  1. Thanks everyone - several of these do not do what I want, BUT http://www.csgnetwork.com/gpscoordconv.html does… so thanks for your help
  2. OK, so I was just playing around on Google Earth. I placed a marker and looked up the coords. I see that GE coords are not quite the same format as our geocaches, but I'm having no luck in finding a site that will convert them for me. Google Earth presents a coord: N 29 39 44.16 x W 95 23 11.08 How would that convert into our DD MM.mmm format
  3. OK, great suggestions, and I even understand exactly what you mean. Thanks for the help.
  4. Is there a way to mark a FTF on a cache, so that it is searchable? I keep a written log of my FTFs, and mark them in GSAK, but if something happened to the log and the DB, I would have no way of recreating my FTF list.
  5. same for me, very frustrating as this is my first attempt at creating a Wherigo cartridge
  6. I need to run a query that results in all of my finds to date (3000). I can't run a simple pocket query as that tops out at 1000 hits. Seems like there used to be a link to follow to get this, but I can't find it, nor can I figure out how to get my full number of cache finds. Can somebody please point me in the right direction.

    .gws? .gwl

I went to upload the files from my recent Wherigo experience (which was good by the way). The upload wants a .GWS file, but I on my gps, it is a .GWL file and won't upload. I am using a Droid phone with the WhereYouGo app installed. This is my first Wherigo cache (I did two actually), and wanted to complete the process completely. I followed through to the end, but I have nothing now to prove that I completed them. What to do?
  8. I hope not matches, that is a prohibited item
  9. I've been using the original Motarola Droid phone, and love it. I've been using the free app "Geo Beagle" as my GPS, and it works great!
  10. when I read the title of this thread, I thought "cool", but then I read some of what your ideas/rules/restrictions/etc./etc. were and decided NO!
  11. I believe you can change these colors, and at what count they appear at (at least using GSAK). I forget how right now, but if you are using GSAK, check there help/forum areas.
  12. You mean the site is running sssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllloooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooowwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwww and it doesn't matter where you had posted this thread, it will get moved to some part of the forum where it will be forgotton I thought the biggest reason for the downtime of the site onthe 4th, and the redesign was to speed things up - THAT DIDN'T HAPPEN I thought the new map was supposed to be better, IT ISN'T, doesent even work for me this morning. Oh the map opens, but no icons show up. If I open close the map side bar control panel, icons may show up, but then you can't pick on them, or even see a roll over name I give the new site a big F-
  13. I still use GeoBeagle on my first edition Motorola Droid. I've had great success, with little to no problems. Using the phone gives my a bigger screen than most of the hand held GPS units. Uploading cache files, and downloading field notes is quick and easy. AND, GeoBeagle is FREE
  14. I'm not against change. I realize that given a little time I'll get to like the look and feel of the new site (after the many bugs are killed) BUT I shouldn't have to navigate around so much to use the map. Seems that the map is the most important part of the site, so why am I forced to return to the home page, and input some search criteria into the search box, go to a second page, and then go to the map. Why can't there be a link availabe in the menu (thus all pages) that takes me to the map, and starts with my home coords?
  15. Home Page - Recent Activity banner at bottom of screen (must not complain, must not complain, that isn't the point of this thread, must not complain.... oh heck with that - this is completely useless, and only distracts attention)
  16. I can't even get the pop-up box to open, so that I can get to the individual cache page
  17. I click and click and click on a cache icon shown on the map, yet I can't get the little pop-up window to open so I can pick on the link to go to that cache's page. The yellow icon for a multi gets lost in the crowd when you zoom out - would like to see that changed Don't like that personalization still doesn't default work Don't like that I have to enter "postal code, country, etc."... should default to my set location
  18. If the CO won't respond, maybe you could e-mail the last person to have found that cache and see if they will help you
  19. and for future "just in case reference" how would I best contact Groundspeak about a deleted log entry?
  20. I relogged, I only input the word "found" I don't feel that I worded my initial log in an insulting, threatening, or harmful (to the cache) way. The cache owner is new (I didn't know that till after logs were deleted) 77 finds total. I mainly wanted to know about rules concerning log deletion - I read the link above, and will remember for future. thanks to all for your input. Further input is still accepted.
  21. So when may a cache owner delete a log? I read in another thread that cache owners may not delete a log entry if the physical log within the cache was signed - true? Where is this stated (if true)?
  22. took time to process through - count was effected. New logs submitted
  23. If a CO deletes your post from the log of their cache, does it effect your count? I guess I thought that it would, but my overall count remains the same - didn't know if it took time to process through. So why did my post get deleted? Anybody in the US watching the news? See all the wild fires in Texas? We are bone dry and getting worse. I'm in Houston (Harris County), all counties remotely near are under Burn Bans. I guess the CO took exception to the fact that I questioned the wisdom in including wooden matches in their recent hides.
  24. Is there a problem with the maps on GC.com? I looked through the forum thinking that there would be either an annoucement or others asking what's up, but I didn't see anything. My map shows only the caches in general, none of the ones that I have found show as a smilie. In fact the main link to the map is no longer showing up (which makes me think that they are working on things)... from the home page, under "Search for Geocaches" on the right side of screen, click on the search button next to my home coords, next screen, blue box near top of screen, there used to be a button there that I could click on to go to the map - but that button is gone. There are two text links in the same box to the right side "View Map" | "New Search", but the View Map takes me to the new beta map, which has the same "no smilies" problem. Makes it kinda hard to select new caches, when I'm not sure if I have previously found the cache or not. Let me also say that I have logged out, and back in twice, no change in map
  25. Not sure which area to post this in, so if this one is wrong please move and/or tell me where to post it. I use GSAK to put together my statistics, but it almost always gets one thing wrong... The order in which I found caches. More often then not, what ever the first cache I found on the day is shown as the last cache that I found (not always, but usually.) I always enter caches into the geocaching.com website in the order that I found them, and I numericaly order the caches in GSAK (column USort) for each day too. Any ideas on why my order is usually messed up?
