  1. i'm finding that i'm in with "the others". i'll do some crazy things on a local level, but i have already worked through any itch that would cause me to plan a trip to the middle of kansas or into the rainy northwest.
  2. it absolutely is... and by god (or jeremy) there is a world record to be had!!!!!!!!!!!!
  3. the most problems i have had finding a hide or three.... my prescription sunglasses which are polarized. i don't know why it exactly does it, but i have been all over a tree/bush/fence/guardrail and found nothing... gone back to the car, switched glasses to look for something in the trunk or whatever, gone back and found the elusive cache in a matter of seconds. then there are those which are right out in the open, which i stare at and think "nah, can't be that easy" and bypass it all together because the CO rated it a "4" and the last 10 or so have not found it.
  4. Someone needs to find what cacher was the last to log this and teach them to do a better job of explaining what geocaching is. If someone catches you caching - especially in a very urban area like a parking lot or parking garage - you really need to be open with the person so they don't get suspicious. nah, just say "praise be to allah" and then continue kneeling at the lamppost. everything should be just fine after they realize you are just praying.
  5. i've started running the two wheelers off the road.... makes it easier to be FTF... or get to the good swag first.
  6. ....or the cache is so damaged and they felt obliged to replace it, so they do with a starbucks cup (with lid) and the receipt as the new log.
  7. 12/17/2000, CenTex Prime GCEF United States
  8. i'm not liking virtuals at all - go here, read this sign, email what the third word is and take a picture of your gps (without showing the sign).... really? love to find a nano/micro where it is appropriate - not after a long bushwhacking session. love to find a large, but only have 1 or 2 of those and it was a little too urban of a location to make sense.
  9. i could imagine someone, one weekend, starting up about 20 "polls" in an attempt to "get to know" their fellow cachers. with the repeating topics (and sometimes rage shown over the stream of "the same question"), i could see how that'd be a real drag to have a dozen polls running
  10. how about topping it off by having an event at the brother's (or brother-in-law, not sure which) newly opened restaurant. no discount.... just come and eat please... fill up the place. tacky tacky tacky, all of it.
  11. i log them all... i post these long winded posts about how i raced out to GZ in the dark of night and got FTF!!!!! then i pepper the online log with smilies. after that giddiness wears off, i switch over to CO and congratulate myself and mark it down on the cache page that i was FTF.
  12. did you do this on 1,593 geocaches or just one? how important is it that you get that "1" smilie?
  13. vacation cache, big check mark against = difficult to maintain. you don't care if it disappears, but geocaching.com does. as for the commercial bit, that really seems to be up to the reviewer as i've had an event declined that was similar. funny thing is, we'll still be a bunch of geocachers meeting and discussing geocaching.... just without the smilie and without the opportunity to invite others who might be interested.
  14. crude suggestion: sit next to her and break wind.
  15. clearly you have stolen someone's letterbox hide.... someone's well stocked, and creative letterbox.
  16. i would imagine the TBs and coins would disappear quicker.
  17. would have figured a higher terrain rating considering there is a tree climb.... the rest look like 13 year olds and cheaters.
  18. Help find a cache that takes anywhere from 18-24 seconds from the time you get out a car, slap a sticker on a log, and get back in? perhaps he should look through guiness to find out if there is a stickering WR.... or petition for a geocaching one to be added - one defined by him.
  19. i'm having a party at my house and i'm trying to get it as a GC event. it doesn't get published, will the party still go on? will there still be a discussion of geocaching? if "will it still happen" is the question, that seems irrelevant to the publishing of the event. that sort of implies that some people are running events just so they can get a smilie.
  20. you could have just posted it on here that knowschad needs to get out there and fix his cache.
  21. you think bowel movements are comedy? are you 12?
  22. you passed that many? i hope not all at once. if so, did it hurt? was it the exlax brownies that caused you to pass so many?
  23. yes, it was done, but lucky for all of us they are not big on forum posting so they didn't come here to do the obnoxious "look at us, bow before us" thread. anyone who uses a "modified" method on power trails is cheating. it is plain and simple. do one cache as a "team" and sticker it or whatever.... doing 800 via some work-like shift rotation amounts to 4 people doing 200 each (not 800 for 4). does that mean the US is even lower ranking in the world on math now?
