  1. No. Many owners delete logs that are not entirely complimentary of their caches. This is a way to let others know they suck without having your log deleted. I disagree. Saying your cache sucks by either typing exactly that or by typing DPM is still saying the cache sucks. One of our caches, now archived, had DPM at the end of one of the logs. Well, I had no idea what it meant, and had to search the forums and ask other cachers of they knew what it meant. When I finally found out what it did mean, it made me angry that the poster had to hide behind some acronym. It may be just me, but I found it more insulting that they just couldn't come out and say what they thought. The person who logged that emailed me and apologized for posting the DPM however. I explained to him not to feel bad, everyone's opinion is valid, no hard feelings. We NEVER delete finds based on what someone posts, negative or positive. They found the cache, end of story, they deserve to be credited with a find. Whether or not they liked it or not has no bearing on that. Not cool to delete someones legitimate find just because they wrote negative comments. Say what you mean, don't beat around the bush. I promise not to delete your finds. []
  2. Why not just have the guts (I'd use another word, but don't want to get a warning) to say, "I did not like the cache"? IMO, that is better than hiding behind some made up acronym. Better to be upfront, no?
  3. Apologies to those who have read this before. My wife and I were married on the summit of Bear Mt. in CT on 10/12/01. As I was standing with my best man waiting to walk into the clearing where we we were going to be married, he noticed something in one of the scrub trees. He discovered it was a large tupperware container with some "stuff" in it. At first we thought a hiker had hidden some gear, but after finding the welcome note we soon realized it was some sort of game. The cache had a camera in it, so we snapped a few pictures of the ceremony and signed the log. After returning from our honeymoon, we checked out the website and discovered that there were a couple of Geocaches near us. We found them without using a GPS, then used an REI gift certificate someone had given us for a wedding gift to by our first GPS, a Garmin Etrex. Here we are 2 and 1/2 years and 469 caches later. TOTALLY addicted! The Geo-gods gave us quite the wedding gift that day. Unfortunately, the cache we found has since been plundered and archived, but currently there is one on the summit of Bear Mt. that is literally 20 feet from where our ceremony was!
  4. How can I get a map from just coordinates? I did try searching the forums, but had no luck. Thanks!
  5. Consider this your official invite then. Anyone who knows where to get Decon boxes is OK in my book!
  6. Haven't seen the Geocaching.com micro stone containers available for sale in a while. They were listed as "on back order" for a bit, but now are not lsted at all. Anyone know if there will be any more made available?
  7. What's a Morgan? Morgan Silver Dollar. Magoo's Missing Morgan
  8. Way to go Dave, it's a great feeling to get that FTF! Was there a Morgan in this one too?
  9. Just got the coins in the mail yesterday, they are great!! Thanks again, Bob!! We will be putting one in our "Schnuffles Saugatuck Valley Stomp" cache over the weekend to try to entice some cachers to look for our least searched, but best (IMHO) cache.
  10. Well, keep your eye out for some in local caches. I purchased a few and expect them to be in sometime this week. I was hoping to get them in time for the event this past weekend, but it wasn't to be...
  11. Congrats Mopar! Happiest of Happy Birthdays to you!!
  12. Have you broken the news to Mopar yet? ROFLMAO!! Har-dee-har-har! Sheesh! I guess a girl can't catch a break. Just having some fun with 'ya!
  13. Have you broken the news to Mopar yet? ROFLMAO!!
  14. Saw "TFTC" at the end of a log entry. Anyone know what that means??
  15. I dunno Mopar, Carol is due on 04/19, so that might be a bit too early.... Although, Steak, Mmmmmmm!!
  16. Accountant for an international shipping (Ocean Tankers) company. 9-5. Zzzzzzzzzzzzz... Mrs. Tramper is also an accountant 9-5. I know, now everyone thinks of us as the most boring couple ever! Tom and Tim (the other two Trampers) are both carpenters. I'll go caching anytime of day or night if free, although lately it seems like a lot of my hunts are early morning. (pre-dawn)
  17. Now that is pretty cool... how much and where do you get something like this? Picked up three of them on Ebay for around $6.00 each.
