  1. Well your avatar does have you fondling one of your balls J
  2. Check out Pocket GPS for some good reviews of the various SAT Nav units. Cheers J
  3. >Should I Find A New Hobby?! By your own admission, you probably wouldn't be able to find one J
  4. this one used the U-Bend part from a sink. The two pipeways were sealed shut and the inspection cap used as the access method. It fitted very snugly with an O-ring - contents bone dry! The outside of it was a bit slimey, but no more grotty that some of the lunch box/plastic bag caches I've found in the undergrowth above water level! I was just curious if any other existed as live caches? Cheers J
  5. Hi folks, Did a cache near Market Harborough yesterday that turned out to be an underwater one had to be pulled out of a canal on the end of a long chain and had a dive weight attached to it. Really neat hiding place and I was wondering if there are any more underwater ones about? Cheers Jon.
  6. Goto TRACK TRAVEL BUGS, then ADVANCED SEARCH, then in the keyword box type VIRTUAL... should keep you busy for a while! Cheers J ** WARNING ** This could seriously damage your enjoyment of the sport. Remember your integrity is at risk if you fail to find the cache in the real world.
  7. Yup... If you wish to participate in the virtual hunt, go to the TB's page and see what cache it is in, then go to the cache and retrieve the virtual bug using the code that is usually published on the TB's home page. Then drop it wherever you like from the comfort of you arm chair.... Exciting stuff eh? J
  8. You won't, they do not exist in the real world, they are virtual. You have to free your mind J
  9. Doh... Scrap that last question - found the delete button after going into EDIT and yeah, the icon disappears with the log! I feel cleansed! Thanks Jon
  10. Hi Hancock Clan, I agree with you - I logged my first virtual the other day, it was the EU coin, and doing it felt a bit like cheating - I'd like to reverse my actions and delete the logs & icon, but can't see how you do that? Is it something I can do, or do I have to contact Moote to remove it, and I assume removing the log does delete the Icon as well? TIA, J
  11. Maybe it's broken too? "Go to Red Alert" "sir are you absolutely sure - it does mean changing the bulb" J
  12. Strewth.... I only said it were broke!
  13. Tom Tom & Navman both support POI's... Points of Interest. Basically a text file database of Lat/Long co-ords and a short text description. You can download the whole of the UK's geocaches from G:UK and import them as a POI. It is then easy to see Geocaches on the screen, search for your nearest from any point, and navigate by road to the nearest point to each one. I use a Navman 510 with all the UK's Geocaches & Trig points loaded. Very handy for navigating to cache & trig locations, although not fool proof! It's still possible to find a car park just a few hundred meters from a cache only to find a river, railway line, etc... between you and it! Stay cool J
  14. Gonna peel mine and eat the chocolate inside J
  15. Hmm... Fancy dress caching.... Theres an idea! Plus being nearly Halloween, quite topical too! J
  16. Thanks for that... I think I should be ok then. Although the pictures I've uploaded were of the Micro locations, they were purposely not specific... I.E. A Gate, a Tree, all could be anywhere (no landmarks included) and I put them in as lo-res (320x240) images so it's not possible to zoom in and read text on plaques, signs etc... What made me think there may be a problem is I've noticed on some caches, when i look in the gallery at the thumbnail pictures, when I click on them to see them in full I'm just returned to the main cache page - as if the cache owner had removed the link? Or is it just the pictures are no longer on geocaching.com? Cheers & thanks again for the info! J
  17. Hi folks, What are your views about including photos of multi cache locations in the log of your find? I did a couple of caches at the weekend (including Hills & Holes, GCEA49) and after logging them and uploading pictures I suddenly realised that although the pictures were not detailed, they did give an idea of the locations of the micro caches I solved. I know there is a disclaimer on the GC site that the pictures may include spoilers, but wondered if there were any un-written rules about including them? Thanks Jon.
  18. "Fail" is such a negative word - Did not find sounds much better Yes, I believe all attempted finds should be logged, even those where you were unable to complete through no fault of your own - I.E. Change in weather, Getting dark, Children starting to moan, Floods, Passed a welcoming Pub. I've found it helps also, because you can get advice from other cachers that have completed the cache in question and are 'watching' it. This added encouragement helps hugely in getting it found on the next attempt (or maybe the one after that!) J
  19. If I'm not doing well in my seach (so in a bit of a mood) and am asked about what I am up to, I reply i'm from the local planning office, doing a route survey for the new bypass...
  20. If you have a Palm Pilot then MIMEE should be able to do it for you. Cheers Jon
  21. Mine all just arrived - however for some reason Yahoo SPAMGUARD has decided they are all SPAM and dumped them in my SPAM folder, so just recovered them. If you've not got yours, check your SPAM Jon
