  1. This looks like it is going to be so beautiful. I think you made the right choice on the design. I wish I could get it, but my dance card is already overflowing. Maybe I'll win the lottery. Oh wait I'd have to buy a ticket.
  2. What is Apples to Apples. So many games here I've never heard of. I need to go back and start asking all the others about their games. My BFF has so many games and a lot I'd never heard of before she got. Not board games though. LCR is one she does at a lot of her smaller parties. Add some jello shots and I'm not sure how many guests even care about the food.
  3. I love these coins. I got mine last week (seemed really quick after I ordered them) and have been meaning to say how much I've enjoyed showing them off to friends and family. I'm going to let my son choose which of the two he likes best.
  4. Great coin. I am already working on my entry. When it's finished I will have to wait until my son is sleeping before I enter it, because he loves to push buttons on my computer and a few times he's posted things before I've finished. I wouldn't want to get a DQ because of technical difficulties. I can't wait to read these.
  5. I discovered Geocaching while I was in Florida for Christmas. Some women on a parenying after IVF (infertility treatments) had a thread about it. I decided to try it out with my husband and son, and we were hooked. My dad was ill and our trip home was delayed. We didn't discover our first coin until we headed home in late January. It was a beautiful Bell Witch mystery coin. I was hooked. I've since bought a few coins for my collection and I'm planning to buy a few to release when I find some I like, but not enough that I can't bear to let them travel. I wish I could afford to buy every one that speaks to me, but we live on a very limited income so I can't do that. Luckey for me I got a little money for my birthday last week so I was able to buy several that I really wanted. Just not the one I wanted most (of the ones I've seen so far) because they went for over $30 on ebay. I am so addicted that I hope someday to have my own coin made. It's nice to see I'm not the only one who got caught up by the fever.
  6. The second one sounds like Crainum. You explained it so well. I played that for the first time a little over a year ago and I loved it. We even bought the game but Daniel isn't old enough yet and we don't have any friends. (OK so we have a few, but most don't have kids.) The only problem I could see is that after playing it a few dozen times and having gone thru all the cards you would know so many of the answers. I saw another version (gold or something) but it would be nice if they put out more card packs you could buy to keep the game fresh.
  7. Hey! Pass the Pigs! thats great! i believe it was made by Porker Brothers, right?! by the way, your edit was approved and noted. thanks for playing. Thank you. I've been trying to find where I hid that game to see who make. But porkers brothers should have. LOL. I hadn't even thougth about asking about the darn edit. I was still typing when my 2 1/2 decided to push buttons. It was so quick and not for numbers that instinct took over and I just went back and finished it. I seem to have to do that a lot lately. Maybe I need to get the button pusher his own computer already. I thought 5 or 6 would be soon enough. But they make them really smart these days and he wants starfall.com all the time. The kid has a ton of aunts and uncles and 1000's of toys. I can't even find my floor, but nope he need, to quote him; "I need do letters: on computer."
  8. My son was born in August 13th 2007 so 8, 13 & 7 We found out we were pg on 12/22 So I’ll round my numbers out with those. I thought about using the day he was conceived but it would have left me one number short because it was the 13th. But as it turns out I managed to do all 3. Because it was December. 7-8-12-13-22 The luckiest numbers in my life. I beat the odds when I finally got pg with him. I really like the coin. My all time favorite game is nickel and dime poker with my family. I have so many fond memories of playing when my grandparents were alive. When I play now, it always makes me feel close to them. Usually we play dealers choice, with lots of wild cards. Lately though we’ve been playing East Liverpool Rummy (I think that’s the name of the game.) because my Aunt likes it so much. As long as I’m with my family I don’t care what the game is or even if I loose. I have a lot of great memories of playing another game with family too. It’s called “Pass the Pigs” It’s a lot of fun. You get 2 small rubber pigs and you roll them for points. How they land determines how many points you get or if your roll is over and you have to pass them to the next person. It’s funny and a lot of fun. Seeing the look on peoples faces the first time they play Priceless. The game is inexpensive too. I highly recommend it. I used to like Monopoly and I plan to order a game called FamilyOpoly. It's customized to your family. But I'm waiting until my son is a bit older, because they use things like the names schools and friends and at 2 1/2 I can't think of enough fill in the blanks for it to a keepsake for him. Thanks for the cointest. Good luck to everyone.
  9. What I did when that happened was contact the person I thought had dropped it. I had to look back at logs to see who had visited the last cache and the one I found it at, because it was still showing in another cache, as of several months ago. I asked them if they had left it and if they wanted me to wait for them to log it or if I should just grab it from the last cache and move it. They asked me to wait and it took a few weeks but they logged it and I grabbed it from the cache I found it in. (I put it on my watchlist so I would get an email and didn't have to check every day.) It was my first trackable coin and I'm a newbie too, so I wanted to do it right. I also posted a note to the owner letting them know that I had the coin (they might have assumed it was missing) and that I was waiting for another player to move the coin. I added that if at any time they wanted me to grab it and get it moving faster I would do that if they let me know. I never heard from them so I waited. Hopefully I didn't offend anyone with my method. But if I'd been either of the parties involved this I would have been OK with it. It's so cool to find a coin and move it. I hope to find many more in the future.
  10. I can't wait to see these. I have got to have at least the wolf one. I'm not having much luck finding wolf coins and I really want to find a few. I have no idea how I am going to pay for my coin addition.
  11. Those are beautiful. I just spent my b-day money or I'd order at least 1. If my DH doesn't need another surgery, I may have to find a way to squeeze my budget.
  12. I picked mine back up from Services, because no one had visited it since I dropped it. I was going to San Antonio for my Birthday and wanted to swap it with a Geocoin trading cache listed as an easy cache on the riverwalk. Sadly I couldn't find that cache. It was supposed to be an easy one (I met another cacher and she couldn't find it either. Nor could the next the team that searched.) I feared it was muggled, but thankfully someone just buried it under the leaves. I'm assuming deeply, because that was my first thought. I left it near Austin in my favorite cache so far. It's called Smooches Hopefully both coins will go far and spread the word. If you have any more you need hidden, I would be happy to do as many as you want in the Houston, Conroe, Huntsville area.
  13. My brithday was monday and my MIL gave me some money that I'm saving just incase I get lucky enough to see when the extras come up for sale. They look so beautiful.
  14. Congratulations, TDCompton So many wonderful dreams. So many amazing dreamers. Good Luck to all of you.
  15. I’ve had bronchitis and kept thinking I would get better and drag myself out “tomorrow.” I’m new to geocahing, we started while we were visiting my family in FL and haven’t really done much around my home so I didn’t have a good place in mind to start mine. The caches I had found were one near my Dr’s office that I didn’t feel was safe and the other was not one I could leave a coin in. I decided that I’d try to put it in a new cache and was hoping one would come up close. I was thrilled when 2 popped up this morning. But when I got ready to go my GPS could not get a lock. Neither of them sounded like they were going to be easy to find. I remembered that I had a few saved that might be easy enough to find with just the description. The first one was a bust, but thankfully just as I was ready to give up on the second the cloud cover cleared just enough for me to get a short lock and to realize that I needed to move at least 100 feet down the road. I was so glad that I found that cache, because I really didn’t want to let you down. If you would like to read my log. TB3CHRK I left it in Services around the Fairgrounds. http://www.geocaching.com/seek/cache_detai...09-01d1cfb36d36 If anyone in the Houston area is interested in discovering or finding it.
  16. I love these stories. So wonderful. I hope someday to add a Reaper to our collection, someday. OK so we only have a Bell Witch so far, but she NEEDS her Reaper. I'll be keeping an eye out to see if one ever visites our neck of the woods. I love the night and am not afraid of those who haunt it.
  17. These are beautiful I wish I'd seen them early enough to order some. I guess I'll have to try to find one elsewhere, but I wanted to let you know how much I like them.
  18. I'm honored to help. I've followed the stories of 2 women on forums that I belong to who's infants had surgery for heart defects. Both of thier lives were saved by amazing Dr's. The second one just got out of the hospital about a week ago. He was 3 months old by the time he went home. I kept up with his mothers journal on caring bridge and it really made me think about how blessed we are to have a healthy son. How lucky they were to have access to medical care. I am thrilled to be able to help spread the word about Little Hearts Big Love. Now I just have to search for the right place to start it here in SE Texas. I can't wait to see the coin. I'll be posting about it on my Facebook page and some forums that I belong to.
  19. I always wanted to have children. I don’t remember a time when I didn’t dream about the day I’d hear someone call me mama. All my friends wanted to grow up to be something, but not me I wanted to be someone. So many years passed waiting for the right man to come along. I got married once and after 10 years of telling me to wait he told me. “I’ve decided we aren’t going to have children.” I left him and vowed to make my dream come true alone. Before I could do that I met my current husband and we started trying right away. It wasn’t long before I learned what infertility is. I come from a super fertile family and sadly I learned that they (and others) have little sympathy for those who are not so lucky. They couldn’t comprehend why someone would go to extreme lengths to have what they take for granted. They didn’t get to sorrow and despair that comes from years of trying to conceive. The loss of heart. How much it takes to keep trying to achieve your dream when everyone else thinks you should give up. That anyone would spend the amount of money and energy it sometimes takes just to have a baby. Even as I got older and my chances waned I refused to give up. I’ve never counted the dollars (Over $50,000) or the days (over 6 years) but I’m counting my blessings that I was one of the lucky ones. That my 5% chance on my last IVF (in vetro fertilization) actually worked when truthfully even I didn’t believe that it would. So I accomplished that dream. But it gave birth to others. My new dreams are to raise awareness of infertility. I plan to launch some TB’s that hopefully will do that. I’m just deciding how I want them to work. Maybe a series, with some talking about the things fertile people say that can really hurt. (Such as “relax and you’ll get pregnant” my husband had no sperm when we started so relaxing would have worked about as well as being celibate.) I am also working on a book of poetry about my Battle with infertility. I hope to publish it someday. It’s been really hard for me to actually edit the poems I wrote and put them into order. Reading them brings the feelings back so clearly. But I’ve been working on it a lot lately. I’m sure there many dreams here that are just as worthy and I almost didn’t post. But then I realized that here is a chance to maybe raise someone’s awareness of infertility and how devastating it can be. That it’s made even worse because most insurance co’s don’t cover the cost of treatment. Mine at least covered some of my drugs or I’d never have been able to afford it. (I was a poor responder and my drugs cost as much as the treatments.) Of course I also dream of having a second child, but we can't afford to go thru all the treatments again. I’m too old anyway. (say’s the woman with a 2 ½ year old.) Spending all our money on infertility treatments and then DH ending up on disability is part of what led us to Geocaching. It’s a great way to have family fun without spending a lot of money. There was a discussion about it on the IVF board I belong to and we checked it out. Thank you for having this contest. Good luck to all the dreamers. I should have read the entire thread before I posted. I see everyone who already posted is a winner. I think that is wonderful. I don't mind at all that I posted too late.
  20. We’re new to the game out hunting about Searching for “treasures” When my son gave a shout. He’d spotted a box and we opened it fast Would he choose the first treasure? Or would he choose the last? He shuffled past toys And grabbed a small pack Wrapped up in cammo He didn’t put it back This treasure went straight Into his tiny pocket and he wouldn’t let mama look and unlock it Much later I pried His treasure away As I wondered what He’d snagged on this day The tape was real tight Where the pieces did join But inside was an awesome Bell Witch Mystery Coin. This is our first Mystery Coin (first coin ever) and we love it. Thank you Kate. We will treasure it always. I think it was fate that we found this one. Daniel (2 ½) loves the moon. We have to take him outside almost every night. When we discovered that your coin shines bright in the dark we were even more enthralled with it. We also have cat (Wicca) and love the night. If we are ever brave enough (and can afford) to make our own Coin you will be first on our list to get one. Thank you.
