  1. Searching on Google the only three links that i found are to logs by txberrypicker that say they left a geopetroglyph. /René
  2. I've done the same with the display on my GPSr when caught without a flashlight on a FTF hunt. Three new caches had popped up 10-14 km from my home along the coast so after dinner I went after them. The first was found as FTF at 20:37 and in September there's still a little light at that time. The second I went after got a lot more difficult since my GPSr didn't have all the small forest roads so I had to park about 500 m from the suggested parking coordinates because I couldn't find my way to there. I knew I had my flashlight in my bag but couldn't find it so I went ahead anyway with just my GPSr and leaving the bag in the car. There was still a little light to allow me to follow the path in the forest but when I got to the beach it had gotten rather dark and I couldn't find the cache! The time was now 21:10. Having spent ca. 15 minutes searching for the micro I decided to head back to the car and return and give it a try the next day and only had the light on the display of the GPSr turned all the way up and the breadcrumbs from my track to the cache on the map screen to lead me back to the car. That was a special experience walking through the dark forest with so little light. When I got back to the car I did find the flashlight at the bottom of one of the pockets I had searched in my bag so I could go after the third cache which I logged at 21:46, but only as number 2. The next day I did find the second cache after work having looked at a map and seen how to get to the parking coordinates and still got to be FTF I had looked at the right place and must have pushed it around with my hands but couldn't see it without light. So I did get 2 FTF's for my efforts. My logging a DNF on the middle cache the night before might have kept some of the other FTF hounds in the area from going after it but I wouldn't let it beat me. A fun memory to look back at here a little more than a year later. I now also keep a dedicated geocaching bag with a flashlight and a headlamp ready to go. /René
  3. Hi, I'm danish but I think I can decypher enough of the dutch language combined with what I remember from SpoilerSync on my home PC to tell you that you have to set a check-mark in the third box from the top to only get the images marked with spoiler or supply your own spelling in the long input box just underneath if you spell it differently in the Netherlands. /René
  4. That is almost correct Hynr. I have set my map point (Custom POI) to be visible at the 5 km level, and they an only they are visible until I zoom further in to around the 500-800 m level where the map points (Map POI) become visible, this last zoom level depend on what you have set the map detail level to. I have that set to the middle of the 5 (I don't have the GPSr with me now so I can't remember the name of that level). ProsperoDK/René
  5. Instead of searching in reference to your current position you can pan on the map or search for a city name in the area you are interested in and then press map instead of goto. Now when you press find waypoint or find custom POI it searches in reference to where your map arrow is located not in reference to where the GPSr says you are currently located. /René
  6. With both POI's and waypoints if you set the GPSr to show nearest it will at most only show the 50 nearest. But if you search by name I think you will see that all 162 POI's was transfered. As an aside I think it's a great boost to see other people recommend my macro from the GSAK macro library, thanks BaldEd /René
  7. I have noticed that the coordinates transfered to the GPSr isn't the same as on the ones on the cache-page, the final number in both Latitude and Longitude can differ 1 or 2 up or down. One of my caches have the coordinates N 55° 14.674 E 009° 23.306 but when seen on the GPSr the coordinates are N 55° 14.676 E 009° 23.304. Another cacher on the danish forum as seen the same bahaviour, this is for me with Firefox 1.5.0.12, I think his is with IE7. ProsperoDK/René
  8. You might want to take a look at the newest version of POIloader (2.4.0.1 Beta). It should fix the transparency issue, at least on Garmin units. Get it from Garmin here. From the release notes: ProsperoDK/René
  9. I was out caching with a group of people yesterday and one of the others noticed this too, whereas I didn't since I use custom waypoint symbols, so it appears to only affect waypoints with the closed treasure chest, that is if you use the geocaching mode. ProsperoDK/René
  10. Only if you save your POI as a waypoint with the closed treasurechest icon before you select it and navigate to it. ProsperoDK/René
  11. It does indeed work on a 60CSx, you just have to hold the on/off button slightly longer than when you just want to power up the unit. I had to hold it for about 3 seconds. This Screendump is from my 60CSx, only edited to blot out the serial number, so yes xImage does work already there. The bottom-left part is for testing the buttons and when you press you toggle through several test patterns for the screen. ProsperoDK/René
  12. Thanks for the kudos, there might be an update to that macro in the next few days in that thread, after some feedback. ProsperoDK/René
  13. I tried two different setups with my rigid arm suction cup. With the rigid arm resting on the dash and with the arm not touching the dash. Its a 20 year old car that I have so it doesn't run as smoothly or vibration-less as a newer car, but for me the best was with the rigid arm NOT touching the dash. For the most part there's very little vibration except if I hit the resonance frequency of the arm, so I'm very satisfied with my choice. ProsperoDK/René
  14. Seeing ThePropers reference to the macro I had written and had mailed a copy of to him, gave me the push to publish it to the GSAK forum for macro's. It can be found here. ProsperoDK/René
  15. Congratulations, you will like it. And you may actually get the coordinates of the couch with the new 60CSx while in the house /René
  16. I don't know where you heard that, but it's incorrect. The GPS won't act as a charger, regardless of which external power port is being used. Even if it could, it would be a bad idea. Charging a battery causes it to heat up quite a bit, and the memory card is right behind the batteries. Well, I guess I stand corrected I was certain I had read it somewhere here on the forum though, but I guess not. ProsperoDK/René
  17. Looking at this page about 3/4 down the page it might be that the name of your waypoint could have had something like @10 in it. That page is for Points Of Interest (POI's) but maybe it works the same with waypoints, I haven't tested that. ProsperoDK/René
  18. At the current exchange rates I paid 93 $ (it was 50 £ including the shipping and handling from the UK to Denmark) The difference between the two is that the Circular 4 Pin Cigarette Lighter Adapter will charge your rechargeable batteries in the GPSr, whereas the USB Car Charger will only function as an external source of power, the batteries will not be charged via the USB interface. I heard of some people here in the forum that didn't like the RAM-mount cradle for the GPSmap 60 series, that's why I went for the Garmin cradle instead, but the suction cup part looks like the same as mine. I think they said it was too hard on the rubber at the bottom of the GPSr. ProsperoDK/René
  19. Back from work today I could look up the parts: The "1 x 3.25" twist-lock suction cup mount" is this one. Part number: RAP-B-166 The "1 x Universal adaptor plate for Garmin cradles" is this one. Part number: RAM-HOL-GA11U The "1 x Automotive Mounting Bracket GPSMAP60 Series" is this one. Part number: 010-10456-00 It is supposed to sit on the windshield like this: ProsperoDK/René
  20. I have the following three things: 1 x 3.25" twist-lock suction cup mount 1 x Universal adaptor plate for Garmin cradles 1 x Automotive Mounting Bracket GPSMAP60 Series Actually just for the cradle, cradle-holder and pin part, I haven't seen that sold separately. Together it looks like this, and fits on the windshield to the right side of me. The GPSr is then below the lower edge of the windshield and blocks none of my view and is within easy reach. I bought it in the UK on the Internet and it cost me just under 50 £ ProsperoDK/René
  21. Is it common for your unit to freeze when you do what you said but the unit isn't connected to a PC?? Cause mine is stuck If your firmware is current (2.90 or 3.00 I think) just press on/off switch briefly otherwise hold it down and you turn your unit off and can turn it on normaly afterwards. ProsperoDK/René
  22. I am not sure. I'd like to put together a compatibility list, so if you'd like to try it and let me know, that would be great. I think it works on all the 60's, the 76's and someone said it worked on their Legend C. I would think that it should work on any unit that supports custom icons, so take a look when making a waypoint manually and see if theres a custom group under the waypoint icons. The Product Compatibility list for Garmins POI Loader includes the Quest 2. Check here. ProsperoDK/René
  23. Press [menu]-[menu]-"setup"-"display"-backlight timeout and set it to "stays on" [menu] indicates button, "setup" indicates icon on display ProsperoDK/René
  24. Of course you did but changing the color on the sign in MS Paint is just about on my skill level, so now i have the blue sign: ProsperoDK/René
  25. I just thought that I would put these three pictures up against each other: 1: The official danish geocoin, first test coin from 26/6-06: 2: The icon for the official danish geocoin: 3: The geocaching.com wallpaper for october: Has geocaching.com been inspired a little ProsperoDK/René
