  1. I don't know why I didn't think of this before. I just switched my e-mail address in my Groundspeak profile and everything works perfectly. This is definitely a problem with my provider.
  2. My e-mail provider is based in Florida so my problem is not related to geography.
  3. My problem started in late July when Groundspeak communication started being sent to my spam folder. I whitelisted the addresses but then stopped receiving any Groundspeak e-mail even in my spam folder. I checked with provider that they hadn't blocked e-mail from the Groundspeak IPs and no problem there. I reached out to bootron and for a short time started to receive e-mail again, and then nothing. Bootron didn't say if he had changed anything.
  4. The category has always allowed for this. I didn't change that part, just added the photo requirement.
  5. It's been a long time since I've perused this forum. Has anybody else been having problems receiving e-mail from Groundspeak products (Geocaching/Waymarking). Any tips on how to resolve this? I can't figure out if the problem is on the Groundspeak side or on my e-mail provider's side. Thanks if you can help.
  6. No, sorry, they would not qualify because they are not written by Patricia Schultz.
  7. Yes I guess you really only need one active officer to keep a category going. I think wayfrog has some magic way of promoting regular group members to officers, especially if the leadership team has gone AWOL. A leader is only needed if the category needs to be updated;
  8. As i asked for butterflies, how long was it since the officers logged in? If the category really is abandoned, it would be better for all if someone who was interested took over the management rather than having wayfrog approve the waymarks out of hand. I would assist in the operation if you would like to take over the leadership of these categories. My interest in taking over a category usually increases when I submit a waymark and discover the category is abandoned. During the course of the operation, the deadbeat officers are replaced by interested officers who regularly approve submissions so the workload of leadership eventually becomes minimal and we maintain our wonderful diversity of categories while reducing the frustration of other waymarkers.

  10. As mentioned in another thread, waymark submissions to this category can be difficult for some officers to judge if they don't have all of the additions of the relevant books. Therefore, I have made some changes in order to facilitate the evaluation of warkmarks. You will find the category here. https://www.Waymarking.com/cat/details.aspx?f=1&guid=16d23f77-8889-433d-be3a-54cc8ae7c01f&exp=True All comments are welcome.
  11. Dear all, this is to let you know that the operation is complete. Thanks much for your tremendous help in giving this category a boost!
  12. I have just been exchanging with the leader and she is ok with being voted out of the leader position, she just doesn't have the time to figure out how to delegate in the system. So I will start the voting now.
  13. We have completed the officers demotion step of this action. Although GT.US' premium membership has expired which means she is technically not eligible to be the leader of a category I just noticed that she makes reference to another e-mail address which I didn't notice before. I'm going to try one last time to reach out to her to try and understand her intentions for this category before calling the vote to demote. This is the text of the message I sent. Hi There US.GT, As waymarks in the category were going left unevaluated by the leadership team of this category we have now recruited new officers to help in this task. I think it would be a good idea to change some of the requirements to make it easier for these new officers to judge the submissions (especially for those who do not have the books). Would you be willing to make these changes? I was just noticing that your Premium Membership has expired. In case you are no longer interested in being the leader of this category I would be happy to take over the leadership. I think this is a great category and would hate to see it languish. I'm currently an officer and you have the ability to designate me as the new leader. My handle is RakeInTheCache. If you still do have an interest in this category please do reply quickly to my e-mail. If I don't hear from you soon, we will be obliged to start the process to demote you. Thanks for your continued support of this hobby.
  14. I continue to not receive Waymarking or geocaching e-mails.
  15. Thanks for speaking up in the forum. Unfortunately, I did not receive your reply because I am undergoing issues with receiving e-mails from Waymarking.com and Geocaching.com. You can imagine what a frustrating situation this is for me. I have been contacting bootron several times to try and resolve this but no recent reply from him. There is currently a pending vote for your demotion which should come to an end today. As I mentioned in my e-mail, if you wish to remain an officer I will repromote you once I become the leader of the category. If for some reason, the vote for your demotion fails, there are two options. We need a 100% yes vote from all the officers to remove the category leader. If you agree to vote yes to this vote, and all other officers voted yes, I believe you will become the category leader because of your seniority in the category. If you are willing to take on this role (but it takes a certain commitment and experience in leading a category) and are willing to make the changes to the category yourself that would be fine. If you do not want to become the leader, then we would have to launch another vote to demote you and get a 66% yes, and then start the process to demote the leader. It's complicated but I've gone through it before in taking over other abandoned categories.
  16. That architecture looks typically Romanesque (rounded arches and sculpted capitals). Consider posting it in the Romanesque Architecture category if not already done. Love the wild orchid pic on your avatar. It's an ophrys but what species?
  17. Unfortunately, when the leader is inactive or unresponsive and someone is interested in taking over, there is no other way in Waymarking to save a category from being abandoned.
  18. Good to know. That confirms that this is the right way to go about it.
  19. Yes. As far as I know, the only way to move into the leader position without the leader giving up their position is to demote all non active officers first and then demote the leader. It's a lengthy process, which is why I would like to get started on it as soon as possible.
  20. I did not know that. I missed the forum topic as I don't regularly monitor the forum. I was wondering if something happened. I did specify in my e-mail "In case you are demoted and wish to remain an officer, I will promote you after the action is completed." Doug has been extremely active in this category and I would absolutely repromote him back in.
  21. Based on passed experience, they don't respond to e-mails. The three officers will each get a vote notification for the other officers. If for some reason there was a mixup and I'm wrong in my prediction, they can post in the forum and the issue can be resolved. Additionally, if they would like to continue as officers I will repromote them afterwards so there is little risk of kicking someone out who wanted to stay in.
  22. See my post above. For nvtriker it was Hello xxx, I am writing you concerning the 1000 places to see before you die category. Over the last several months, this category has become increasingly neglected by the long standing officers including the category leader. As I particularly like this category, it has been sad to see it become neglected. This is why I would like to work to make it more active and make it easier for new officers who may not have the books to approve submissions in this category. The category leader has not responded to my ideas to improve the category, and none of the other officers, including you have responding to recent efforts to reach out. For this reason, I am initiating an action to take over leadership of this category. I would like to know whether you are still interested in remaining an officer and would assist me in becoming the leader. I'm asking you to respond to me within 24 hours to indicate your intention, after which, without a response, I will assume that you no longer wish to be active in this category, and will initiate actions to demote you. In case you are demoted and wish to remain an officer, I will promote you after the action is completed. Best regards, RitC.
  23. No news from Bootron. My last Waymarking e-mail was received Tuesday. I'm a bit fed up with these e-mail technicai issues. I believe I've done everything I can to do this transition tactfully. I'm going to proceed to vote out the longstanding officers.
