  3. lately when i start my iphone app it doesnt find my location. I see the purple arrow above (usually) and the accuracy just says 0 feet. Usually it says 55-250 accuracy and lately no matter how long i wait or reopen the app it doesnt find my location, any suggestions?
  4. i am coming home for the holidays in these two areas and am wondering if there are some good areas with some unique fun caches that not your average lamp skirt or tube in a bush... let me know, thanks guys Fox_Trot
  5. i went out for a long day yesterday and the first log i tried to submit (found) said try again later. I continued on and the rest of the day it said the same thing. It stored my found logs in the pending section. I came home to see that all my logs had been submitted on the website and my phone still shows pending. Also i think because i tried to submit all the logs several times i know see that the first cache i found for the day it shows i found it multi times. Any suggestions or help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks Chris
  6. can someone please descibe what a Letterboxing stamp is? On letterbox hides it says to sign one log or if you have a letterboxing stamp use the other log...
  7. i plan on placing a night cache using trail tacks and my question is this. I know in a multi cache any of your stages cannot be within .10 miles from another cache but what about a night cache like this? Is it just the start and finish locations that cannot be or anywhere in between? thanks guys..
  8. So i was wondering what the real purpose of some containers are. What are bison tubes and nanos real purpose used for? who makes them? thanks guys!
  9. So i recently placed a cache, it was published yesterday. There is a big FTF group down in the area and i heard that there were about 8 cachers who went out and looked for it when it was published. Some were there for quite some time, no one found it I temporary disabled the cache and went out to check on it. IT IS there but my coordinates were off by 60 feet. Now i dont know if its because i mistyped a 6 instead of a 7 or i just didnt quadruple check before i published. I feel really bad about this, ive placed 6 caches before this and they were all spot on and when i went out to check these w/ my GPS before i checked it my GPS said it was spot on but it was obviously jumping due to tree cover. Any ideas/advice on how i should go about this when i enable it again? I know i messed up but this is not why im posting this, i am asking for what you would do, thanks Fox_Trot
  10. So if i want to go check on my cache and temporary take it off i would imagine i click the "temporary disable" the cache.... if i do do that how do you put it back up? but lets just say you wanted to disable the cache all together? i didnt see that anywhere.
  11. I've been working since 10 in the morning on cache review work and forum moderating tasks. I'm still not caught up. I would rather be out geocaching, but now it looks like that will have to wait until tomorrow. Please write to your own cache reviewer - that is why there are well over 100 of us. Your local reviewer knows the local placement rules and customs. Better yet, write to the owner of the new cache. If it's a puzzle cache, the posted coordinates are irrelevant and the actual cache can be up to 2 miles away. Better yet, solve and find the cache. good idea, thanks
  12. i dont want to go set up the cache to just have it be too close, i think any cache reviewer should be able to help me on this, not just the local one
  13. So ive been working on setting up a multi cache for a while now and i finally got up today to go do it. And what happens, i get a notification of a new cache in the area, and what do you know right by my future cache ive been planning. So i normally could just check to see what the distance is but its a mystery and a 5 star mystery at that. So i know from the bogus coordinates that they list for the mystery cache all my way points on my multi are far enough away but i do not know where the real cache is located for this mystery. If someone can PM me ill send my coordinates and the cache i am concerned about... thanks!
  14. also do you guys think a simple matchstick tube for the final container would be a lil lame? I just think that has the best chance of not being seen up in the tree and its also the easiest to attach a rope to unless i found something with a handle... any ideas on a final container that would be SUPER cheap?
  15. i plan on doing a simple version of this and if people enjoy it make a harder version later on after i see how this works out. The ropes that are needed to get the final are only 2 ropes and they are found at stage one in two different trees next to each other. I am going to laminate typed out coordinates punch a hole through them and attach them to the carabiner on each rope. Each paper though is only going to contain one part of the coords (one being the N and the other the W) so you would need both in order to figure out where the last/next stage is. I appreciate a bunch of all your ideas and comments, thats what i was looking for. I realy like the big rock idea because there is spots where i can put the rock and the cache container is VERY small. Also, many said that they might not return the ropes? well i hope so and i put the first stages not far from the last stage so they would put them back. There is a big FTF group here also so maybe not publish it till the wee hours of the morning?
  16. id just like to look it up on the map feature on the site...
  17. im in the process of making a cache similar to the one in this picture. Its a multi that you find a series of ropes that all attach with clips to each other to make one long rope. you take the long rope to the final destination and clip it to the clip thats in the final's tree and it lowers the cache from really high above to the ground. Now the question i have is this. In the picture the clip is sttached to a rope that is wrapped around the tree. I need a way to attach my clip to something. This is going to be UP in a tree, not around a tree trunk. Now ideally a nail in the tree would be perfect but i know thats not possible. The reason i dont want to wrap the rope around like this picture is that i do not want it to be seen unless you were up in the tree which is what the cache is all about. (getting in the tree) If you still dont have an idea what im talking about just imagine this picture flipped on its side... you wouldnt be able to see anything from the bottom expect this rope that goes around it, now how can i attach the clip to something without wrapping a rope around? i know this is a bit confusing but i figured id try my luck asking you guys... thanks

    Hello!

welcome welcome to this addicting hobby
  19. i know you need to be .10 miles away from other caches but if you start your first spot on the multi your doing, can the others be less then .10 away? ive done some that are and some that arent....
  20. So when using an HTML on your cache information you need to click the enable button.... well when i do this it works as far as the HTML is concerned but all the spaces in between paragraphs are gone, it makes it one large large LARGE paragraph... any trick to this?
  21. i tried evince but they got ride of the 3 different ways to enter cords, anyone know of anything?
