  1. i have gsak, i used it with my little yellow etrex and it worked. i have tried to download caches to this new unit on three laptops with no success. my gsak program sees the 300 waypoints i want to download, but i can't actually get them to transfer over.
  2. I can now turn on the unit while it is plugged into the computer, that was the spanner setting. Thanks, I got the answer from the site you suggested. I have tried to download and install the software, but the file on the garmin website is corrupt. It goes through the entire process and then says corrupt. Can this unit download from the pocket query without using gsak? thanks for your help! liz
  3. I must be missing the first important step~ when the GPS is plugged into the computer I can't get it to turn on, therefore I can not send the GSAK file. Is my unit defective?
  4. Hi Everyone, I have just purchased an Oregon 300, which is supposed to be very simple.......but so far I am not finding it that way. I am a Premimum member and would like to be able to download pocket query files to the unit. When connected to my computer, I can not even get the unit to come on. I am looking for a techie person that could meet me and set up my computer and GPS so that they work together...I'm sure that it is something that I am doing wrong, but can't figure out. I would be willing to buy the coffee, dinner or reimburse you for your time. I just want to geocache again. OR, if anyone is using an Oregon 300 that could offer some suggetions that would be great. Thanks, cache lizzy cache

  7. Tony was the first person to welcome me to the Spring Fling event in Bradford and at Quarks in Mississauga. My thoughts and prayers go out to Tony's family at this sad time.
  8. Hi Everyone, I am looking for help locating my missing Travel Bug that attended the Georia meets Tennesse meets Alabama event on January 21/06. He was dropped there, and has never been seen since. Anyone have any ideas....this event still shows quite a few bugs and coins in the inventory. He is a little Brown Bear keychain. Any help finding hims is greatly appreciated, please check your caching packs to see if he's hidden in there.
  9. We had quite the bit of explaining to do when entering Scottish Parliment to look for clues in a multi cache. Our small jackknives in our packs for geocaching, did not meet the countries law for carrying (2.5 inch blade), and the security officers had to call police to have us cleared. They suggested that the pocket knives be left in our hotel room, and then packed into our checked luggage when travelling home. We could have been charged-but were let off with just a warning. It definately added to our caching stories.
  10. Last month, while completing Medway Ramble, in London, Ontario-we found what was a perfect cache location guarded by a raccoon. Upon closer inspection with our stick, we found it was only the raccoon head. It had been placed perfectly as a guard to the cache, but it was not properly skinned-so the insects were enjoying lunch on his decomposing flesh. It freaked us out quite well, we were just glad that we didn't have any kids with us.
  11. I'm cool with the 22nd as well. I've talked to a few of the Chatham cachers and the holiday weekend presents a problem for them too.
  12. I was caching in NS in October, that's where I got introduced to this new obsession. Around Chester-try Beware of Troll(temporarily disabled-but should be up by next week, and Lizzy's Lakeside Lookout. Lizzy's is mine, looked after by my sister in law.
