You will want to write your user name so if the cache owner ever checks the online logs against the signatures in the logbook, they can tell who was there.
I sign the log book: Steve (and/or) Diane (and/or Nikki) / Team LPD

Had a good time snowshoeing today, was quite fun! Hey, the website is up, http://www.nepageocachers.org, check it out. I will be working on it today, tomorrow. But for now its operational as it was, with some additions to the back end, which will be apparent from the front end soon.
Bookmarked the site. Looks good.

Snow doesn't scare me Though I don't have any proper gear, but, nothing I couldnt quickly get or make myself, hehe. Now where did I put those old tennis rackets... rofl
I don't think trudging through 10-14" of snow would be a fun event. Like WBFD said, there will be other days. The area is SGL, however I hunt back in there and build small fires to warm up all the time so I don't think anyone will give us a problem.
Actually, there is a rather nice area between the two caches, down by the stream that would be perfect for a little campfire lunch, etc. There is a campfire ring already there, plus a few places to sit, etc. We could do something between caches, or better yet after both are done.

Lots of people are watching this thread & I was planning on having an event cache this Sunday. Only prob. is that you have to have an event planned 2 weeks in advance. How about some of the NEPA cachers meet at the parking coords (41 12.525 075 47.359) for a hike to the following caches on Sunday, March 18th @ 8 in the morning? Reply here is your up for it.
I know a lot of people have done these caches, but at least it's a start to put some caching names with faces. Hopefully we'll meet some newbie cachers and recognize some of our caching buddies. We hope to see you there!!!
Well, since one of those the above caches is mine I'll try and make the shin-dig if possible.

The 60csx compass is indeed kinda a pain and needs to be calibrated after every powerup in order to display your direction correctly when you're moving at foot speed.
As for difficult to calibrate, no not at all. It is quick and easy -- just annoying to remember to do it.
You do need to buy CN but the Garmin topos are so-so. Better than nothing, but not great. You can build your own topos (see thread in this board about it), but they won't have as much meta-data (roads, trails, towns, etc).
I have a 60CSx and only have to recalibrate the compass when I change batteries, not turn it on, so it really is no big deal. One thing I found out about the altimeter is there is no way to disable it if you are in an airplane and want to track elevation. I was hoping just for the fun of it to track the elevation on a commercial flight but this is not possible since the cabin is pressurized.
Never have to re-calibrate the compass on my 60CSx unless I change the batteries either.

In our other geomobile, a Nissan pick up truck I mounted one of the cell phone mounts pictured above my post. Works quite well.

This is what I use for my 60CSX in my Jeep Grand Cherokee. I took the regular mount and using heavy duty velcro, put one piece on the bottom of the mount and the opposite piece on the inner portion of the dash as shown. I've been using it all year without any problems. The only minor problem is going over a big bounce which causes the mount to fall down a couple of clicks, even though it is "locked". I just lift it back in place and keep on Jeepin!

Welcome to NEPA and geocaching. There are lots of great caches in and around the surrounding area.

Bought the following from PC-Mobile.
The AA battery extender cost $7.95
And the Palm connector cost $8.50

I just bought a new battery to replace the one in my P-515. I also bought one of those external battery power sources for my Palm when I'm out in the bush all day. I have the car charger but the power pack takes 4-AA batteries and should come in handy.

Make sure your Hot Sync is active on your PC. If I have to re-start my PC for whatever reason, once its booted up I have to go into "programs" , right click on "hot sync manager" and then click "run". After a few seconds the hot sync icon will be in the lower right tray on my PC. I can then hit the sync button on my PDA cradle and ta-da......everything loads.

I had used an small, old back pack but I recently bought one of these Jumbo Versipack. Lots of room, pockets, etc. The pistola doesn't come with it though

I wa flipping through the Cheaper Than Dirt catalog and they had the .30 cal boxes for $3.99 I think.

I bought a used Palm 515 off of ebay last year for about $20....works great!

When I used an Etrex, I bought an adapter from Wal-Mart for something like $20.00. Worked perfect.

It's extremely easy to do all that you've mentioned on a 60CSx via GSAK.
How did you get yours to do that?
-
I have the 60CSX with lots of CN and Topo loaded onto a 1 gig microSD card. Works fine for me.

Doesn't any one read the manuals any more?
Read the manual? That takes the fun, challange, and adventure out of it. If someone is smart enough to build this thing, I should be at lest smart enough to figure out how to work it.
LOL........
