  1. Yeah. We've seen your name around but have never caught up with you. We've got a pretty good thing going down here in Warren County, TN. 200+ caches within 15 miles of downtown of ALL sizes, shapes, and difficulties. Hope to see you around!
  2. jeffbouldin: We've found all of the caches there except for Caverat's Piney Falls one. We've considered having an event up there or at Rock Island. You need to make the trip down 24 for one of our upcoming caches after you teach your event!!
  3. No Mr. Yuck, I was kinda feeling weird hosting an event where we would not know a soul until the event starts. I do think the suggestion of contacting a couple of the local cachers is a good idea. I know that where we live this would be very welcome but we don't have a lot of tourist attention either. Thanks for the input and keep it coming!
  4. What is everyone's opinion of having an event cache when you're on vacation? We're headed to Pigeon Forge the last week of May and thought it might be fun to meet some of the local people there one night for supper. Pros/cons etc. are very welcome. Thanks.
  5. Use all of these ideas (unique containers, large containers, night caches, different types, etc.) and put them in a SHAPE! We've been looking at all of the smiley faces, signal heads, airplanes, etc. but none are close enough to us. Maybe something unique for your area, high school mascot, local industry, whatever.
  6. To the poster about the original container: I know it's moot because this one's gone, but the original container makes a HUGE difference. We've found a few 10 year old caches, but only one in original container with original logbook, Hawg. There were printouts in there from the SecondToFind back in 2001 with rust stains on them. Definitely a priceless find. With that said, I think the history of geocaching for all of us who have picked it up in the last couple of years should be preserved. It sounds like that is the direction it's going for Mingo and that is a good thing.
  7. What is everyone's opinion of releasing a homemade card to replace any trackables that have been missing for awhile or are verified destroyed? I'm not talking about multiple trackables in circulation for the same number, but an actual replacement for one that is gone. All opinions are welcome.
  8. Thank you. That is exactly what I was looking for.
  9. I looked these up a while ago and can't remember where I found a good bookmark list of these. Geocaches that actually travel from one cache to another, I think they predated travel bugs. Does anyone have a bookmark list to share with me? I searched the forums, but you all know how that goes.... Thanks for any help.
  10. http://coord.info/GC1CTX7 We've found a couple of these. They are at Firehouse Subs. Technically, I guess that name is in the cache title. Maybe use another language (Italian) for the title....
  11. Worst container we've EVER found! 900 caches and this one wins.
  12. I saw that one, but our 6 year old has a basketball game at 9. We're hosting one next weekend in McMinnville, I don't think you've come through and cleaned out all of the new caches around town. Spend all day caching and finish it at out event at 4. Sounds like that cache will work. We're teachers, so we can maybe go on a day off. Trying to get our last 100 before February 2012, our 2 year caching anniversary. We're also planning on getting a lot of those in Smyrna, we've noticed the saturation around Sam Ridley.
  13. That one is on my bookmark list of possibilities. Will the tunnel fit an F150? How deep is the water at the CZ? Thanks.
  14. Hey all, we're a caching family in Middle Tennessee. We don't mind traveling a little, so now we need some help. We want our #1000 cache to be one of our best. We are two 30-something parents with a 6 year old and 2 year old. We want all of us to be present at the find, so no crazy terrain. And go with suggestions!
  15. The one I was talking about, the whole building is the cache. There's a table with logbook and all of the HUGE travel bugs are laying around inside the building. There's a lock on the door, combination on the cache page. It was really neat. We've been looking for an abandoned building around here so we could do something similar honestly.
  16. We found one that was like that: http://coord.info/GC1R6A7 It had a bass drum and other VERY large TBs in it.
  17. I have logged all of my owned events as attended. The way I look at it is: owning is the prep/cleanup for the event. Attending is the actual event. Besides, who's going to delete my log if they have a problem with it??
  18. Sock puppet with intent to keep all found coins of an actual account.
  19. Maze... meh. NO swag or souvenirs in the shop. Caches in Nashville... A+!! The aforementioned Geo MoJo cache is awesome. We looked for an hour and a half, in the rain, to get our smiley. The Fort Negley caches are good and within walking distance. Don't take shortcuts off the trail. I did and was covered with beggar's lice and saw two black snakes and a rattlesnake. Stay on the trail and boardwalks. At the Fort Negley office, there's a Dinosaur Train cache. And yes, go to Broadway. There's a Margaritaville, Joe's Crab Shack, and a whole lot of other really nice restaurants. Also, the Ryman Auditorium and you can just walk across the river to that GeoMojo cache. Any caches by JoGPS around Nashville are worth your time!
  20. It stinks this one's gone. I know when we found Hawg (GC1D0), second oldest in Tennessee, the real thrill was the original container and logbook being there after 10 whole years!! Gotta replace and fight against these thieves!
  21. 10-20, I disagree, but understand. The last guy to log that event cache did so 500+ times!!!! I don't understand someone that is soooo into the numbers side of things to do that. I thought gc'ing was about getting out and finding stuff, not logging finds for HOURS!! Oh well, that is why this is an individual activity. Advice from someone earlier in my gc'ing life: "What someone else does in no way affects your geocaching experience." But, if they're deleting your logs, I guess it does!
  22. Here's one: I formed an account and bought a trackable for my mother-in-law to get her interested since we have a cache on her property. Her selected goal was to make it to Mt. Rushmore from our home in Tennessee. After a couple of short trips, it had made it to Nevada, now north... right? WRONG! That one is now in SWITZERLAND!!!!! I don't think there is a Mt. Rushmore there!
  23. It is a state/government law. Sucks, but hey we have some really dumb politicians in our state capitol... (I'm a teacher). There have been some placed in the area that are just over the 1/10 mile the law requires away. Just not the same. Thanks, guys.
  24. Thanks so far. One note: doesn't matter about the manager, no caching in cemeteries in TN.
