  4. would be nice if some of the new breed get launched in the uk - supposing it ever happens - be even nicer if they got sent to me!!
  5. she walks the woods in a black dress and me, i dress up in black...and we listen to the sea... and look at the gps in a poetic kind of way. what you call it when you look at the gps in a poetic kind of way? you know. when you grope for caches. Subbacultcha - The Pixies
  6. I ordered a rubber stamp from www.rubberstampz.co.uk just a few days ago, on the recommendation of The Mars Bars - hoping to get it soon and start stamping!
  7. good to hear you're going to keep caching hazel - best wishes to you on all your future finds! my daughter calls her gerbils 'fill' and 'bill' (though they're both girls, but she's not even two yrs old yet! (my daughter, not the gerbils) so she dont quite understand the masculine and feminine labels we adults tend to adopt!) if you would like us to adopt the coin, we will happily send it on its way with a mission to meet other small creatures! take care and keep on caching!
  8. got a white jeep in my possesion - where will i place it next though? - bristol area, or somewhere up north when i wander up for christmas? might just let my daughter play with it a while until i decide!
  9. does anyone know of any UK caches that require a bit of caving, other than the underworld series by wildebeast? i did 7 of the underworld series last week and have a taste for some more fun in the dark!! i'd also like to have a go at some requiring rope access - abseiling and such. any ideas?
  10. apparently, some people can speak Klingon (something to do with star trek i believe), some can even speak Welsh, which sounds similar, but with a few english words thrown in! can anyone fluently read or speak the encryped hints? and if so, what should this language be called? - cachenese? cachish? cachian? your thoughts please.......!?
  11. wow! inspired by my own percys bunker! that is nice to hear! look forward to you placing some in bristol!
  12. just to add to the list - i got the message from the perth lot as well today! seems ok, but then you never know i guess!
  13. thanks to simply paul, and stuey - your information is much appreciated! cheers!
  14. wow! thanks everyone - this was a surprise! apologies for victoria park - it was my first placed cache - but just like losing ones virginity - practice makes one better ! - expect more soon! (caches i mean!) thanks again and best wishes to you all!
  15. only ever been questioned by the police - spent 20 drunken minutes trying to explain to two police women the sport of geocaching - which wasnt really working for them. then i showed them the paperwork for the cache just done, and asked them to pose for a photo with a travel bug. they immediately went all girly - arranging hair, asked if id like the flashing lights off for the photo etc! might have been quicker if id just told them i was a location scout for the bbc - as i have done in other circumstances. ppl always seem to get happy once the bbc is involved, and theres potential that their area might get on the telly!
  16. could anyone please tell me how i can add a photo onto my cache listing page - the sort that comes up next to the description of the cache i have listed. many thanks in advance!
  17. Ive spent many many hours in box, monkton farleigh, ridge, browns, spring and sands, brewers, and swan to name a few. wouldnt recommend anyone who isnt experienced to go down any of these underground quarries at all!! i think it would be really wrong for a cache to be placed in such areas - due to the following - 1, the complete vastness of many of these quarries - we're talking tens of miles of passages in some of the locations (and thats just the surveyed mileage!) its so easy to get lost even if you think you know your way around, and even if you have a copy of a survey! 2, restrictions due to ownership (many of these places are MOD owned) and access is not allowed. there might be a way in, but you might be doing a big naughty by going in! 3, many of these places are full of bats (well, maybe not full, but there are some!) and laws exist regarding the disturbance of such flappy creatures! 4, its good to know about such underground places, but maybe not so good to tell the whole world, and his/her kids thats its a cool place to go looking in! by telling, these places unfortunately get locked up, or the entrances filled in. 5, gps dont work under the soil! and step by step directions in a vast underground maze can easily lead to confussion! having said that though, if anyone does really really feel the need to go to some of these places, then please contact either myself, others on this forum willing to take people down there, or websites like www.darkplaces.co.uk
  18. id rather find a cross than a mcdonalds toy or a used bus ticket in a cache, and im not even slightly religeous! though if someone places an item that means something to them, then i reckon whatever it is, thats cool.
  19. if i find a cache with a lose lid and it got some water inside, i try to get the cache dry again. i wouldnt want to put anything inside a wet cache, and id be happy if someone found one of mine in a state i wasnt aware of, and helped it out a little. i try to treat every cache with the thought that someone else will eventually find it - and either in better condition or with the contents traded up.
  20. maplin electronics sell very strong small magnets.
  21. when i was waiting for approval for my second cache stashed, i was a little confused when i was told that plastic bags werent very welcome. i didnt understand why, but anyhow, i changed the bag to a nylon one. a week ago, i was looking for a small cache which was apparently wrapped in a plastic bag. whilst i struggled to open a bag i found in the bushes, my girlfriend called out that she'd found the cache. she indeed had found the tupperware in its plastic bag - i had found a bag of dog poo - nicely wrapped - but still poo! i'll be more careful with anything wrapped in plastic in future!
  22. are there any caches situated in the grounds of motorway services? im going on a trip from bristol to the north east soon and was wondering whether there were any caches at the services on route. perhaps i'll leave one in a suitable location en route - any comments, ideas or opinions ?
