    Camp Muir!

Some people in our little group are worried about the chance of thunderstorms tomorrow. We're still planning to head down and assess the weather situation when we get there. There's a chance we may choose to do a different hike, but we're still planning to meet at Paradise at the moment to decide. Anyone else for sure planning to come?

    Camp Muir!

Hope it works out for you all to join us! Looks like the nice weather may even hold out for the weekend!

    Camp Muir!

That was a great day! I was with a later group of cachers that day - it was my first time up to Muir and it quickly became one of my favorite hikes in the NW. I'm hoping we're lucky enough to have decent weather again this time.

    Camp Muir!

Some Lackeys and I are planning to head up to Camp Muir on Saturday July 14th. We'd love to have others join us! Geocaches: GCA69 and GC1192 Info on the hike: http://www.wta.org/go-hiking/hikes/camp-muir Roundtrip 10.0 miles Elevation Gain 4600 ft Time: Start at the trailhead (at Paradise) no later than 8am. Let me know if you're planning to come so we can know who to look for. Seems like meeting just outside the new visitors center would be best for a meet up spot.
  6. Yes it was a great hike with great company! I actually didn't even mind the rain that much. Here's a link to my photos.
  7. Just to be clear on the meeting spot - are we meeting at 47 29.236 - 120 24.654?
  8. Okay, just a booked a room in Wenatchee. I'm in! Looks like rain on this side this weekend, so I'd rather go see some sun.
  9. I'm thinking about this one. If I go, I'd like to head over Friday and stay in a hotel somewhere near Wenatchee/Leavenworth if I can find a decent priced one. Any recommendations?
  10. Was there a specific reason for choosing Mount Si? Just in my personal opinion, there are far prettier hikes nearby with a lot less traffic. If you go on a weekend, that trail can be a bit of a superhighway. SiHi is a nice cache at the top though. I second wimseyguy's recommendation of hitting Ebey Bluffs - well worth it!
  11. This is very sad news indeed. My condolences to his family and friends.
  12. I saw your car in the parking lot on Saturday. Looked around the tent area a little bit but didn't see familiar faces. At least I got the discovery on your car. It was a great weekend to be over on the peninsula.
  13. Yeah, we can definitely stop by after our hike. It looks like Saturday is going to be the better of the two days this weekend. Hopefully that 40% chance of rain Sunday means the 60% chance of no rain is actually going to win.
  14. There's a strong chance my group and I will no longer be doing the hike. They like the idea of the Cape Alava hike, but I'm not sure I can convince them to go for the geocache as well as get up super early to make the drive over to be there on time. I'll let you know if anything changes, but I'd say don't plan to wait for us.
  15. I'll be staying up at Neah Bay at the Hobuck Resort, so will have a bit of a drive just to get there in the morning. I tried to get people talked into backpacking, but the group is definitely more of the car camping variety. I'm on AT&T and don't recall much coverage anywhere near Neah Bay last year.
  16. What time are you thinking to start at the trail head? It's been a few years since I've done the Cape Alava hike. The plan is to meet at that trail head right? Still don't know numbers on my group yet, but I'm guessing 2-3 besides me.
  17. I'm in for the May hike! I'm camping near Neah Bay that weekend so I'll be in the neighborhood. Will likely have friends with me, but not sure how many yet.
  18. fallyn - if you'd like us to look into the login issues with the original account, please send us an email to shop at geocaching.com with the account details. Thank you for your order!
  19. What a great hike with a great group of people! I'm glad I decided to go - it made for a fantastic weekend. So, when we did that whole group picture thing, apparently my camera didn't take the picture. Oops! GrnXnham's photo is a great one anyway. I did get the rest of my pictures from the hike posted (sorry, these ended up getting mixed in with the rest of my weekend pictures).
  20. Yep, what JesandTodd said. The email to contact@geocaching.com is the best way to go to schedule a visit to Groundspeak. We do prefer scheduling visits on Fridays at 2pm. It's well worth the visit and we love having geocachers stop by!
  21. Okay thinking done. I'm in! Looks like we might even get some decent weather for the hike.
  22. I might actually be tempted to join for this hike as it's been on the list. I had committed to a CITO, but there seem to be some in other weekends coming up that I can attend to make up for missing this weekend. I will think on it.
  23. I'm hosting my first Seattle event the week of the Block Party! I've ordered some nice weather and I might even be able to find some fire jugglers for entertainment.

    Own Geocoin

More info on minting your own geocoins is available here: Minting Geocoins and Trackables. If you have any questions not answered in those articles, feel free to send an email to geocoins@geocaching.com. Some girl named Annie is likely to respond.
  25. We include a micro cache capsule with the fake rocks on Shop Geocaching so that the log will be in a water proof container. I love finding any type of rock cache container. I remember searching for 45 minutes and coming up empty handed for my first rock cache. It occurred to me later that the HUGE rock that I walked past about 50 times could have been a fake rock. Sure enough when I went back, there was an ammo can under the rock. Talk about feeling stupid.
