  1. Keystone..... That was the exact information i was looking for as to what to do after you find someone.....thank you to the other two posts also and appreciate the help. Joe
  2. I will be moving soon from Reading Pa to Arizona and i have a really nice cache up in Penn Mt just outside of Reading Pa called "Babbling Brook" http://www.geocaching.com/seek/cache_details.aspx?guid=edd0fad7-f07f-491a-8c62-ec84a0c656d6# .....and it's really a nice one and would like someone to continue with the ownership of this cache but i just don't know how to go about it. Any help on what to do would be appreciated. Joe (wrkn2mch)
  3. That's a pretty good price.... I saved the link Thanks, Joe
  4. Wow.... I could never figure out how to get an email to go to my test message instead where i would get to it faster. I tried sending it the way described in the links above for SMS and it got to me in about forty five seconds after i emailed it from my home computer to my text screen on my phone. thanks for those links as it will help me in other things like iphone apps that only mail your location to an email address.....now if i get hurt out in the field my emergency app will contact those via text message with my location instead of an email. Cool Thanks Joe
  5. Happy Birthday Everyone in February (myself included LOL) With about 25 hours of battery time i don't think i'm getting rid of my Vista HCx anytime soon. I team that up with the iphone for a good satellite view and cache locations via geocaching app and then put it in sleep mode to save batteries (battery life stinks on iPhones) Did Caches all day in Arizona on my birthday as a present to Me..... back to snow in 10 days Joe
  6. Here is how you delete specific items or all at once for the CSX: select find>select Waypoints (it has found, unfound, parking, etc. icons)>select menu>scroll to delete and hit enter>choose the icon you want to delete or select All Symbols> hit enter Everything you have selected will be deleted from your unit. I have an iphone that i am fairly new to and use it to drive to and see the terrain but in the final i use my Vista Hcx to get right in. Are you saying i can find the cache on my iphone and then somehow transfer it to my Vista Gps?_____ or do it manually entering the co-ordinates into the Vista like i am doing now?_____ That would be a neat trick but i don't see that anywhere on the phone to do it. Joe No, you will have to manually enter in the coordinates into your GPS. It's just nice to be able to pull up current information with the iPhone. That's what i am doing now entering them manually while out on the road.... really great for finding whats around you and to also look at it in satellite view to see the terrain..... but the vista gets me closer in the final leg..... thanks for the quick response. Joe

  9. If someone was going to keep a travel bug and not move it along i would think that they would not even register it online and just take it. The poor guy that registers online and then places it takes the heat sometimes i guess. Joe
  10. I have a vista and really like it alot...... I think you will too. My Birthday just passed Feb 10 and a Happy Birthday to You Joe
  11. I'm just outside of Reading Pa and spring is in Arizona..... Anybody want to trade places Joe
  12. I never knew that..... If true it makes lots of sense. Joe
  13. Call UPS and tell them the same thing you told us......they may just ship it Joe
  14. I can't find a link for it but wal mart in the sporting goods camping section has stick match holders (orange which i paint to the color of my choice) which have a rubber "O" ring in the lid and stand up very well to the elements is about 1-1/2" long by about 3/4" wide and i've held it under water and does not leak ...... they go for about $1.00 apiece and work really well..... good for log and pencil only.... Joe
  15. Berks County ..... Just Outside of Reading near Antietam Lake Joe
  16. But did you list all of those in the "My Devices" side of your GC.com account profile? http://www.geocaching.com/account/default.aspx No..... Only the Garmin which throws those earlier mentioned stats way off as i am sure others have done the same Think i'll update it now Joe
  17. I have an iphone a Meridian Gold and a Garmin vista HCx...... This is just my personal opinion and not stating facts for anyone but myself but i got the iphone for the ability to install the geocaching app so that i can find a close by Cache without having to go back to the computer. I then transfer those waypoint to either my garmin or meridian which are both equally as accurate.... the only difference between those two is the garmin has a better map and the meridian is just a blank screen with a cursor of where i am at (no map installed ...map not needed for me in the woods i just open my eyes and look around) sometimes the old meridian gold even gets me closer...... but the iphone can't compare to me to a dedicated gps (whatever brand) iphone tells me what cache's are near me ...... dedicated gps gets me there. That It Joe
  18. I have a Garmin Vista HCx and an iphone ....while the iphone will do it can't compare to the Garmin for me. but the good thing about the iphone is i have the geocaching.com app in it and use it to locate what cache's are around me (an invaluable tool) Joe
  19. Everybody is different but i use the compass until i get very close and then say the last 100 feet i shut the compass off because it bounces around way too much for me when standing still at the final destination. Joe
  20. The weirdest one i seen was when i was out in Arizona..... There was an old Ironwood Tree with old burly Lookin Bark all by itself and they had a Micro tucked in a little hole in the tree ( not drilled....just a hole that was there) with a piece of tree bark to cover it up......This one always stuck in my mind and may do one here in Pennsylvania.....It took me at least 10 tries to find this one. Joe
  21. Hi Jim The pictures are fantastic......... over the last three years i talk of doing the same trip as you did but never actually saw pictures of it and i can't thank you enough. Having lived in Arizona and now Pennsylvania i really miss the desert. Wonder if my vista Hcx could take the same kind of dunking Joe
  22. I wear a Ruger LCP .380 in my back pocket with the help of a pocket holster..... with the shape of the holster it looks like a wallet back there and if you where to talk to me you would never know i carry ( I have a CCW) I want nobody to feel uncomfortable......... Works for me
  23. Nice Price and with maps to boot!...... wish i saw this before i bought my vista for $216 at wally world
  24. I chose the "Garmin Vista HCX" my price was around $200 like yours and unit does not let me down.....very happy with it. The garmin 60csx is also a good pick but costs more. Having the SD Card is a big plus
