  1. Hi Jamescarl88, When you connect your Out&Back to either a MAC or PC it should just show up as Mass Storage device on both computers. You should then be able to view the Endura memory using either Windows Explorer or the MAC equivalent. GPX files can then be dragged and dropped in to the GPX folder, unplug the unit and go caching. Regarding the maps avail for the UK please check out the Lowrance website for the UK. If you continue to have issues feel free to send me a PM and we can get them resolved directly. Cheers, EnduraExpert
  2. Just send me a PM (private message) with your contact information and I would be happy to give you a call and walk you thru the process.
  3. It is a feature that will be included in the 1.5 firmware upgrade, as well as alot of the other common requests.
  4. When your Endura is connected to your MacBook it will show up as a mass storage device (ie Harddrive). You just need to drap and drop either the .GPX or .LOC files directly to the GPX folder on the Endura drive. Then unplug your Endura and go geocaching. You should have gotten a free 30 Premium membership with your Endura. With the Premium membership you can run a PQ and then drag the unzipped .GPX file over.
  5. At this no new news on the status of the Canadian Maps, they are still being worked on.
  6. The best way to move geocache coordinates to your Out&Back is to connect it to your PC or MAC. Then download either the .LOC or .GPX file for your geocache to your computer. Then just drap and drop the file to the Endura drive in the GPX folder. If you are a Premium member then you can run a PQ and then move that unzipped .GPX file over to the GPX folder.
  7. I am going to assume that they are both PC's, what is the operating system? The Endura units should be recognized as Mass Storage device for XP, Vista and Windows 7. If you want to send me a private message I would be happy to try and trouble shoot this with you.
  8. To check the firmware you will need to be at the "Main Menu", then press and hold the "Menu" button for about 5-10 seconds and you will get an "About" screen that will show you your firmware version. It sounds like you might need to do the 1.4 upgrade. The "Navigation" settings page will be grayed out until you insert a "Turn by Turn" mapping card, since it allows you to specify the option for driving directions. The "Nav Options" selection from the "Main Menu" will be grayed out until you start navigating to a waypoint, geocache or select a route or trail to navigate. I hope this helps. Please let me know if you have any other questions. EnduraExpert Hello, Has the Icon issue for geocaches that have been found been corrected? Is there a list of firmware upgrades and the fixes that have been addressed available somewhere that I can look at? I am considering one of these units. Thank you If you are referring to the cache icon not changing to indicate "found" status, no, that issue has not been addressed. The Lowrance website list all previous firmware upgrades. As I recall, clicking an update link will display instructions as well as primary issues addressed by that particular update. Indotguy is correct, that issue has not be corrected, yet. It is something that is included in the next firmware release, at this time I do not have a release date for Firmware version 1.5 but a majority of the fixes are Geocaching related. Once I do get an estimated release date and a confirmed list of fixes I will post it here.
  9. Hey Darren - I sent you a PM last week to try and get this issue resolved but have not heard back from you, are you still having problems?

  11. Jjmcwill, I do hear your comments and I wanted to let you know that we are working on a firmware upgrade that will address some of your concerns as well as add some features that other users have asked us to include. One of the feature fixes will allow the icons to change after you find a cache. Please keep the feedback comming, it will allow us to keep improving the Enduras. Thanks, EnduraExpert
  12. We are currently working on a firmware upgrade that will allow you to project a waypoint and do a multi as well as several other features that geocachers have been asking us to add.
  13. Hey danboss, You should be able to directly copy the geocache gpx file into the gpx folder on your Endura. They should then show up as geocaches. If you also copy over the second zipped file, geocache waypoints, then they will also show up as waypoints. If you are still having problems please send me a PM with your phone number and I will call you to help in getting this resolved. Thanks, EE
  14. Hey Jennifer, Lets see if we can get this figured out for you. When you copied over the PQ GPX file did you copy over both of the unzipped files or just the geocache file? How did you copy these files into the Endura Out&Back, did you drag and drop them directly into the Endura or did you use some other program? If you copied over the waypoints files over it will not include the description and recent logs? The Out&Back has a satellite driven compass, so it will only show you your direction of travel when you are moving. This unit also has a very basic basemap, which will show you major features and roads. There are more detailed maps that can be purchased. It might be best if you send me a Private Message (PM) with your phone number and I would be very happy to call you to help get this figured out. Regards, EE
  15. OK boblanza, Lets get this figured out for you. You have run a PQ (POcket Query), now you need to unzip the PQ and then plug your Endura into either your PC or MAC. When the Endura is plugged in it will show up as a Hard Drive on your system. If you are using your PC open up Windows Explorer and you will see an Endura drive. Open that drive and you will see a GPX folder, drag and drop the unzipped GPX (not the waypoints file) file from the PQ into this folder. Unplug your Endura and it will reboot & then process the GPX file. Now you should be able to go Geocaching. If you are still having problems, send me a PM with your phone number and I will give you a call and we will get this resolved before you leave for your trip. If you are running a PQ (Pocket Query) you will need to limit the number of caches to 500. We are currently working on a fix to the 500 cache limit. Then download and save your PQ to your computer. Plug your Endura into your computer, drap and drop the PQ .GPX file into the GPX folder on your Endura drive. Unplug and start geocaching. Please let me know if you have any other questions or issues. There is a GSAK macro that will take a larger file and break it up into smaller fillies of 500 each. I successfully combine several PQs, totaling 3,500 caches, then run them through the GSAK macro and it gives me a bunch of 500 cache files to drag into the Endura. Like these??? I had a similar problem when i got mine out of the box 10 days ago. Here is what I found and I hope this helps. When you install the Garmin software that allows you to transfer the gpx file to your handheld , it goes into a folder within the handheld that is called garmin. Since you do not have a garmin, you need to go into the garmin folder, then into the gpx folder, and copy the gpx file. Once you have copied it, back you way out to the opening folder and click on the folder simply labled Gpx. Paste the Gpx file in this folder and voila! all works now. Feel free to email me if you do not understand my explanation and i will try to do an actual step by step walk thru for you.
  16. TexasRepublic - please remind me which unit you have. If it is the Safari the preloaded POI's will be geographic/topographic in nature rather than commercial POI's. The Sierra POI's and the POI's that are loaded on the Advance detailed mapping cards will have more of the commercial POI's, like the Bass Pro you are looking for. Let me know if this does not answer your questions. Sorry Endura Expert, its been a while since I have had time to get on here. Yes. I have the safari. I believe I purchased the upgraded mapping card. The card that allows you to do turn by turn? Have that one. I tried searching for Bass pro using keyword and category (fishing supplies). Never came up. Is there another card? Would it matter if I had my map detail settings to not display POIs on the screen? I would assume you could still search for them even if they arent displayed on the screen. Another question. It may just be a website mistake, but the gpscity link below lists my Endura Safari as "discontinued by the manufacturer". Say this isnt so.. http://www.gpscity.com/lowrance-endura-safari.html Hey Texas Republic, sorry for the delay in getting back to you they have been keeping me very busy and I did take some time off for a vacation. If you are using the detailed map card and still not finding the BassPro location it may be that that location was not included in the POI database. We are using the POI commercial database from Navteq and there will always be some location that do not get included for some reason, know only to Navteg. Regarding your other question - it is a mis-statement by that website we have not discontinued any of the Endura units. They are selling very well.
  17. Sorry I forgot to include that I was running the latest firmware - 1.21. Does 1.4 address the issues that I was having? OK, so if your still having issues after updating to 1.4 firmware then we need to figure out what is goin on with your unit. Regarding the satellite driven compass, you will need to be moving at least 2 mph for 20-30 ft before the unit will update your current heading. When you calibrated your magnetic compass did you rotate in a 3 axis figure 8 motion? IN order to increase the spped with which the pages load you can change the detail settings of the map page by going into the "More Options" then "Detail Settings". This can be accessed by tapping the map page. Since these units have so much data loaded onto them there is some lag in redrawing the pages. Please let me know if you have additional questions.
  18. I can confirm that the GPX & LOC files that are downloaded from www.geocaching .com when loaded into the GPX folder on the Endura will be loaded as Geocaches. It is also my understanding that the geocaching type of GPX files is a standard, I will try to confirm that. If you want to send me a Private Message I would be happy to see if I can figure out what is going on with your GPX files.
  19. It looks like both units and the Canadian mapping should be available in late 3rd quarter of this year. As soon as I get a firm date I will post it here. Please let me know if you have other questions.
  20. Just wanted to point out that the Endura Safari $299 and Sierra $399 will do voice prompted turn-by-turn directions with the addition of the $99 turn-by-turn accessory card. Both will also give paperless geocaching features with on-board cache filtering.

  23. When coordinates are enter as a geocache we currently allow the Endura to continue to navigate until you tell it to "Stop Navigating". With a waypoint the unit will stop navigating when it gets close to the destination. We are working on changin this behavior so that you can continue to navigate to either a waypoint or geocache until you manually stop navigation.
  24. Both the date display and the waypoint navigation are features that are being worked on and will be in a future update. We really wanted to get 1.4 released since it was taking much longer that we had wanted. We are working on adding Waypoint Projection, the ability to turn off the waypoint arrival alarm, add geocaches directly to the unit as well as working on removing the 3MB limit on GPX file size.
  25. Unless it's been addressed in 1.4, Enduras will not do projections. Waypoint projection is a feature that we are working on and did not make it in to the 1.4 update
