  1. Interesting idea just watch those sharp edges
  2. ChileHead, This is my point about change. As far as I can tell the only thing you can't do is OFFER to sell your personal non trackable coin. What people do and offer you in a private communication is your business and really can't be regulated. See the Tacomahunter thread for an example of the new rules.Note the extra work required by the moderators to keep it legal
  3. Okay, After a lot of reflecting on the new guidelines it seems there will be very little change. I just want to make sure I am reading it correctly. The only changes I see Commercial coin companies (who will make a nice profit) are allowed to sell trackable coins for cachers and may be linked here. Personal non trackable coins may be listed here but may not be posted as ordering threads unless it is for trades. It seems to me a fine line and will require a lot of moderator time.I strongly believe that any coin enhances the game and adds to the fabric of the community at large. Trackable on non trackable any coin adds to the demand. That is why they are so popular. I know that this thread is being monitored by a lot of powers that be and I can only ask that you reconsider the policy and keep this site open and welcoming.
  4. Interested in a trade Great coin!
  5. These are exactly what I use and the same cost. Not sure what S&H would add. Thanks for the link
  6. Cool design, I would be interested in trading for my personal coin Tracking is nice and would allow you to post sales info here but it is not that important to me
  7. Michaels does not have the 6mm foam.I found mine at Pearl Paint. I just looked and they do have a website at www.pearlpaint.com. I was not able to find it listed.A phone # is 800 451 7327,The one near my house had several colors available and online they may have more. The trading card pockets are 2 1/2 X 3 1/2 but I found I had to cut the blanks a little small so they would fit.The foam I got was in a sheet 9X12 so I cut the blanks 2 3/8 X 3 1/4 and was able to use almost the whole sheet As far as how snug for the coin, the foam gives enough that you stretch it a little.I use the slugs to gauge the size though I am finding that most coins are standard.I cut each blank as I need it so I am sure of opening size
  8. The foam is thick 6mm and I cut the blanks so they fit snug.I bought a "Compass Cutter" at Michaels and it works great.I cut the circles a little tight so the foam hugs the coin so it stays in place.I use the slugs to gauge size and have gotten pretty good at it.I made a template to make sure the hole is centered.I have acquired a bunch of slugs in the process.I may try to figure a way to make them a cache trade item
  9. I think that they under estimated the impact.I feel strongly that non trackable coins add to the overall fabric of the game and huge increase of trackable coins.I hope that the powers that be will see and hear and respond. I have been given approval(I think) to post my new coins for sale as planned because they are in production and that shows so flexibility. It seems to me they have embraced a commercial policy aimed at bringing more money to Groundspeak. I can probably sell coins on ebay for more than I can here but have chosen to post here to keep the cost reasonable for the buyer.
  10. Whew, It took a long time to read all of this. I saw this before I went to work and thought about it all day.I have been working on new cache series and thought about it while scouting a couple new locations. I am disappointed in the new guidelines As I stated earlier it seems fair but commercial.I have a personal non trackable coin that has been ordered, paid for, and is in production as I write this. The thread is now buried some where and I intended to let it lay until my coins arrived. At that time I hoped to offer for sale or trade the 50-75 coins remaining.I hope the exception noted above will allow me to do so. I hope that Groundspeak will reconsider this policy.Personal coins are a big part of the overall success of trackable coins and I would imagine have provided GC.com with a nice new source of revenue.I understand that non trackable coins do not contribute financially but they do provide a large part of the base level that supports geocoins as a whole. Please do not force us to find other forums. We like it here. We spend a lot of time here. If one of the moderators could email me directly about my coin I would appreciate it.This thread is busy
  11. This will force those of us with new (already in production)coins to e bay.I might have changed my plans had I known this was coming but it would appear there is little transition.I felt strongly about offering some of my coins for sale so those without something to trade could obtain one. My main focus was and remains trading and coins to place in caches. The new guideline serves only to leverage new coins to be trackable. Fair but commercial just the same.
  12. Great coin,e mail sent requesting trade
  13. Maryland cachers rule!!! I think you have me down for a trade already.
  14. I would like to trade when you are ready
  15. I have updated my coin list and will be sending e mail to those who requested trades that I have not heard from.If you requested a trade I have one reserved for you but otherwise the LE copper is no longer available. There are around 50 of the nickel finish available for trade or sale. Post here to reserve up to 3. I will be sending payment info later.I do not have a projected shipping date but expect them the first week of February and will post an update when I know more.
  16. I use 6mm craft foam and a circle cutter and sports card pages.I tried cardboard but it was hard to cut to size. It hold the coins in place and as you can see they look great. As far as arranging them I have the GC trackable coins first and then places then personals
  17. There is no way to find out who activated the coin unless the auction states it.I too would be curious as to who the seller was and what other coins they are selling.Did the description state that it was new or unactivated? It is the nature of the e place. It is buyer beware but I do know from selling coins there that there is a disclaimer about the origin and validity of the coin that sellers have to agree to.
  18. Thanks for all the nice comments and e mail. The LE coppers are mostly spoken for at this point. If you are still interested in the LE send me an email. There are at least 70 nickel finish available for trades and purchase. You can post here or e mail me for those I will be sending out confirmations and payment information in the next few day. Thanks for the trades and orders.
  19. I have ordered my new coins and they should be here in February ( The Chinese New Year will push them back a week)and I wanted to post the final artwork and request new orders and trades. There will be 200 in polished nickel for sale and trades and 50 in polished copper(these are gone) for trades only. They will be numbered but not trackable. They are being produced by Coins and Pins. The cost will be $7.00 per coin and that will include paypal fees and shipping.International orders will be $7.50 per coin.Orders are limited to 3 coins. Both metals are limited so you should post here and email me to be sure they are still availabe. This is the die art submitted; . I had not intended for the first thread (original thread) to be for pre orders but I have gotten a lot of interest so I am using it as a starting point. If you requested a trade I have a copper reserved for you but you should send me an email with a trade offer and details. It may be a day or two before I can contact everyone on the list.My coin list is in my signature line and I am looking for coins I do not have. If you are requesting to purchase an e mail will make it easier on me.I will send you Pay Pal info or my address if you prefer to pay by check. If you posted in the original thread you should be on the list and you need only wait for confirmation.Let me know if I missed you This is a list of people who posted requests in the other thread or sent e mails. wolfmaster nicolo yogi and dolphin ParentsofSAM HerrK & Lassie Damenace Go JayBee Prairiepartners Nomad and the Librarians AtlantaGal Rusty O Junk SharpShin' Toojin & Bart southbayday DL3BZZ outdoorlady79 Cruiserdude qattales Thorny1 Crowesfeat30 mohr11 IceCreamMan Golfin'Fool and Me too! chief20r2 DLiming Team Rampant Lion Rupert2 2Wheel'in Blind Avocado fox-and-the-hound rowanf graylling DHobby1 Marky Cornerstone4 DancesWithMoose Hailmars Team LightningBugs joefrog Terrible Ts chrisgun Arrow One rivercity Ladycacher & Boys The Moops Team Tecmage SkinGuy DLiming GrandpaKim Two Happy Hikers Son of Cyclops Team Sand Dollar Night_Hawk GeoBrowns drexotic mudsneaker ou8alizzard geolands Stuck on WGS84 Mystery Ink

I'm sure others have stories to share and some may not share my positive opinion. Yesterday the one coin package lost in the mail returned to me. For the Maryland coin I sent out around 300 packages of different size and weight to domestic and international destinations. It was my first project of this type. Only one of the packages failed to make it to its destination (Decatur Ga.) and after several e mails back and forth I sent replacement coins. It finally showed up damaged but not broken and the person sent it back to me.It was postmarked Sept.6 and arrived just before Christmas. I have since sent another couple hundred with similar results.I find the staff at my local post offices friendly and helpful. I look forward to my mail and I'm sure my mail carrier wonders what is in all these bubble mailers.
  21. Thanks for all the replies. The crow is a nickname my girlfriend has used for me for years.I am drawn to shiny things. My golf buddies tease me about how many golf balls I find in the woods so geocaching seemed like a natural hobby for me.You would not believe how many pennies I find I am close to moving forward and have only to work out a couple details.I prefer trades but realize not everyone has coins for trades which is why some will be for sale. There are currently around 80 requested and several people have already sent trade offers. If you want one of the LE copper you can send me an email and I am sure most traders have something I want.I will consider anything but I am partial to trackable or personal coins. Thanks for the interest and support.
