  2. I recently purchased a Dakota 20 (have a 10 already) and when I go to change my profiles, all my profiles are in a different language even though my unit is set to English. I have set my language a few times and updated the firmware to the newest 3.7. Anyone have any other ideas?
You're not the first to report this, and it's also been seen on the Oregon. There was a thread on this a while back here ->http://forums.Groundspeak.com/GC/index.php?showtopic=245901 but I did not ever see anyone comment back after attempting the Master Reset.

I also wondered if anyone had attempted to rename the "Text" folder to something like "TextOld" to hide the possible translation from English to something else and see what happened. Never did see anyone try it.

I ended up going into the Garmin\profile dir. and just google translating them and renaming. Most of the were Arabic and Czech

  4. Actually all I wanted to know is if anyone knew what the voltage range was for the 60CX through the battery connection. My old unit had a broad range, just wanted to know what the 60Cx was. I know higher voltage will kill it if it isn't designed for it, I'm not stupid people.

The answer, is no, it will not accept higher voltage. In fact, using new, normal Lithium batteries will cause these particular units to crash on bootup as the voltage is too high.

Just use Ni-MH. Easy to find and have a long battery life.

I know, I have some NIMH ones but i just use 14500 in my headlamp so it's easier to pack one type of battery. Thanks for the info.

  5. The question was about a "60cx". They do support the voltage-regulated round serial port that'll take a variety of DC dumped into them - totally unlike the USB ports - but only n the round serial port.

I have increasingly little sympathy for people that apply imprecise answers to their questions and end up with molten slag for their efforts. "I have a GPS. Can I apply 110v to it?" "Yes [ blah ] " "I didn't read (or understand) your "blah" so I soldered 110v to my USB port, and now I have a melted puddle of Si and plastic" "Boo Hoo"

The current-limited/voltage regulated round power port on the Garmins is a _much_ better choice for the DIY hobbyist than the USB connector.

  6. I have been searching to find out if anyone has attempted this or knows if the unit will handle it. My old garmin 45 would take anywhere from 5V-14V I think, so i was thinking these might be capable of using the 8.4V (hot off the charger) of two 14500 Li-ion cells. Anyone with any info, feel free to chime in.

  7. I'm selling my trusty ole 60C. I have never had any issues with it. It is in good condition, it does have some scuffs but nothing bad. I have used it with multiple maps and can load it with whatever data you want before shipping it too you. Right now I have city navigator 2009 on it. I also have recreational lakes/fishing hot spots I can load on it if desired. I'm asking $130+shipping.

  8. :D:rolleyes: Help please!! I wonder if anyone can help me please. I have downloaded the necsessary gsak and the poi software just fine. Three times now!! Even tried the advanced version. However I am stuck at the macro button. It gives me a completely different view than the instructions. I am using windows xp ie: Should be macro button: Macro 1. when I type in Nuvi in the macro button text it copies that into the macro button! Only gives me the option of 1- Nuvi or 2-M2 etc. Have deleted and reinstalled three times now. If I manage to get past this (which I have) and add the Nuvi button...i'm thinking it does not recognize the macro because I can only get the cache numbers and nothing else when I download to my gps.

Got it to work....(still can't get the Macro 1 button) but only get the cache log number and no detail!! Cannot get "more" What am I doing wrong?

I have the same issue with mine, my macro button won't show up and i'm missing all the cache data on my nuvi 750.
