  1. AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA!!!! Thanks to you all for your help. Today is day 3 and I am chomping at the bit (so to speak). I am soooooo excited I am going to burst!!! I haven't gotten any reviewer questions so I think everything is great just taking a bit of time, which is fine and dandy! AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA I am soooooooo excited! On another note......................anyone have any hints on Tomisons "Right Guard" geocache? Just kidding!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I will find it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I will......I WILL!!!!!!!
  2. It depends on a number of things. As Starbrand said, three days is the goal but the reviewers have a real world life too. Your location can come into play as well, how many hides do they need to review on a regular basis? Also, a lot also depends on you. Did you leave enough information for the reviewer to easily decide if everything is good? I've only published one cache but after I hid it I spent a few days double checking everything, and included a lot of information in the reviewer notes (i.e. who gave permission with contact info and noted that the email giving permission was available if needed, the type of hide, container, contents, brief description of the area, everything I could think of they might possibly need to know. After I was happy with everything I activated the listing and 3 minutes later it was published. That is exceptional and I don't expect it to ever be that fast again but the point is that you can do a lot to speed up the process yourself, mostly by just helping your reviewer help you. HEREis more information that will help you the next time. I did include a lot of info including names of the people who own the property I placed it on. I am excited. I hope I did everything right! :-)
  3. More then OK, I would consider it a requirment. When you submit the cache for review you are saying it is ready to go. You will be given no advance notice before it is posted and, depending on your area and cache type, chances are an FTF hound will be at your cache as soon as it is posted and I mean as soon as 10 to 15 minutes after posting, day or night, there is no way you would be able to reliably beat them there and place it. Thank you so much! Nice to know I am choosing the right thing to do!!!! I am nervous. :-)
  4. I placed the cache befor submitting it. Is that ok? What I mean is. The geocache is already at its cords. I didn't know how long it could take so I wanted it ready the second it went "live". That is what is expected. The moment it gets published, it is likely that a bunch of cachers will race off to find it. Day or Night. SWEET!!!!!! Thank you so much! I am soooooooo excited!!!

  6. Just wondering how long it takes for a new cache to be published.......................
  7. Wow! Thank You!!!! Ah, thanks for the (DUH) google tip too. :-D
  8. I found a plaque by accident in a historical wetland in Federal Way, Wa. It had Geo-Trek #5 on it and the coordinates of where it stood. It explained there are several plaques in Federal Way and all at historical landmarks and all numbered as part of a trek. Is this part of Geocaching? Or is it totally seperate and a private City of Federal Way thing? It was kinda cool!
  9. If there are already caches on public property do you still have to obtain permission to place one yourself? Like a city park, and such?
  10. Issaguah Alps. My little haven around home. Beautiful.
  11. I look forward to doing the "World Record" series soon! That is soooo cool! Want to get my geolegs firmly set and then I am going to branch out.
  12. Hobart, Washington Home to Taylor Mountain. Great workout trails and nice walk trails here. And what seems to be endless geocaches. Unfortunately not a lot of people know of this wonderful place. You can bike, hike, ride horses, and geocache!!!! I am urging people to look it up and try it out and get some of the TB stuck on this mountain off :-D. I also know for a fact that one of the caches, not saying which one, has a very very very nice bracelett in it. So, let Taylor Mountain be your next experience! :-)
  13. I am thinking about placing my first cache. I was wanting to order a travel coin to put in it for someone to find and activate and make thier own. But when you order there is an activation code and everything is in the "customer" name. Is there a way to order one and put it in a cache but not activate it myself or have me as the owner?
  14. It helps when I have geoson or geodog with me because then I can just say we needed to get out of the car, or when you gotta go, you gotta go. I have used I lost my keys, son dropped his toy, etc. And yes, yes. When getting caught in the act, which happened once and I almost go escorted away by campus security, I explained geocaching. :-)
  15. I would have to say "Lost in the Woods". It was a fun find that took forever because of the very very clever placement!!! The fact that my hubby was with me and actually made the find was even better!

  17. OH, sorry. They are both cachers. For many years and many finds and caches of thier own. Guess I should have stated that.
  18. I have just started also and am learning as I go. I have a manual but I don't understand all those technical words and phrases. So, I learned how to reset my GPS so no matter how much I play with it I can go back to the beginning. Then I just started messing with the different screen and buttons and messed things up a lot but RESET and I am ok again. I still have no clue how to do more then basic searching of a cache.
  19. Well you could ask the bug owner if that is what they want, or you could not worry about it and drop it in a cache. If there is a cache close to a highway by you that goes to that state drop it there and wish it well. Hmmmmm, interesting. . . . hubby said ask owner also. OK. I will!
  20. I have a travel bug that wants to get to a specific state that I DO NOT live in or close to. I have a friend who lives close to the TB destination (within hours). The TB has 4 months to get there before owner tries to pick it back up. Question is. . . . . is it "cheating" for me to send (by mail) the TB to my friend so it can be close to its destination. Or, do I drop it in another cache and hope it gets there :-)
  21. Thank you to everyone! No it is not a trackable wooden coin. Just a signature. One more lesson learned!! I think it is really cool and I have seen 3 more so I think I will hold onto this one. :-)
  22. Found a "Proud To Be An American, Land of the Free" wooden geocoin. Set out by the McMorrows. There is no web site other then the geocaching listed and no tracking number. I looked through the geocoin designs and tried to search both the McMorrows and Proud to be an American but I cannot find it to log it. What should I do?
