  1. That update should help you. I have a caching buddy that had the same problem, but after updating to v. 2.90 that stopped, so updating directly to v. 3.00 shold also help you. ProsperoDK/René
  2. Many people here in the forums have talked about City Navigator North America v.8. It supports the auto-routing capabilities of the 60CSx. I live in Denmark so I use City Navigator Europe v.8, I find it of great use especially when there's a parking coordinate on the cache, it then guides me directly to that spot by the roads. If you haven't changed anything else in GSAK or on the GPSr then your geocaching waypoints should all have the closed chest icon on the GPSr. On the GPS click [find]-geocache-[enter] then it should show you the nearest caches to your position, to a maximum of 50 I believe. If you pres [enter] here you could chose "find by name" and then you can search through all the caches by entering the name. On the list of caches you can see the distance and bearing to the selected cache below the list. When you have the one you want to find then press [enter] and then "go to" on the next screen and off you go. One thing to note is that its probably best to set the unit to prompt for off road vs. on road calculation and make sure that "lock on road" is off and that "go to line" is set to bearing, then you should be ready. When driving on the road you select onroad calculation and when you reach the parking space just press [menu] and select recalculate and select off-road calculation and you are ready to follow the arrow to the cache. 3. It's page 53-54 in the printed manual for the 60CSx.
  4. I see you are a premium member, so you should take a look at the pocket queries. Then you get a GPX-file by mail with all the geocaches you want (up to 500) from the search criteria you selected. You can seach from coordinates, states, cache-types , container type, terrain and difficulty and lots more. Then take a look at GSAK (Geocaching Swiss Army Knife) its a database program to manage your caches, in it you can filter for distance, type etc. and then transfer the caches to your GPSr. The newest version does support the news x-series models. There's also a great forum on the GSAK-site if you have any other questions about GSAK. ProsperoDK/René
  5. I kinda already got that, I was just a little confused since "apersson850" said that his "iQue 3000" and "StreetPilot c550" worked as expected, I guess that means without the proximity alert with all POI's. ProsperoDK/René
  6. Is that in any GPX-file? both from PQ and from GSAK? So unless explicitly stated the 60C(S)X asumes there should be a proximity alert. ProsperoDK/René
  7. I was reading through this thread and had the same problem, but in another thread someone gave the link to an older version and now I can return the favour. It's here. It's dated from "23-Jan-2006 10:05" where I found it. ProsperoDK/René
  8. As well as asking for the cache to be published at a specific date or time, you could also preempt this scenario by mailing you reviewer and ask if this particular location is in conflict with the 0.1 mile rule. I know that the reviewer in our neck of the woods, Lewa Nuwa, is very open to questions and requests like this. However for these type of request Lewa Nuwa likes to get the cache submitted well in advance so any questions can be handled in a timely manner. ProsperoDK/René
  9. I see that it's the additional/child waypoints that you are missing. If you use the GPX-file and cachemate on the Palm and the newest GSAK on the PC you can have the additional/child waypoints too. It must be a bug if they are not in the mobipocket file. ProsperoDK/René
  10. This is a strike-through right? ProsperoDK/René
  11. It already is, from your profile page click here: ProsperoDK/René
  12. I have no idea, I use a laptop with WinXP myself. And I pretty much don't use GPSbabel directly, only as it's used behind the scenes in GSAK. No, the geocaching function is dependent on waypoints with the open/closed chest symbol (or whatever other symbols you change it to). I have uploaded custom waypoint symbols on my GPSr that match the waypoint symbols on GC.com so I at a glance can see what type of cache each waypoint is and I like that much better. You can also assign a different symbol to different POI's. When you upload the files to the GPSr via POILoader, say a file called "traditional_caches.csv", then if you put at "16x16, 256 color" BMP-image-file named "traditional_caches.bmp" in the same directory you have the csv-file in, it will be assigned to those POI's. The magenta? color RGB(256,0,256) will be used as transparent if you want to make them yourself. I just had a look to see if I could find the custom icons I used, and luck would have it that another thread in this forum referenced that site I was thinking about. Look at question 9 under "Managing and Using Waypoints" on this page. And read the other stuff too, there's a lot of good hints there. ProsperoDK/René
  13. The 60CSx does have a limit of 1000 waypoints, but it can have as many POI as your memory card can hold and you can navigate to them too. You can load them with Garmin's POILoader, although the latest version 2.3 does have a bug and you should get the previous version here. It loads both CSV and GPX-files. ProsperoDK/René
  14. The Google Toolbar with spell checking in 11 different languages also works for Firefox now. ProsperoDK/René
  15. I just tried searching and downloading on that site. With a good text editor you could quickly do a search replace in the file for the '|' to change it to a ',' or a ';'. And then you could open it in Excel and weed out the columns you don't need and massage the longitude latitude to get it in a format more readily readable. ProsperoDK/René
  16. All your GSAK questions can be answered on the GSAK Forum. At #1 you enter %smart and 14 to get the behaviour you want. At #2 you can take a look at this page to see which special tags you can use to get the information you want. You probably want something like this at #2: %by (%dif/%ter) %last4 %hint And yes, you need to delete your waypoints on the GPSr before uploading. ProsperoDK/René
  17. I don't know about the other points but this one I think I can help with. Under [Menu]-[Menu]-Setup-[Enter]-Map-[Enter]-General (the 1. icon), you probably have autozoom on, try turning it off and see if it doesn't stay at the zoom level you set. ProsperoDK/René
  18. Hi Fabien, I hope all has gone well with the move. I don't think any of us here knew you were hosting your own server and not having it hostet at a webhotel. I'm looking forward to trying the new version 1.5. ProsperoDK/René
  19. You can google GPXsonar and find this mirrorsite, although its only version 1.3 there. The version I have on my PDA is 1.4. I can't access the main site too, but Fabien who makes the program had this thread in the forums where he asked for features people wanted in the program, but the last post in that thread are from jan. 24 2006. ProsperoDK/René
  20. Many thanks. How did you find that url? I can't find a path to it from the "Updates and Downloads" page. Garmin have put the link back yesterday I think. ProsperoDK/René
  21. Ahhhhhhhh.... Duh..... The "invalid" image file on my card IS the maps. Thanks. BTW: You don't have to take your card out to look at it. Hit menu, menu, then select Setup. Select Interface. Select USB Mass Storage. Your card will appear as a drive on your computer. At least when you have the 2.71 beta or 2.90 firmware. Check by selecting [Menu]-[Menu]-Setup-[Enter]-System-[Enter]-[Menu]-Software Version. I asume its the same combination as on the 60SCx. ProsperoDK/René
  22. You're welcome I too like to keep the older software/firmware, especially if there's a need to downgrade. But the 2.60 SW was the first to be available to download separately, at least for a short while. ProsperoDK/René
  23. I opened the GPX-file while in mass storage mode and each track-point is 113 characters long. With a little overhead for the start and end of the file you could say 115 characters per track-point for a short track, and 114 characters per track-point for a longer track. I did the counting in response to another thread also regarding how many track-point you could save on a card for a longer holiday trip. ProsperoDK/René
  24. Yes, I have it on my harddrive and can upload it to my homepage. Grab it here. ProsperoDK/René
