  1. It is an unwritten rule or guideline, but most cachers find it helpful to find quite a few caches before they place one. This will help immensely so you have a better idea of what to expect and get some creative ideas on fun containers and cache descriptions. Happy caching!
  2. Hi henlas, You can sign up for the free 30 day trial of Premium Membership on the following page: http://www.geocaching.com/garmin/freetrial.aspx Just put in the code on the card and you should be good to go. The 30 day trial doesn't start until you activate it. As for the download, make sure you save it where you'll remember it. Usually new installed programs go in Program Files or Downloads. I hope this helps!

The quarterly membership automatically auto-renews, so you'd have to cancel the quarterly membership then start the annual membership. No worries, your Premium membership would continue. You can also call Groundspeak at 206-302-7721.
  6. The API, which is what you need to log in to the site from the iPhone, went down this morning at 2:00 am PDT. It has been fixed and everyone should now be able to log in to the site. If you still cannot log in, please email contact@geocaching.com and we will be happy to help. We are sorry for the inconvenience. We'll do more checks over the weekend so if it does go down again during our dark hours we'll be more responsive.

  8. If your friend (cough, you, cough ) can gain access to her old email address, email contact@Groundspeak.com and the fabulous ladies and gentlemen would be happy to send the password reminder. If that's not an option, then yes, just like you suggested, she can sign up for a new free account at this page: http://www.geocaching.com/login/new.aspx She is welcome to re-log her finds under the new account, as long as she indicates as such in the logs. Happy caching!
  9. The Resources tab is another great tool to get you started. The Learn the Basics at the top includes links for a glossary of all the acronyms and terms geocachers often use. http://www.geocaching.com/resources/default.aspx Hope this helps. Happy caching!
