  1. Hi all, I'm moving out of the South Oxfordshire/Watchfield area, and my three "Force 10" caches are up for adoption. Would anyone like to take them over? I've never done this before, so don't know what the adoption process is.
  2. OK, I have now found a Filter section in my e-mail interface. It's not immediately obvious how to get to it (that's my excuse), and when I disabled the Blocked Senders filter a test e-mail got through. I now need to look through the list of Blocked Senders and find, I think, the Geocaching.com e-mail address. I think I must have added it to my Blocked Senders addresses by mistake. Mea culpa!!!
  3. Further to my previous message, the new TalkTalk e-mail interface does have editable spam filters, but my older Tiscali interface doesn't. How might I get round this?
  4. In my TalkTalk e-mail account, (previously Tiscali), there's no option to set a Spam filter - unless I have gone blind*. It looks like Spam removal happens prior to my Inbox; they don't go into a Spam folder. There is one, but nothing ever goes into it. There's a Trash folder that's only for messages I have deleted; nothing goes in there automatically. * UK Tiscali users please tell me if I am wrong! Ideas?
  5. I used to get notification e-mails when someone found my caches or when there was a problem with them, etc. For example, one of my caches has a "needs maintenance" flag, but I go no e-mail about it. I also used to get copies of messages I had sent to other cachers. I'm now getting nothing, even though the relevant box is checked. There's nothing in my "Spam" or "Junk" folder, and it also doesn't have an "Approved sender" option, so I can't sort it out that way. Anyone got any ideas?
  6. Hi all, I'm on holiday in SA in Sept/Oct visiting the Western Cape & Garden Route. Are there any routable SA maps out there like the wonderful Talkytoaster UK ones? Cheers, Derek
  7. Hi, Like yours it's an older Belkin, and for mine there are no software updates to be had. Like my PVR it's gone past the time where updates are available. With respect to e-mailing them, Belkin may argue that the router wasn't designed for newer software or web browsers, and that is is performing within spec, but it's worth a try anyway. Let me know how you get on! Back to caching for me. I hadn't realised just how vital having the maps was.
  8. I now know why tracert was vanishing. It's because I ran it as a direct command in the run box rather than opening a CMD window. Opening a CMD window works. Don't know what tracert results mean though... I too have a Belkin router. I tried to disable the firewall and it simply hung, then gives me a page saying that, "The server sent no data". However, despite this message it actually has disabled the firewall, and "lo and behold" the maps are now working! The question is, should I now enable the router firewall again? It seems to me that it's a problem with the updates to the geocaching.com website, and not a problem with the router. Logically there is something about the website that the firewall doesn't like?
  9. Glad K9 crew is Ok now, but I'm not. I tried the tracert thing, but as soon as it completes the window disappears so I can't copy and paste it! Ideas? K9 Crew's fix: Is it a good idea to run without a firewall?
  10. "This is a JavaScript error that is specific to IE. We have identified the issue and will be correcting it. In the meantime, you can use another browser as a work-around." I would politely disagree that it's only IE related. I use Firefox and Chrome and it doesn't work on either. I don't use IE.
  11. Downloaded CCleaner and ran it. Made no difference whatsoever, other than deleting my login cookies and map preferences... Still no caches showing on maps. What next?
  12. Bit more info... I'm using Windows 7, but the caches also don't show up on my Android tablet running ICS. That's looking at the main website on my tablet, not using the Geocaching app.
  13. Done the clearing thing and a hard refresh, but still not working this morning.
  14. Maps not working for me either. Map appears but no caches come up. Map is zoom-able and pan-able, but it just sits there waiting for a response from geocaching.com. Same in Firefox and Chrome. I think that The K9 Crew are based in the UK*, as I am. Is it a UK specific issue? * Just a few miles away I think.
  15. Congrats to me for finding my 500th cache yesterday, plus my most finds in a month: and it's still only the 21st! Sadly I didn't notice the 500 caches geocoin in one of the series I did yesterday! Ho hum.
  16. I'm UK based and am coming to Portugal, for a holiday, in late September. I'm looking for a site that has a routable GPS map of Portugal for my Garmin GPSmap 62s. Ideally it would be already compiled so I can just download it and install on to my GPSr. Sadly I do not speak Portuguese... Thanks for your help.
  17. Thanks for the rapid advice & good news. As far as I know, the cache is still there. I hope to be one of the fewer than 2 dozen folks who have found it in the years it's been live. Cheers.
  18. I'm in the UK, and have just worked out the co-ords for a very, very complicated puzzle cache near me. It was last found over a year ago, 'cos it's very, very, hard to solve. It involves lots of on-site research, online research, cracking clues written in a WW1 German cipher, and then doing more research! Solving it has involved a lot of work and time on my part, and some help from others. I finally worked out the cache co-ords on Sunday, but the weather was so bad I couldn't go to the location. Since Sunday the cache has been archived!!! The cache owner moved out of the area a while ago, hasn't been able to maintain it, and an intermediate cache has vanished leaving seekers having to e-mail the cache owner for information. I can get to the archived page, but was wondering if the system will let me log the find when (if) I finally get the cache? It looks as if I can, but I haven't tried, 'cos I haven't yet actually found the cache. I would like to put all my work (and the much appreciated help of others) to good use!
  19. Now posted this in the UK Car Boot Sale... Moderator, please delete this post if required. Hi, I've upgraded to paperless so my trusty Etrex Vista HCx is for sale. It's got the box, manual, lead, etc., and there's also a Garmin neoprene case and a 2Gb micro SD card. I'll throw in the 2 Camlink Eneloop-alike batteries that are in it as well. It's loaded with a fairly recent copy of the talkytoaster UK map set. Looking for £100, plus postage if you can't collect. I'm in South Oxfordshire, UK
  20. I've got a shiny new GPSMAP 62s and want to add my personal contact info to it. My Vista HCx had an option to add info so that it came up on the boot up screen. You added the info via the "Welcome" option in the "Setup" menu. There does not seem to be a way to do this with the 62s, or am I just being stupid? Cheers eaglegale
  21. Another vote for these maps on a Garmin GPSMAP62s. New unit arrived yesterday, and I put the Micro SD card from my Vista HCX into it. Maps worked a treat. Thanks. Derek Added 17th Dec.. Now tried it without the SD card and copied the downloaded map to the 62s using the mass storage option. Just dropped GMAPSUPP.IMG file into the Garmin folder on the 62s. Also works well.
