one go, would easily solve the problem - especially if it is noticed so many are awfully out of sync. Still, Groundspeak does nothing noticeable - just like the many bugs in the WAP-Interface that throw critical errors at the users in a constant stream, something well documented since half a year in many forum posts. It's behaviour like that which makes users indifferent to guidelines and turn to software like the "Android-Geocaching-Client-That-Shall-Not-Be-Named", if you know what I mean.
  2. The WAP-Interface is a nice feature, but Groundspeaks apparent indifference to the critical error everyone encounters when trying to drop TB's with a found-log is not a very nice thing. The error is not Browser or OS-dependent, (tried: WinMobile, Android; Opera Mobile, Android Browser, IE mobile, Steel) and occurs every time, is therefore also easy to reproduce. 3. Having lived in China for a very long time, I can assure everyone that at least in the cities, using a GPS is completely legal and very common. It's a different story in the countryside, though. Many local policemen see foreigners for the first time in their life, and usually have no idea what a GPS is. To them, people using weird high-tech doing strange search patterns must seem like E.T. just landed. Also just knowing very rudimentary English, they will likely not try to communicate in a friendly manner, but simply arrest you. If you speak at least some Mandarin - which is easier to learn than it looks - you should be able to resolve the situation quickly, but if you don't, they may fine you. When setting up caches in China, never forget that 1. Cities change very fast, buildings get torn down and rebuild faster than anywhere else in the world. 2. Sounds obvious, but there are LOTS OF PEOPLE on the street, therefore lots of muggles. And many of them are poor, just the raw material value of many geocoins is higher than what they normally earn in a week.
