  1. google for 'golf gps' and you get quite a few hits. Some are custom gps recveivers usable only at a golf course, which makes geocaching impossible. If you want to combine the two, I would think that a Palm or Pocket pc with appropriate software and a GPS module is your best bet. On example of one such solution is http://mightygps.com/atomicclocks.htm ( I have no experience with this unit. Just found it by googling )
  2. Or you could use GSAK
  3. teamtricky: Perform a 'Custom export' from GSAK and use GPSBabel to convert the exported GPX to HTML. You will find GPSBabel in the GSAK installation directory (C:\Program Files\GSAK on my pc). This is a command line tool. If you download GPSBabel separately from gpsbabel.sourceforge.net you will also get a small windows program called GPSBabelGUI wich is easier to use.
  4. Use a browser that allows you to turn off downloading/displaying of images. Examples of such browsers are Opera ( my favourite ) and Firefox.
  5. Yes, I can see that that workaround would work, but my solution is better.
  6. Feature request: Currently one can select an action when double-clicking on a waypoint. I'd like to specify different actions for shift-doubleclick and ctrl-doubleclick as well, so that I can double-click for offline, shift-doubleclick for online and ctrl-doubleclick for mappoint. Catch my drift, Clyde?
  7. As mentioned earlier I have a 1680x1050, and no problems reading the screen. The trick is to adjust the font size as the resolution increases. On windows this can be done by clicking Control Panel->Display->Appearance->Advanced, selecting the appropriate user interface element and fiddle with the font size till it is nice and readable.
  8. Screen resoultion etc is tracked using javascript. I have an account ( free ) with http://www.statcounter.com/ that counts just about everything related to web traffic on my sites. It is done by including a little snippet of javascript on each page. Nothing is visible to the end user.
  9. Tip: If you want to find posts containing multple words, you should connect them with 'AND'. For example 'GSAK and Mapsend'. If you pretend the search function is like google and just type 'GSAK Mapsend' the query will return nothing.
  10. A quick question in the Website forum revealed that this is possible ( Thanks again Stunod ). Just change the RESULT TYPE from Show results as topics (which is the default) to Show results as posts. You will find this option in the lower right corner of the search form.

Stunod, you are a genius! Thanks, mate.
  12. On the sites I run, 1024 x 768 is by far the most common. But larger displays are getting more and more popular. My current home laptop is 1680x1050.

    Forum Search

Would it be possible to let the forum search function link to individual posts instead of just the thread the matching posts belongs to? The GSAK thread in the GPS Units and software section is now 16 pages long. I know the answer is in there somewhere, but I'm not looking forward to reading 16 pages... There are quite a few other long threads as well wich could benefit from this functionality.
  14. The real fix to this would be if the forum search utility would link to individual posts instead of complete threads. But I guess I am posting this in the wrong forum.
  15. On my Palm IIIc I can adjust the screen brightness by pressing and holding the power on button until the adjustment slider appears on the screen. I would guess the IIIxe is similar.
  16. 3 feet sounds a tad optimistic, even with WAAS. I'm in Europe (ie without WAAS) so my best hope is 6-10 meters with a 60C.
  17. The restriction lies as far as I know in the number of GPS units you can simultaneously install maps into, not the number of computers to install MapSource itself on.

    Rar Format

But winzip and siblings is much more prevalent than winrar...
  19. I have a minor issue with the geocaching mode of the 60C. I'd like to be able to select the next cache from a list of the nearby caches after having found the current one. The suggested or nearest cache is not always in a direction I want to travel.

    Dot Gif

Mertat is correct. You get a black dot in the envelope when you have posted to the thread. It makes it easy to see which threads you have been active in.
  21. I use a Garmin Gpsmap 60C with a handlebar bracket mount, and it would fit your requirements perfectly.
