  1. I was thinking of burning a few mix albums onto CD for geocaching swag, with a label that clearly indicates "Parental Advisory, Explicit Lyrics." Is this OK? I don't want to upset people.
  2. I just heard of terracaching.com, and gave it a look see last night. My first impression is that they are disgrunted geocachers, that have formed their own "elitist" group, ensuring only caches of "top quality" are acknowledged. Maybe it is something more. There are apparently no "terracaches" within 100 miles of my home, although there are several thousand geocaches in that range. I am a novice geocacher, but I have found them to be quite rewarding so far, and the quality of most have been better than average. So, are any of you rogue terracachers as well? What's the deal?
  3. I read about it in a local tech mag (www.wirehed.com) about 2 years ago. They had an article where they took about 4 beautiful local strippers out into the woods for some geocaching fun. (babes are geeks too) Then I read about it again in the blog http://www.wilwheaton.net/ and it sounded really fun. Unfortunately, I never really had the money for a GPSr. Then, just recently, I was able to justify using financial aid funds for a GPSr because I could use geocaching for a project in my Aerobics class. I've found 10 caches in the last 3 weeks. It's been fun.
  4. I'm super super super excited. I've wanted to go geocaching for about 2 years, but didn't have the finances / ambition to really start. But, I saw a Magellan SporTrak Pro for sale in a local store for only $120, and I couldn't resist. Whoopee! I hope to find my first cache this Saturday! I'm afraid the SporTrak pro might not be the best gps to use, but it is fine for a noob, right? I've heard really bad things about the street map software available for it, but does that really matter? Also, there are several 1/1 caches in my area near the river, am I setting myself up for failure if I try to find more than one my first time out? Is there a technique to choosing that first cache to find? Where do you go shopping to swap out cache items, or do you use old stuff from around the home? For the last couple of days I've been driving my hubby crazy with "guess what our elevation is now?" and "guess what our coordinates are now?" and "guess what time the moon rise was today?" But I've also been daydreaming about all the weight I'm going to loose due to hiking, how I'm instantly going to become a great outdoorsman, and all the beautiful scenery that's right in my backyard that I'm finally going to enjoy, now that I have a gps unit. (I know that actually, since the rain season is starting here, my poor gps will probably gather dust, and I'll continue to get fatter while playing video games and watching TV) Yeah, yeah, I’m rambling. But I guess that's a newbie for you...
