  1. After some thought I think that attributes are a great way of communicating information, especially for a beginner in an Austrian winter like me. I can see Gitchee's point, so maybe limited the number of attributes that can be applied to a cache, AZcachemeister I don't agree with, sure what they are asking makes sense, that people could put more information up, call me romantic but that would spoil the criptic and coded adventure that geocaching is. Certainly if snow can make it as an attribute the other seasonal variations like flooding can also prevent access, this is a worldwide sport. Here in NT AUST ther are some caches that cannot be accessed for up to 6 months, does that mean Geocaching.com will pick up on it's nil visitations and request action by the owner?
  2. Yeah I would agree with this!
  3. Hi there I live in the Tropics of Australia, up here in the Top End of Oz we have 2 main seasons. A wet season and a dry season, as does a lot of countries that are inbetween the tropics of Cancer and Capricorn, ie close to the equator. I was just in Europe for some of the winter and appreciated the attributes of geocaches, especially the ones that would tell me if I could try in the winter as snow covered almost everything. I was thinking that around here some tracks and parts of the great outdoors are cut off during the wet season, it would be good to know whether you could attempt to find a cache in these conditions, like one of the attributes. So...what do you think? Kenhoath

    logos

where can i get electronic copies of the geocaching, official geocache, cito... ect.... logos to decorate my cache, can you actually find them on the geocaching website, or is there a trademark issue?
  5. Thanks heaps for the responces, and so quick too. I understand the three day thing, i guess i just mis-interpreted it, it wasn't asking me to leave the trackable in the cache for a few days but rather to wait a few days to log my find, then the item might be there. Thanks again
  6. It seems I fell into a little trap regarding trackables. (That what they are called isn't it?) (Is a geocoin a trackable item or does it have to be a trackable geocoin) (There seems to be a swapping of coins going on, is that seperate to geocaching.) My Trap. When researching a Cache online I noticed it had a Trackable Item in it. I found the cache and retrieved the Trackable Item. On returning to my computer I tried to log the Trackable Item, only to find out the Trackable Item I had was not the one in the Cache Descriptions inventory. Firstly, the Trackable Item in the Inventory wasn't there, and is still (1 week later) reported as in the inventory. - What should I do about an Trackable Item that is not where it says it is on the Geocaching website. When logging my visit to the Cache I could not record that I had collected a different Trackable Item. So I entered the code to get into the Trackable Item's Log Page. I recorded that I had this particular Trackable Item. It seems the owner wasn't impressed with my etiquette. I was asked that next time to wait for a few days until I grab a trackable item from any user or cache. - How can I know when a few days is? (I realise now that the person that had deposited the Trackable Item had not yet logged it as being in there.) I was asked that before I grab the bug or coin, it is polite to send a message to the current holder with a question or note. - Is this correct, that before I go to a cache and collect a Trackable Item, that I should first ask the owner if I can do so? Not wanting to upset the owner any more i moved the Trackable Item on to another cache. When returing to the computer I logged my find of this cache, but I could not log that I had deposited the Trackable Item in this cache because geocaching.com did not recognise that I had the item, hense it was not in my inventory. I also noticed that the Trackable Item could now been seen in the previous cache's inventory. So again I logged my find of this cache, so I could log that I had this item, and therefore log that I had put it in another cache. It was then I remembered that in order to log that I had the item I needed to enter the Tracking Number, which, because I had disposed it, I didn't have. (NOTICE TO USERS KEEP NOTE OF TRACKABLE ITEMS TRACKING NUMBERS...IE. TAKE A PHOTO) To make things right I went back to the cache where I had put the Trackable Item to retrieve it once again. I then went back to the original cache to put it back where I originally found it, thus making things right on the geocaching website. So much for a little geocaching while on holidays in another country. Another question... Where can I get copies of the Geocaching and CITO logos ect. to print them out? Ps If this was confusing to understand I'm sorry, it was bloody confusing to write.
